Deconstructing the Edit: Week 1

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Photoshop, compositing, surrealism, dark art, and more! Let's break it all down in Photoshop!
"Deconstructing the Edit" goes behind the scenes in Photoshop to see how my images were created, layer by layer, step by step. I'm looking at older images of mine to talk through the thought process in each decision. Editing and compositing doesn't have to be difficult - it can be an exploration of the imagination and doesn't have to follow a linear trajectory, just like our brains! These videos celebrate that we are weird humans with weird ways of creating.
Featured in the videos is my editing setup! I use a Microsoft Surface Studio computer to edit on, which allows me to edit with a stylus directly on the screen. This helps the process to feel more like painting, which is important for my creativity. I cull my imagines in Bridge, and then I pull them straight into Photoshop. I do shoot in RAW with my Sony a7rIV, but some of these images are older than that camera system.
Come with me on a journey that takes you back through the past decade as I uncover older works, deconstruct new works, and walk through how I edit and how I find my greatest creativity.

Thank you as always Brooke for sharing so selflessly and so generously, so all of us out here can learn new ways to create and to channel that creativity and for us to have more means to have our artistic voices heard. I always learn so much with your videos and even by simply looking at your images. It is so incredibly amazing to be able to see how your images are created. Huge thumbs up!

I really love your fine art photography! Do you feel that your work is a continuation of what the Pictorialists of the late 1800's/early 1900's were trying to achieve? How do you think they would react to the modern tools you use to make your art? also, which sony do you shoot with?
