After a quick Google search I am so happy to announce that a third key was found in Boston, Massachusetts in 2019, just months after this video was made!!! The park in which the key was hidden was undergoing renovations and the casque was thankfully unearthed rather than lost or destroyed.

Google Earth takes you very near and or above any area you may like to search . The puzzle is actually more along the lines of letting a six year old tell you what as an example " Hard Words " means , To every person it of course congers up different things but lets go back to pre 1900 , " hard words " were perhaps intended as both simplicity and profound as " print blocks " in the case of publishers of books or newspapers , were used even way into this last century for ads ! The language of the book therefore one will find is very basic and rudimentary but also , meant to confound the wise looking too deep and yet not deep enough , thus the seemingly un-solveable conundrum ! An example of this simplicity is the third solve " feel at home " being home plate in Boston and a baseball painted into the womans hair ! Think of this treasure book as gold panning , move mountains , dig deep , then very gently and thoughtfully swish the remaining small grains .

That was kinda sad but also sweet? Like, sad that dude was ahead of his time but sweet that, even after his death, people are still trying to find those keys. They probably won't find them, won't be surprised if someone is living on top of them now but hey, as long as people are having fun, right? Lowkey convinced that the guy was 4chan user from 2089 who came back in time to mess with people of the past. Also, I really love how you make those videos. You make them mystic and eerie but never outright 'scary'. No loud noises, no jumpscares, just ambient music and a really amazing voice. Good job >:V

Make up stories - or take ones others made up - and then present them as if they are real. I don't mind if the channel actually SAYS that the stories are fiction of course, but I hate when they try to pass off fiction as reality. And the worst part is most people are either too ignorant (or sometimes just too young) to understand the difference.

The Secret sounds awesome for a read just for the lore and artwork itself. I'm not a puzzle solver person, but those types of people, that sounds like something up their alley. Preiss was way ahead of his time (I loved the part where he made the treasures out of clay/porcelain, non metal material lol). That's really profound to think that far ahead and how tech could be used for people to work together like that. Wonderful video and presentation! There's like a Dana Scully giving a debriefing-vibe with your entire series, which just helps set the mystery mood of the series.

So I wrote a comment but accidentally cancelled it instead of sending it...welp! I thought this was familiar but I couldn't put my finger until you mentioned Masquerade. The Secret, however, is truly on another level. It's a pity that the everchanging nature of cities has condemned (damned?) the puzzle to an eternal stalemate. But I'm also happy that people are joining efforts to solve it and salvage what they can. I'd love to join in the fun but since I don't live in the US, I'd be of little help, hahahah. At least I have a new reading!! Also, I think the book would be a nifty, alternate guide to the places it mentions. It could help see new places (or familiar places) in a new light, a more magical one. I apologise if this random babble had too much random. I'm nursing a cold so my brain is all over the place. Thank you very much for making this video! ♥♥♥♥♥

Well, if you manage to pinpoint or at least narrow down the state or city a painting refers to, I'm _sure_ you could easily find a group in one of the usual places to act as your research assistants and "away team". Looking around, taking pictures and sending them back to "headquarters" for analysis; maybe even working _backwards,_ mentally undoing name changes, renovations, and relocations...

Holy shit!! I have owned that Masquerade book since the 80s. I was obsessed with that riddle and never figured it out. When I first started watching this, all I could think of was Masquerade and then it was featured! It’s such a gorgeous book.

If you still have that book, do value it and keep good care of it. It's far out of print, and people constantly run bootleg copies that are of poor quality.

I adore content like this. There never seems to be enough stories about new and obscure stuff from the 70s and 80s, or rather, and subject that may exist is already beaten to death by a dozen other youtubers. Definitely subscribing to keep an eye on future content!

I remember a friend of mine having a copy of “Masquerade” when I was a child and we used to puzzle over it, not knowing it had been solved. I’m not familiar with the secret, being in a different country, so this is fascinating to me. It’s a bit of a shame that you didn’t touch on the scandal of the “Masquerade” solving, but I know it would have derailed the main story of this video, and that’s not why people are here! Great story, great narration, I’m glad your channel was recommended to me.

@@colonelspicymustard Not sure if you're still interested 9 months later, but if you want to know more there is an interesting presentation titled "Hareraiser: The Worst Game Ever" by Stuart Ashen, talking about Masquerade and the shitty video game it inspired. Long story short, after years of incorrect answers that didn't get even close to the actual answer, the treasure was found by a man who had insider information on the location from the organizer's ex-girlfriend, found it due to a pile of dirt from another team's efforts that had somehow missed the casket (and the only ones to legitimately solve the puzzle), and went on to use the prize in an apparent scam, setting up another contest to sell overpriced "video games" that had clues no one ever solved.

Wow this is bittersweet. For the author, his book is still being solved but he never lived to see all keys found and for the readers, they get to try and solve the puzzles with others but they have a low chance of the solution being confirmed since there's a high chance that it was destroyed (or under a house). Also before you even mentioned the inspiration, my mind immediately went to thinking it was inspired by Masquerade =P. I do wonder if another Masquerade inspired book will come out though.

It's so rad to see an actual book with treasures to find with that level of puzzles. Saddly, probably one or more of them have already been found by someone who doesn't know about the book :/

It’s really nice to see a channel that actually highlights unknown ‘anomalies’ (I guess that’d be the way to describe it) from the internet and now irl too. Too many channels (specifically horror channels I notice) rehash the same old shit. Keep on rockin’, and you’ll definitely get as big as DownTheRabbitHole, maybe even bigger with the impressive rate of your success so far.

This was a great deep dive into this, I'm always amazed at the ingenuity & ambition involved in a treasure hunt story like this coming out in the eighties! There was a similar thing called "Million Dollar Mystery", a movie, I know, from around the same time. You're doing great work on this channel and I'm excited to see more!!
