"I hope at some time he goes back to being the FM of Pakistan." - This is a classic sign of someone who doesn't understand the difference between a politician and a bureaucrat and what roles can each of them play in a system.

Great initiative PSA. Keep it up the good work. Really liked the idea of Dr. Atif who is shedding li8 on the basic loopholes prevailing in the structure of pak economy plus in its society like extremism, polarisation and institutional weaponization. I would like to add one more thing "🇵🇰 has to say good-bye to obsession of handling macro-economic indicators and should focus on short-run sustained decisions in the right direction that ensures predictability and gives a clear framework to investors in which they r going to operate" i.e Curtailing Balanace of payment crisis through harsh measures infact jeaopardise the whole process of growth(good/bad can be debated), which is pivotal to mainstream the unemployed youth in commercial activities as the country is growing at 2.5% population-rate which means 🇵🇰 desparately needs growth to sustain employment. Now how is it possible? To have a conclusive economic plan/agenda and negotiate with the donor agency that this is how we r going to boost productivity and pay back ur loan otherwise the donors will continue to dictate u in poilicies and taking harsh measures which only impact the ordinary ppl.

ATIF Mian is bringing again and again the issue of extremism in the society. If all inclusive politics is not being sought then it's doomed. An impartial education based on logic and rational free of religious influence is important to develop skilled work force. As economy can be divided into ordinary skilled economy and sophisticated skilled economy. If pakistan can focus on textiles or any industry where ordinary skill can be developed relatively quickly and set the ball rolling. That needs private investment and procurement of raw materials at a cheaper price. if they focus on the industry where it's easy to train the work force, investment at a quick pace, international demand for the product and easy way of procuring raw materials. These can be easily achieved if the political will is there to take the country to the next stage. An impartial development of human resource is thoroughly required as without human resource all other things are basically useless.

38:35 Pakistan has over 40,000 madarasas. So that’s your answer on how scientific Pakistani society is. Question: Why can’t Pakistani parents be obsessed with making their kids engineers ans doctors? India has many of Pakistani problems but Indian parents became psycho about making their kids scientifically educated. Could that be one of the many reasons why India has taken a very different development trajectory?

Atif is great. I think most common Pakistanis can’t even understand what he is saying. The elite and military that runs the country, doesn’t want to implement anything he is saying and don’t want to hear him. These people don’t want to change their way of living and how they run the country. When Pakistan is a really a democracy, the changes start from bottom up. Pakistanis grow up not loving their land and country. They are told to love Allah and land doesn’t mean anything. When you love the land that feeds you, you will NOT rent your country to imperial powers and automatically love your countrymen. The concept of nationhood is missing in this country.

How can you equate love for God as alienation to land? There is a hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH that "love for country is part of faith." We love God and love of God demands loyalty to the nation.

@@asherchoudry3345 Islam has destroyed Pakistan. Islam destroyed the identity of the people and its failed leaders made sure there is no future for the country. Many of its founding leaders didn’t want to be in India because they wanted feudalism and their titles and they knew they will lose all of that when in India. Many of its founding leaders NEVER spent a day in prison and never really fought against British. Anyways, this country is doomed. It was created by Britain for its geopolitical reasons and its leaders continue to support Anglo people in their mission even today. How else can you explain its military great desire for renting out the country for $$. Pakistanis have a lot to undo. Maybe that starts with the moderation going on in the Arabs lands. There is little to no hope for Pakistanis for atleast 2 generations.

@asherchoudry3345 The concept of countries didn't exist 1400 years ago. That Hadith is fabricated. A better source would be the following verse: “Do not exult. Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant. But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters.” (Quran 28:77)

“Extremism started in 1970s and space for minorities to thrive shrunk many decades later” claims Dr Mian. No sir, only the particular strain of extremism that affected your sect started in 1970s. Why do you ignore the extremism that led to the genocidal 40s-50s. Perhaps because your own sect would be embarrassed by its complicity? Or maybe the space shrinking for Hindus and Sikhs is somehow less deleterious to an economy than the space shrinking for Shias and Qadianis. You refer to Abdussalaam but not his Hindu teacher with whom he took a famous photograph. The 70s merely represented yet another pit stop in a journey that your sect help initiate many decades earlier. Abhi toh aur bohot stops baaki hai… dil thaam ke baitho… last stop, 7th century!

Atif Mian says Bhutta started radicalization through constitution. Presumably, he refers to Bhutto as he was the one who made Ahmadis cobstitutional kafirs and Atif is Ahmadi. What about Jinnah who partitioned India on grounds of relugion and on his watch mahor attacks on Hindus and Sikgs started - which of course were reciprocated in Indian punjab. What about objectivecredolution which was passed in 50s? Atif Mian does not care if Jinnah radicalized muslims againat Hindus and filled them with hate. Since Ahmadis were safe in 1950s, he is ok with Jinnah's action/inaction.
