Decluttering EVERYTHING We Have For Moving To The South Of Russia | MINIMALISM

We have only a little bit more than a week left to get all of our stuff together and move to the sunny South of Russia - to Krasnodar that we've been living in for 5 previous years. In this video I'm going to go through everything we have and figure out what I should keep and what I should try to sell or donate before moving. I call myself a minimalist because I don't like to have a lot of things and keep items that I don't use anyhow so I can say that we don't have that many things anyway. But still, I find it important to declutter properly before moving to save money, time, and space in the new place✨
Thank you for watching!💛

Yes! I love that. I wish I were more that way but I just am not. My brain is wired to attach a lot of information and references to material items. They are like repositories of memory for me. Hence decluttering--while liberating in some practical ways--can also be very painful for me.

Don't throw away any of your towels yet or any cloth. You can use it to wrap fragile things for the move like plates and cups! My grandparents had a lot of towels and after they died, and we were cleaning out the house, we used them to wrap all the fragile things we were taking home with us. Then we got rid of the ones we didn't want.

After my parents died, I kept two hair towels that I had always used in High School. I was still young when they passed. Anyway, here it is 30 years later and I’m still using my hair towels that I found at my parents’ house. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that evoke such wonderful memories.

My husband likes to keep a bunch of unnecessary things that drives me crazy. But every now and then I put away everything that is not necessary. I mostly leave it next to the containers in bags because we have a settlement nearby with the socially vulnerable who take it and benefit them more than us. A large amount of things in the house makes me feel nervous and uncomfortable, even anxious. Here, in Serbia, life is quite similar to that in Russia, we have similar problems, a similar mentality and a similar social situation, so it is really smarter to give all the surplus to those who need it. And I honestly don’t see any gain from being too material. I think it distracts a person from their spiritual and intellectual being and imposes superficial goals in life. Greetings from Belgrade.

When I was little my mother took me on a train to visit my grandparents. It was a long trip half-way across US. We had a sleeping car and I can still recall the clickity-clack of the train on the track and I was quickly asleep. The next morning we were in the dining car having breakfast and I needed to use the restroom. It was just down the hall a short way, and a very small bathroom, so I was allowed to go by myself. When I was done, I came out and turned the wrong way down the hall and ended up in the kitchen. I just remember walking in, feeling very lost, and three men looked up from what they were doing and got the biggest smiles on their faces and they greeted me warmly “hello”, they said. Another asked me politely, “little girl, are you lost?” Then I’m not sure if a waiter took me back to the table or if my mother came and got me. I think it was the waiter. I absolutely loved (what little I can recall) of that train trip! Agatha will LOVE it!! She is a very good traveler. You and your husband are wonderful parents. ♥️

@@kremenadimitrova9463 haha yep! That’s why I love the opportunities that KZread gives us to see other countries, where people like vika can share their experiences, Where I’m from we don’t have trains at all so I’ve never seen one in real life either, you can get to the other side of the country in just a car 😊

@@loonbii4653 I'm from a small town in Bulgaria We have a train there but I wasn't use any before coming in UK, also I never seen tube before.. It was like horror movie First 2 weeks to go to work 😂. I have to take a bus, tube and overground to be there .. So I make something like a map on a notebook in case I get lost 🤣🤣

Congrats on the move! I love watching your decluttering videos as it gives someone like me, (who keeps things for no reason) a lot of help getting rid of things that I don't need. Which I am able to successfully do now!!! Heck yeah!! Thanks for the amazing content as always, Vika!!

This is the first time I've commented on your videos, but I really really love them! I love especially when you say 'decluttering is not a fast process'. I have started to declutter and find myself panicking when there are still things in piles. But you remind me it is better to wait and find a home for these things then put them in landfill. Thank you for your inspiring videos and good luck with your move!

I recognize so much of what you are going through! I am a mom too to a little girl about Agatas' age (and a baby). Avid minimalist, and we just moved cross country (Sweden). Almost all our toys are gifted too, and we think they get way too much! But grandparents can't help themselves 😂 And oh the soft toys! She has a whole play tent full of them and even though she hardly plays with them, they are impossible to get rid of. Resource management really is a full-time job with small kids... Good job decluttering!
