Then get a Switch or any other older system that supports that sort of games, it's not like they're extinct or not produced anymore. I have a friend who brought that thing to a meeting and we played several 4-player games. We had an absolute blast. Also, there still exist LAN partys, not that popular anymore though, but still... If you know where to look.

Buy a switch, there’s loads of local multiplayer games for it. Not just the classics like Mario kart/Mario party either, there’s some great indie platformers and beat em ups out there
Pro tip: Don't skip the scene before the title screen. The music is one of the all time great VGM shredders!

weirdly, i only learned about this game from looking up “magical hat flying turbo adventure” (which i somehow managed to get an imported copy of way back in the day) & learning it was a game based on an anime which didn’t get licensed outside of japan - instead, they took the same game & re-skinned it to create decap attack
A variation of this was called “Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure” in Japan, great game!

I remember my uncle had this game back in the early 90s, and I played it a little bit. I was young though, like 8 or 9 at the time. I don't think I played it again until the 2000s, after emulators were a thing, and then I beat it more recently on the Ultimate Genesis Collection on PS3. Fun game though.
I have this game for my Genesis. I enjoy it quite a bit.

I imagine this game wouldn't fly well in Japan, seeing how they don't allow for depiction of decapitation in games.
@BootlegSkeleton
4 жыл бұрын
Technically, they did have this game in Japan, but that version, which was the original, didn't have you throwing your head. I think you played as a cutesy anime girl who threw her hat, but I guess they didn't think that would sit well with manly 90's western gamers, so they reskinned it into Decap Attack.
@IceBreak23

@BootlegSkeleton
4 жыл бұрын
@@IceBreak23 Yeah, you're right. I was just describing the game from memory and I was off a fair bit. Also, the real reason it got reskinned into Decap Attack was that the original was based on an anime, the license ran out before the western release, and since no one in the west at the time would know the anime anyway they just turned it into this.

I've been waiting for this review for a long time. 10/10.
Something fun for you guys to search about: Decap Attack is an edit of a completly different japanese game, like Super Mario Bros. 2. The game as other comments pointed out is Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure, and that's probably why some of the graphics blend, they were probably changed on an editor, outside of gameplay and not tested enough. Also, there's a weird connection with other games. Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure is kind of a sequel do "Psycho Fox" on Master System, which has some relation to Kid Kool. BTW, the "head" is some kind of bird used as a weapon originally On an unrelated note, Beetlejuice on GameBoy is pretty fun, some very creative ideas
Anything to make the clouds look different. Other than the completely different shape they have?

This game was very similar to Psycho Fox on the Master System. A forgotten gem, that.
Damn this was nostalgic for me, I owned this game as a kid and I remember it being cool but difficult. Especially the totem pole stage drove me crazy :D
Fun fact-in Japan this game was a sequel to the game Kid Kool, a game that the ‘nerd reviewed a long while back. In Japan, Kid Kool was a completely different game that starred a famous Japanese child actor. The Japanese game that became Decap Attack wasn’t too different, except you died in one hit and the game originally had a scoring system that was nixed for whatever reason. Interestingly enough, Kid Kool was also improved, reskinned, and released on the Sega Master System as a game called Psycho Fox which featured several gameplay improvements and 4 different playable characters. So yeah, Kid Kool was subjected to a bad case of “Doki Doki Panic-itis”
This game happens to be #4 of my Top 10 Favorite Sega Genesis games to play on Halloween. :D
Aw yeah good stuff, I was playing Micky Mania for sega cd the other day the second level is skeletons
