Great content with a lot of common-sense, which boy is so rare nowadays! Thank you! :)
Very interesting to see this explained in this detail. Here in the Netherlands we are taught to block body/head kicks with our opposite arm, then counter (E.g. with a hook with the same side arm.) Might just be a style thing, did notice the Thai fighters do this high leg block. Thanks Damien for your time, Osu! 🙏

Dutch block is great too, but against sick kickers I don't think I have good enough arms to block a shot and then counter attack 😂
always a solid video with Damien Trainor he is a technician.
Thank you, great video
Good info. Thanks
Love it. On point.
10/10 Do one on breathing please.
Thanks, nice video
I prefer foot up, I feel like it activates the muscles in my lower leg ever so slightly more, just feels like it braces the impact better... the only time I'd ever really go foot down is if I find them sliding under my checks too often, but I've never had to make that adjustment
i think put foot fingers down is better cuz maybe he hit our fingers when they not down & it get broken
So if they try to land on the foot what should we do to protect it? Should we turn the check from side to front?
Hi, could you please elaborate on the difference between Solo Training Bagwork and Muay Thai Bag Work? I am a bit confused and I would like to purchase one of them. I just want to get clarity on which would be the better option for me. Thank you :)
3:44 need help here , please. How do you make sure it’s his foot hitting you and not chin on chin …??

You adjust your angle and timing. I strongly encourage you to seek out some one on one coaching to get you started! I understand that not everyone can immediately afford it due to time or money... but it is worth it! Videos like this are great for review though!
Any seminars in the South East of England???
Τοp details!
In my experience, the advantage of keeping the foot up is you can immediately turn your check into a oblique kick, front kick, or "chicken peck" at the other person leg that just landed on the ground, their standing leg before it hits the ground, or front kicking the hip. You can teep too but i's not nearly as damaging.

Even with foot down it doesn't prevent you from throwing that kick afterwards

@@abdelhamid6674 It doesn't but it does make it slower. Speed kills.

Yeah I actually think this is a fantastic point
3:19 Does anyone do this? You aim your blocking shin at your opponent's foot?
The thing is technique is a means to an end, if it works it works , I keep my foot down but others up who cares
