Deborah Uncovers a Misleading Advertising Pitch | Dragons' Den

Ойын-сауық

Kent-based entrepreneur and former car sprayer Mustafa Mehmet presents an all-in-one shellac system for nails, claiming to solve the time-consuming and harmful effects of generic gel solutions. Mustafa wanted £70,000 for a 35% stake in the business, but he struggles to convince Deborah Meaden that the product is in fact, non-toxic!
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

Doesn’t matter. These products will probably all say in their fine print that they are not meant to be applied to skin. They say this for legal protection more than any real danger of abit of paint getting on your skin. They probably have the potential to cause an absolutely minimal ammount of problems if they get on the skin, most likly something along the lines of drying out the skin or making it sticky and prone to breaking. Also how bad they are for the skin will also relate to how much is put on the skin. Fairy washing up liquid tells you not to get it on your skin, but not much happens if you do

@@KR-jg7gc Sorry, but your point is stupid. Do you buy bio-fuel from a supermarket as a household product? I think you're more dumb. Firstly, you can't use proper sentence formations and secondly, you should compare nail polish (a household product) to another household product. Ever heard of non-toxic glue-sticks? Things that children or adults buy as household or school items?... Yeah they're used as glue, but if a small child accidentally found it and put some in the mouth, the child would be fine as it is non-toxic, aka, will not harm you at all. So, yes, this man pitching is an idiot, nail polish that claims it is non-toxic should be safe on skin and not cause harm or irritation, as it is a household product. Just in case you decide to be a moron and disagree, here is the official definition of "non-toxic": www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB841GB841&ei=071eXefnK9qf1fAPhJSl6AM&q=non-toxic+definition+&oq=non-toxic+definition+&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39j0i22i30l9.3576.3576..3713...0.2..0.68.68.1......0....1..gws-wiz.......0i71.goOe4Kdz-yE&ved=0ahUKEwinnZ-g7pbkAhXaTxUIHQRKCT0Q4dUDCAo&uact=5 "not poisonous or toxic. "synonyms: non-poisonous, innocuous, *harmless*, benign, safe, *non-irritating*, *hypoallergenic* " "a non-toxic varnish"" So, if it fucking burns or irritates your skin, that shit is toxic. There, I proved your bullshit wrong with facts, now who's dumb?. Now, it's up to you. Be modest and admit you were wrong for calling someone dumb by not replying back *or* prove me right that you really are dumb and in denial, by replying and disagreeing with me, your choice.

here are plenty of research materials describing the evaluation of paints through rheology methods. He wasn't right in the way he said it, but he studied rheology for the sake of learning about paint, which is correct. When most chemists hear the word rheology, they immediately think of viscosity and, in fact, quantitative viscosity is one of the material properties that can be obtained from rheological measurements. However, a material's viscosity is not a discrete value, as is temperature. Rather, viscosity is a property that depends on the conditions of measurement, for example, the rate of deformation (shear rate). THIS IS SIGNIFICANT FOR MATERIALS SUCH AS PAINTS SINCE THEY ARE EXPOSED TO a variety of different deformation processes during their useful lifetime. Each of these processes represents a different deformation (shear) rate, and hence may result in a different apparent viscosity. Rheometers provide a means for evaluating this entire range of viscosity changes as well as material viscoelastic properties.

But the "avoid skin contact" with a nail product is ridiculous. You will always have skin contact with the product during a manicure.

@omgwtf696969 I guarantee if you tweeted/called Crayola and said "my kid drank some paint" they would tell you to call poison control. Same with any non-toxic cleaning product warning of skin and eye irritation. Now is this guy's nail polish on the same level of safety as Crayola's non-toxic? I highly doubt it. But the main point I'm trying to make is that non-toxic =/= safe to eat or wash your eyes with.

The nail polish market is incredibly saturated, His nail polish needed to offer something that's not already on the market to stand even a shadow of a chance. Without being "non-toxic" he has nothing. Even if it was non-toxic, he's not a majority owner of the formula so if he did start getting traction the factory would just start selling to a more well situated brand. So he would still have nothing.
