Given how long it takes defenseman to develop, you should take the defenseman at #20 or in the later rounds. The Stanley Cup dynasty defenseman core was drafted at #14 overall (Seabrook), late 2nd round (Keith), 4th round (Hjarmalsson).

Demidov has elite skills, and would make their top line elite. Levshounov isn't the best D just right handed.

Levshunov isn't Duncan Keith. Duncan Keith was also drafted in the late 2nd round. Of all the forward prospects you mentioned, none of them are near Demidov's caliber. Oliver Moore may be a great 3rd line scorer. Nazar may be a nice 2nd line wing.

Hawks should go for the D first Pick. This draft is loaded with Top D. There is a big drop off after pick 15, unless the hawks can trade up to get a good D then go Demidov and trade up.

Not very true I mean there’s definitely top end guys but there’s still tons of talent in the late first and second. Ej Emery, Adam Kleber, Jesse Pulkinnen, Aaron Kiviharju, and Henry Mews are all guys there

@@shawnbrdlik6213 I didn't say there was no talent, I said there was a drop off. Out of the 6 top end D, history shows 2 or 3 of them probably won't pan out and hit their ceiling. I don't see a ton of upside in the guys you mentioned,. they all have good traits but also some glaring weaknesses. But who knows one of them may turn out to be one of the best D in the draft. We are talking about 18 year olds here.

Think you are overating levshunovs odds of being a number 1 defensemen. He doesn't have the high end creativity and dynamic skating that makes a modern number one d. I do think he project very well as a number 2 defensemen. I'd argue parerk and Dickenson even buime project to the pure number one defense at there peak. Demidov projects as a super high-end winger(he even said he wants to play center). He has a clean 100+ point upside, and I think those ceilings make the choice for me.

LOL. Clear 100+ point upside? McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews, Draisaitl, Petterson are the only top five picks to clear 100 points in the past 12 drafts and they are all centers. Only 13 different wingers hit 100 points over that span league wide. And people think too highly of Levshunov?

@@timevans5601 I agree is increbably difficult to get 100 point upside but I thank that's the level of talent/ So far he's above kucherov, panerin and kapriov in junior product and those guys are all wingers and play a similar game. ALso could see the hawks drafting him as a center and trying it out. As fir levshunov I think people are to high on the number one d projection but I think he'll be a great number two.

This one will be tough , another small skilled winger . Being from Russia and skating isn't his strong suit. Or the RH dman from Michigan that alot of other scouts don't even rank him over some of the other dman. Maybe Lindstrom. Hopefully our scouts have this one figured out

There won't be any forward available at #20 anywhere near the caliber of Demidov. Adam Jiricek, EJ Emery, Charlie Elick, Harrison Brunicke will all likely be available at #20 and are all similar caliber RHD prospects to Levshunov.

They are not close to any of the top 4 D in this draft. If the hawks take the Demidov then they should try and trade up with their 20 pick to get a top ranked D. This draft is loaded at the front end with top D compared to the past 15 years

Frankly, my top target in those slots would be Cole Eiserman if he slips out of the Top 10.

Trade the 20th pick for more picks between rds 4-7 because they have too many picks in the first three rounds and not enough in the later rounds?? Wut? 🤣 The average team has 7 picks per draft, right? If you can use up your seven picks in the first three rounds you do that, call it a day and let the rest of the league have fun with the later rounds.
