In addition to the way the stage was lit, was the volume level and Eq of Bidens voice mic. The treble values were much lower, not crisp and the volume I estimated to be at least 3dB lower than Trump's mic, making it harder to hear Biden. This comes from working in a Television environment for over 10 years. I also noticed that the mic was turned off more readily on Biden, than on Trump. You get the 'fish mouth' when that happens. I only noticed it once during the whole program when it applied to Trump, when he tried to speak over Biden. Biden did well with his presentation, as he was facing in Trump's direction when he laid a few barbs onto him, whereas Trump would only look at the camera and thus disrespected Biden. Trump also gave the thin-lipped, false smile, when something negative to him was said, even from the Moderators.

Omg. I’m a retired C-PTSD psychotherapist. Worked with homeless Vietnam veterans. I listened carefully to Trump’s speech patterns. IMHO, Trump was schooled in military PsyOps style gaslighting that perpetrates cognitive dissonance/confusion in the targeted victim. He’s been using this with his followers, and increased the intensity of his verbal abuse for the debate. How is it objective intelligent commentators don’t get it? And why didn’t moderators ask Trump about his 2025 Fascist manifesto?

Maryann, your reading right before the debate was so correct. There are so many layers to this situation and definitely a call to order for all of those of us who value our democracy.

I'm from the state of Delaware....Biden country. In 1972 I voted for him and every time since then. He has always suffered from sinus infections. He had that far away look when you are feeling very ill. It was late in the evening as well. He had been traveling around the world , in and out of all different time zones for weeks and up to 5 or 6 days before the debate. I look at him and feel that he needs much rest. But the man is scrappy! He still gets my vote. I just pray for his health. Thanks as always dear Maryann🤗

Although I hardly ever watch CNN, after watching that debate, I will never watch them ever again. In rewatching the debate, I saw Biden differently. He was recovering from a severe chest cold and may have taken something that made him a bit wonky. But we all saw his mouth drop in shock at the magnitude of lies spewing forth. When he hung his head, I felt a momentary wave of sadness, as if Biden grasped the severity of Trump's madness. Biden's known for his compassion; He's also no dummy. While many thought he was glitching and zoning out, I received a strong image of him sorting through his mental tool box for the proper tools, because his opponent's tactic was clearly not what he'd prepped for. He knew two minutes to combat Trump and answer questions was not enough time. What to us felt like hours of his silence, I saw Joe was listening carefully for the moderators to fact check Trump. When he realized that wasn't going to happen, he came back. GISH GALLOP describes an unethical debate style of blasting one's opponent with untruths to disarm them and win at any cost. DJT was puffed up like a blow fish post debate, thinking he won. In truth he showed the world what a bully and madman he is. He had a chance to demonstrate why he's the best choice for the highest office in the world. Instead he played it like the fool he is. No wonder so many people are showing greater support for Joe. VOTE BLUE🇺🇸

My husband and I totally support President Biden for re-election!!! CNN is pathetic!!!!! Will never watch again.

I will definitely vote for Biden!! I have every confidence in his ability to continue to lead the USA. He also has a wonderful team around him who will continue to support him.

I was just commenitng on that to a friend today. I can't imagine being in the same room with all that negative energy, all that ugliness that underlies a very thin veneer that emanates fromm the one i call the Orange Malignancy. It's one thing to talk back to a screen, but to be in the room, physically, with it -- the idea makes me shudder.

I am black. We are not a monolith. I am my friends who are black are deeply distressed by Biden’s performance.

Here in England we have had many debates with Party Leaders, for the last two weeks. I can tell you they get away with nothing from the host of these debates. They are fact checked in real time. If they avoid a question it is repeatedly asked. As a voter, you need a clear picture of their policies and just as important their moral code. What the American people got last Thursday night was an insult to them as voters. What was the point of those two moderator’s? Likewise, i will never watch C.N.N again. They badly let Biden down, and let a con man who is also a felon!! Get off scott free! Shameful.

I do so share all your feelings regarding the horrendous debate we all painfully witnessed last Thursday. I also stopped watching CNN about a year ago as I felt the turn to the far right back then. I can hardly believe the lack of support coming from some of the members of the Democratic Party. I thought Gavin Newsom gave a good commentary and tongue lashing to the thoughtlessness of their comments post the debate. I also was made hopeful by comments coming from the voters for Biden who seemed to lash back at the harshness of these dems. The New York Times can take a flying leap off a very high cliffs edge as far as I’m concerned. Are they in Putin’s pocket as well? They definitely are very far right in their opinions I believe.
