Insect Warfare and of course Terrorizer I would put up there with those bands too. And Wormrot are elite too. Especially live.

Grindcore for me. Being a drummer from the 90’s Death Metal scene, I just prefer the drum patterns and it proves that you don’t have to play a million miles an hour ALL of the time. Also I find that the riffs are more memorable. Great video as always.

@@TheHumanDescensionist well, most of modern deathcore is pretty much technical nowadays (And Hell Followed With, The Raven Autarchy, Signs of The Swarm, Angelmaker, Shrine of Malice, Shadow Of Intent etc). When it comes to breakdowns it really depends, some bands like to go for the classy 0-0-0-0 way while some other have pretty nasty 'complex' breakdowns.

My husband and I are in a dispute. He's says the videos are twin brothers, I told him it's one guy playing both.

It’s funny how when you mix punk and metal to get grindcore it’s generally fine. But when you mix punk and metal slightly differently to get deathcore, you’re a poser and a fake emo metalhead. Hardcore punk has been a huge part of extreme metal even in the early days. I wanna tell some of these guys to listen to something like Altars of Madness or Left Hand Path and try to tell me it’s completely devoid of punk influence. Same goes for Black Metal, which in the beginning was basically just evil and satanic sounding hardcore punk.

@@southofheck I don't think anyone rejects the punk influence, I think it's mostly the prevalence of sterile production amongst deathcore and its attitude of "the only thing that matters is breakdowns and chugging" versus grindcore, which has much shittier production, is much less mainstream, and is at least somewhat more interesting.

@@rcengineer I agree with you there, but I’m mostly referring to the elitists who don’t really have reasons other than it’s “fake metal”. And not all deathcore is like that, a lot of older deathcore has very grimy production and a great sense of pacing. Even some newer deathcore is pretty good, but I’ll agree that you gotta get past a few things if you wanna really enjoy it. I sorta gotta turn off my brain when I listen to stuff like modern Suicide Silence or Brand of Sacrifice. And don’t even get me started on the recent “fake slam” trend that’s pretty much ruined any hope deathcore had of being a respectable genre in the eyes of most.

Yeah I noticed that too. Doom was really their only pure-deathcore work, and it was just an EP. Genesis and on they really started to toe the Technical Death Metal line.

Early deathcore especially can get so close to grindcore or death grind in some cases. In my book, stuff like The Cleaning by Suicide Silence or The Somatic Defilement by Whitechapel are so close to modern death metal that it’s barely distinguishable, aside from the occasional breakdown.

Every grindcore song ive heard sounds the same. I cannot tell them apart. I really tried getting into it, and sounds alright but you cant talk about uniqueness when you mention grindcore.

I have a deathcore playlist and can name every song that plays without looking because there is distinguishable qualities from band to band.

Some modern melodic/technical deathcore would be nice for a video! Rings of Saturn, Enterprise Earth, Cannibal Grandpa, AngelMaker, A Night In Texas, Within Destruction, Shadow of Intent, etc.

I like both styles equally, but now I listen to a lot more deathgrind and goregrind (occasionally pornogrind) more than normal grindcore. Deathcore kinda saved through my high school years, so everything before 2011, I still have a soft spot for, lol. 😅 What I wish would be more common is deathgrind/deathcore fusion bands, imagine a fast-paced lo-fi thrashy punk riff with some blast beats and feedback, then it all stops and goes slow with the most filthy dissonant or slam breakdown in under two minutes or less. More like this please, Hails. \m/

Grind’s definitely more of my thing. There are some nasty riffs on the deathcore side though, and I LOVE infant annihilator

All of this is pretty simple on my side: as long as I like what I hear I don't care who's calling a band death metal or core. I like bands who feel home prior in Death Metal, rather than Core, such as Thy Art is Murder, Whitechapel or Carnifex. What their FANS refer them to or reputation is, I couldn't care less! For me it's all Deaths Metal, since this is where I consume and produce. That's it to me at least. Good video btw!!!

Metal take Punk scene/sound like own " but isnt hybrid" ( for elitists )

@@crawlingamongthestars3736 same I'm more of a Thrash Metal, Death Metal and Stoner Metal guy but there are some cool Deathcore riffs out there and Infant Annihilator has some cool riffs basslines even though they might be artificial.

I'm more of death/black metal, death/doom, cavernous death,, black metal guy, but there's some grind and death grind bands I like, not really much deathcore.

Honestly I've had a hard time getting super into either of these genres but I really like a lot of these riffs, I definitely need to give them both more of a chance.
