The BB in the flashbacks of Cliff in all the hospital scenes are infact Sam Porter Bridges. His father is Cliff Unger and his real mother’s name was Anomalisa Bridges, Lisa for short. Bridget Strand was responsible for the death of Cliff and accidentally killed BB Sam in the melee. When BB Sam washed up on the Beach with Amelie, she “made him whole” giving him the ability to repatriate and return to the living. Bridget then took BB Sam out of the pod and raised him as her own. Years later, now adult Sam names his BB, who turns out to be a little girl, “Louise”, perhaps in reference to his real mother, his pregnant wife Lucy who passed away in a voidout event, and baby son Lou. I don’t think they are suggesting the BB was Sam’s biological child all along (since the name Louise suggest his BB is a girl, his biological child with Lucy was a boy), but rather him wanting to honor/tether the importance of those from the past into his future. In greater reference to what I think is the overall/overarching theme to Death Stranding as a whole is that we as human beings on this Earth are very much defined by the cycle of life: birth, life , death. It is that very cycle that defines our human condition. Many things in life, like a Death Stranding event, can hinder and affect our ability to move on within that cycle. We can feel stranded upon shores of loss and desperation. We can feel like just a tool within someone else’s construct. We can use these instances of hurt and loss to create great distances and disconnections from those who used to tether us to this place and to the notion of living. The stick if you will. But we can also overcome these massive desolate caverns of colossal sadness and displacement by reaching out into the void. So many people came together to help Sam, literally pulling him out of the depths back to life. I’m certain so many could say the very same thing about their tethers, their lifelines. If not, I can only hope we all know we have a rope, a strand that binds us all. Sam was a stick that found his rope in BB Lou. May we all find something to tether to, and hold on tight! Beautiful game Kojima-San. 🙏🏽💕

Adrian Maulana does this help at all? In the game, every single thing (crabs, humans, aliens) that was born and has a soul will go to a place when their soul (Ka) leaves their body (Ha) when they die. That place is the Beach. It has literal and metaphorical significance within the game, but if you’ve ever played BioShock Infinite, you could think of the Beach like the Lighthouses. It’s a thing that we all have in common and Amelie/Bridget knew this and intended to manipulate Sam into connecting the fractured country via the chiral network. She also manipulates Higgs, Diehardman, Cliff Unger, and countless others all with the purpose that This over-arching connection would allow Amelie as the Extinction Entity to connect every single beach to hers and wipeout every soul from existence. Why is Amelie doing this? It’s her purpose as an EE and apparently she got tired of waiting. This was not the first Death Stranding. All triggered by other EE’s. What makes Sam special? Sam went through a very unique circumstance during his birth. His mother’s soul was separated from her body during a voidout event and while her body that was carrying him as a baby still in womb was technically living, her Ka was in the beach. This left Sam as the first Bridge Baby. His Father perished in the attempt to save Sam, who was also shot. His baby soul washed up on a beach and Amelie, who had the ability to travel to any beach, was able to find him. She patched him up with a part of herself and returned his soul to the world of the living. In doing so, she made him immortal/repatriate and in turn the various afflictions of DOOMs encountered throughout the game by Sam, Fragile, etc. This is also why Sam’s fluids has such an affect on the BT’s. Amelie controls the BT’s and part of Sam is Amelie. Timefall, BT’s, the crystals and tar...it’s all a reaction to an increase of chiral density in the area. What is up with Sam’s BB? Sam’s DOOMs are limited to sensing them. BB’s utilized as equipment by Bridges members are able to see the BT’s due to their connection to their Stillmothers. Sam, connecting himself to the BB, can see and successfully evade them on the field.

This game was definitely what kojima needed to do. He put everything he loves into this game. Film, horror, sci-fi, action, heroes. His themes that he is passionate about which he has dealt with: depression, loneliness, and loss. I see so many moments he put his dad and himself in this game. His entire life is in this. He has definitely told a story in a kojima fashion and made it happen by using video games and interaction. This game has so many layers it’s impressive and nothing comes close to the way this game acts and feels.

Baron von Stubby I agree but I also believe this is the type of gameplay that lets you take it the way you want. If it’s just a burden to some it can also be a new experience to others. I like to try as much as I can to connect the locations and make paths to share and doing so I’ve found the gameplay really isn’t the rewarding factor but the fact I get like 60 likes for a bridge I made when I log on is nice to know that I’ve adapted my paths to others. Almost reminds me of playing dragons dogma.

The emotional beauty of art that certain games aim to go for hit the most. some gameplays that don't really have the good gameplay, but the scene and story done so well make it so beautiful and sad. The actors do a good job too and deserve more credit and taking part in doing these parts. the world is a fragile place and sometimes we need things to make us understand what the world could be like and understand one another... This game really makes it sad but it's just a part of a story... that makes it whole in the end. I have no more to say

A game over?!" Hideo knew he could make a boss fight, but that's not what this game is about. I mean he made MGS and some of them had boss fights from what i'm hearing from others. Even after that it was just constant fourth wall breaking regarding the boss fights.

Baron von Stubby Games can still be good mediums for solely storytelling; games can have less limits than films that can affect the story. I think it’s accurate to call Death Stranding an interactive movie. But hey, if you were looking for more action, then it’s not for you, and that’s totally okay.

@Baron von Stubby lol if people can make games based on crabs, who's to say that they can't make an open world game more story driven. No variety, dude the missions are literally deliveries. So many deliveries. There's variety however some people disagree with it. To me it's a breath a fresh air because even if it were another open world game, the missions would still become repetitive. Even Red Dead is a little repetitive, in fact, most of the time it is.

The history of the death stranding is a very strange one. I’m actually sure that I will maybe miss something but I will try nonetheless to explain it. The universe is composed of two parts. The physical realm of mortals and the afterlife. In between there is a sort of multiverse, made of millions of limbos, one limbo for each living creature. These limbos are called beaches. Imagine it as two hearts connected by a capillary. The capillary is made up of millions of little strands that connect both of the hearts. Those millions of strands are the beaches. When a living being almost died, having a close-to-death-experience they enter the beach and can explore it, even getting DOOMs, which are supernatural abilities one achieved by exposing itself to the afterlife. But sometimes, when a being experiences this it can become an EE (extinction entity) by becoming the avatar of the heart (the afterlife). This EE can free the afterlife into the mortal realm (controlling the flow of the hearts you could say) making beings from the afterlife appear into the mortal realm (these afterlife beings are called Beached Things, BTs for short, because they are “stranded on the beach”) and when an afterlife being and a living being collide (a BT is predatory, searching for living beings to eat) it frees antimatter into the mortal realm, creating what is called a voidout (an antimatter explosion). This has happened 5 times in history, becoming the big historical five extinctions on earth. One day, a woman called Bridget experiences a deathly situation and becomes an EE. The part of her that stays on the beach becomes a separate entity called Amelie, that doesn’t age and is not “physical” while the physical Bridget remains on earth connected to Amelie. Bridget starts to experiment with the afterlife, since Amelie doesn’t really know that she is an EE. She creates the BBs (bridge babies. Babies that were removed from the womb of their brain dead mother, connecting them to the afterlife) so as to study the afterlife more. One of these BBs is the son of cliff, a general. This general figures out what’s happening to his son and tries to rescue him. He is shot down along with the baby. However, Amelie finds the baby and resurrects him, creating the first repatriate (people that can come back from death). This however kickstarts another death stranding, in which the people that die are turned into BTs, creating voidouts and causing an apocalypse. When a dead person remains without being incinerated, after 48 hours their corpse becomes a BT. This is called turning necro. The resurrected baby, no longer a BB is raised by Bridget and Amelie, and he is named Sam. Sam strand. At some point, Sam gets married but his wife dies with her daughter in her womb. He keeps the corpse and that creates a BT which then triggers a voidout. Only Sam remains in the crater, because he is a repatriate. He then becomes depressed and gains a phobia of being touched, making him isolate himself from others, just making deliveries. There are two companies that are based on sending packages and so on. These are Bridges (which also wanted to reunite America into the UCA, united cities of America) and fragile (a company that stemmed from the other one with the same purpose). There also appeared bands of thieves called “mules”. There is also a paranormal rain called timefall, that ages rapidly whatever it touches. This happens because the time on the afterlife is a point instead of a line like in the mortal realm. When the rain enter this world it affects the inverse way, accelerating it. It’s at this point that a person named higgs and fragile (which is a woman that was the leader of the company of the same name) start doing business. I’ll explain dooms now and what little we know about them for now : DOOMs are abilities that people have depending on their exposure to the afterlife and also depends apparently to the date of your birth (such as the horoscope, the ones born at cancer, Pisces, Cetus, Delphinus and Gigas are more probable to have DOOMs) There are levels of DOOMs. Sam is level 2, and this allows him to sense BTs but not see them. Higgs is a level 7, and this allows him to bend reality, teleport, summon and control BTs and of course see them as well. Higgs comes in contact with Amelie, and starts going to her beach (which is like a central vein that goes into the afterlife. A sort of higher beach). She employs him to create chaos to start another death stranding (the sixth high extinction). Higgs betrays Fragile by using her to send two nukes to two cities. She is framed but she manages to save one city (but the cost was that under her neck she was soaked in timefall). Higgs then starts to create all sort of chaos, creating the homo demens, a separatist terrorist organisation. He captures Amelie (which was one her way to collect the cities, keeping her real plan in secret) It is here that the game starts. Sam experiences another voidout but gets his BB, which he calls lou. He becomes a major part of bridges after the death of Bridget, sending materials and connecting everyone on the chiral network (the chiral network uses the beaches as a sort of way for the internet to pass through, which makes it way better, since the time properties of said place allows it to transport massive amounts of data instantaneously. Chiral matter is the matter of the afterlife, which is used for construction but also seems to be used for many biological applications, since it has some manifestation on nervous systems and hormonal reactions). Sam meets a lot of people, in the way of connecting them too. At some point he becomes trapped in a beach meant for soldiers (some beaches can fuse together into one when a lot of people die at the same time and manner) in which he is hunted down by cliff and his ghost soldiers. Cliff had such a great will and emotions that he could with the help of timefall make manifestations of his being into the mortal realm. Eventually all cities are connected but Higgs uses Amelie to create an enormous BT which Sam kills. Sam follows Higgs and Amelie to the beach and defeats him. Amelie no longer gives Higgs powers and he is killed by fragile. Cliff then appears and captures Amelie (but unknowingly to him, he was also playing a part on Amelie’s plan, trying to create another death stranding to destroy the world) He is stopped by Sam and then the plans of Amelie are revealed. Sam then goes to her beach to decide if he should stay with her and see the destruction of the world or kill her but remain trapped in her beach. He kills her and stops the death stranding, and is eventually rescued from the beach by his friends and his BB. The new president is diehardman, a person that knew cliff and killed him but didn’t want to, since cliff saved his life many times. He became the director of bridges and the right hand of Bridget. He tells Sam all the truth and then Sam leaves as his BB appears to be dead. He tries to connect to it and gets a vision of cliff, and he reveals that cliff is the father of Sam. Sam tries to revive lou and it works, but know she is a normal baby not a BB. The game ends with Sam finally smiling at a normal rainbow with her “new” daughter lou.

Here comes the people saying you aren’t a deep enough human for not finding the core gameplay loop fun. People are such dumbasses istg. I agree eith you, the game was boring as shit to watch and play. I’ve got my hands on it for a few hours out of curiosity and well no thanks it’s boring but the story is cool. Should’ve been a damn movie

@@PSNMirru exactly just because a game has an intriguing story does not make the game fun. Even the story is fucking boring as shit. Yes it's interesting but BORING.
