Death & Glam: The Crazy History Of The BYRON HOT SPRINGS HOTEL!

One of the most highly requested videos we've ever done! The Byron Hot Springs Hotel!
If you are into this stuff like we are and want some cool wall art check out our print shop, we just added some cool Byron Hotel shots: vvarietyshow.etsy.com
"The Byron Hot Springs Hotel, located in Byron, California, has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. The area around Byron was known for its natural hot springs, which were believed to have healing properties by indigenous peoples long before European settlers arrived.
In the late 19th century, the Byron Hot Springs Hotel was built to capitalize on the popularity of the thermal springs. The hotel quickly became a popular destination for wealthy visitors seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. It boasted luxurious accommodations, fine dining, and a variety of recreational activities, including golf, tennis, and swimming.
During its heyday in the early 20th century, the hotel attracted numerous notable guests, including President William Howard Taft, Charlie Chaplin, and Jack London. It also gained a reputation as a retreat for Hollywood celebrities and political figures.
However, the hotel faced challenges over the years, including changes in ownership and the decline of interest in traditional spa resorts. The onset of World War II further impacted the hotel's fortunes, leading to its closure in the 1940s.
Despite several attempts at revival over the years, including brief periods of operation as a military rehabilitation center and a conference center, the Byron Hot Springs Hotel ultimately fell into disrepair. Today, the hotel stands as a historic landmark, its grandeur a reminder of a bygone era of leisure and luxury in California's East Bay region."

A friend of mine knows the property owner and I’ve gone shooting out there a few times. If you drive a little past the hotel there’s an area with raised dirt banks on three sides and that’s where we’d shoot. Last time I was there there was a dead cow rotting away right where you’re crouched down at 3:58.

Wonderful video. I was there about 15 years ago - there were walls in the hotel and a small Victorian house where the caretaker lived.

Apparently they were treated so well that many of the P.O.W.'s moved to the U.S. after the war. That's what I've always heard anyway. They'd try to find what they were good at, and gave them hobbies. They'd even put on plays, or learn to play instruments. Really wild, but seemed to work.
