If only you'd have known me before the accident
For with that grand collision came a grave consequence
Receptors overloaded, they burst and disconnect
'Til there was little feeling please work with what is left
Oh I need not be flattered that you've never been here before
So there's no need to mention that you've no firsts anymore
But if you let me be your skyline I'll let you be the wave
That reduces me to rubble that looked safe from far away
I don't know why, I don't know why
I return to the scenes of these crimes
Where the hedgerows slowly wind
Through the ghosts of Beverly Drive
I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know what I expect to find
Where all the news is second hand
And everything just goes on as planned
You wanna teach but not be taught
And I wanna sell but not be bought
So let us not be lonesome
So let us not be lonesome
Lost in between our needs and wants
Our needs and wants
I don't know why, I don't know why
I return to the scenes of these crimes
Where the hedgerows slowly wind
Through the ghosts of Beverly Drive
I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know what I expect to find
Where all the news is second hand
And everything just goes on as planned
I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know why, I don't know why

No such thing as fake music, unless you're going to rag on pots and pans. No such thing as a fake songwriter, when even AI can write thought provoking songs from the fragments of repetition that 'real' songwriters have pumped out in the century. 'rEaL'.
I love this song. I don't know why. I don't know why.

I just realized that Ben is moving in slow motion while his mouth is singing in time with the song, meaning he must have been lip syncing with the song sped up. That's a neat little trick.

theres something so haunting and captivating about this song. whether it be the lyrics or the instrumentals. i feel like almost everyone can relate to this. part of me wants to cry to it, part of me wants to dance. 100% recommend this song for anyone battling something. it really helps.

Becoz : 1. They dont mumble rapping 2. The music consist of traditional rock instrument. Not just some sampled tuned beatbox 3. The lyrics still has some meaning to think about. Not just pointless words about gangsta life, partying high, with boobsy, booties, bling - bling, and careless living.

I keep thinking that there is no way they could top their last album, and yet they keep doing it. I haven't been a fan for the longest time, I first heard them in about 2007 when I heard A Lack of Colour while watching the OC, but as soon as I discovered them, I was hooked. What a powerful, poetic, beautiful type of music they make.

This song makes me nostalgic. Amazing guitar riff as well.
This has been my favorite song for over a week now. The melody and composition are just so pleasing and make me feel all warm and such even tho it's kind of sad, kinda the same feeling Rise Against songs give me.

Love this song, it's Hypnotic melancholy. Reminds me of the year I spent in LA, sleeping on couches trying to get a foothold in the entertainment industry. All I got was a little kiss and a 9 month long "one night stand". Sugar coated daggers in the back.

You know, I've heard the band name in my life for what seems like a long time. I was searching for new music one day, which doesn't happen that often. I was reccomended this song and have liked it ever since. TIme goes by, I forgot the name, and just today they happened to play it as outro music on Morning Joe. I got enough lyrics to look it back up. Properly recorded the name now, wont be losing this one again.
This is my favorite Death Cab song to date, how does it only have 17k likes out of 2.9M views?

Always awesome to see a new Death Cab video!
Favorite band ever!
The engine in the beginning of the video is a Detroit 71 series and that van never came equipped with one. The problem of being a diesel mechanic... it's all in the sound, great song!
Last year, when I was in a toxic relationship, I would listen to death cab for cutie nightly before bed and pray to the universe to help me meet a softie like Ben gibbard who would like me for me 100% inside and out. I met him in May 2020 unexpectedly. He even kind of looks like Ben Gibbard physically and when we met in person, I told him that he's a hotter version of Ben gibbard Tbh, I tell people if I didn't believe in God then, I definitely do now...

God, I love the background "uuuuh"'s
This video was beautiful but Benjamin Gibbard's voice is even more beautiful.
Ben remains one of the great lyricists of our generation, love this one.

I swear that i heard this song once on the radio when i was younger. It has such a strong nostalgic sound that I can't help but feel like there are memories behind it.

this song as some of the best production i've ever heard. Seriously listen through a pair of good headphones its damn near perfect in my opinion. Love it !
Glancing at the top comments, there's not much to dissuadethe hipster appeal of these guys that colored my opinion, but this is the first song I've liked by them and I REALLY like this song. Nice melody, a sense of urgency on the bass and drums, kind of gave me an 80s new wave vibe. Going back to give their other stuff another listen.
