It was said that while this author, J. Dennis Robinson was researching his book, he spend a good hour studying roughly two dozen portraits that the hotel owner took on the adjacent island where Maren's sister Karen worked, a certain Karl Thaxter. Dennis did not know who the people depicted in the vintage images were, but they had may included Norwegian immigrants who worked at that hotel. He was hoping to find photographs of the 2 murder victims; Karen and Anethe, but there was no way to tell if they were depicted. It was said that Karen was not pretty and she was also shy (according to Celia Thaxter). Anethe was only at the Isles of Shoals a few months before she was killed.

THIS STORY:
On March 6, 1873, two Norwegian women, Karen and Anethe Christensen, were strangled and one struck with a hatchet. A third woman, Maren Hontvet, escaped and hid on the island at a place now called "Maren's Rock". Maren, the only witness to the murders, identified a German-born fisherman.
He would be caught...

IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.

Some are famous.

Ron! Great production with Little Jimmy and telling of a story that is very familiar to me! My Great Grandmother grew up on New Castle and I have been up there several times in recent years to walk the same streets that she did with some of our clan! We met a wonderful historian who helped us discover more about our ancestry and lives in New Castle. She took us on a tour and told us the story of Smuttynose Island, which I have on tape! I went to the bookstore in Portsmouth and bought the same book that you were speaking of! Such a small world, is it not? Thank you for bringing this story to life! I so appreciate your work, Ron. This was a horrible tragedy the Smuttynose Murders. I grew up visiting Portsmouth many summers as a kid and knew this story as I’ve taken the Ferry Boat ride out to the Isles of Shoals. Yes I agree - energy is all about. It was like that rose fell in slow motion...took my breath away. It reminds me of a story u did down south , story of a family murdered and buried in the woods in the middle of nowhere, not a murmur or wind. Then that dog silently shows up behind u....eerie. Ur videos get more and more professional looking. The photography, the music it was all excellent. The only problem is I desperately wanted to read those old stones! 👌🙋‍♀️

👍💯❤️👊👊👊. Love the music and the Drone footage. It prepare us for what is to come.kind of relaxes us, so we can sit back and enjoy the video. Love that shirt Ron.👍. I like to listen and watch the video, then comment later. Watching that rose fall off, even the dead one fell off. Spirit is energy. We are all Energy That Energy live on.maybe she wanted you to remove the dead flower then put yours there, not put her beautiful new flower by the old dead one. Or maybe the one beside her got jealous said no he put mines down first. Maybe her husband said wait a minute, who are you to give my wife a rose? You don't know her therefore his jealous energy swiped it away. 😳. If you look carefully there was no wind, because both flowers would of fell off. When visiting the graves of loved ones, I always remove old dead flowers, and replace them with fresh live ones maybe you should asked the husband for permission. Maybe he felt disrespected. Or explained to them why you was leaving the flower.one of my aunts used to say she dreamed of her daughter on her birthday, mother's day. She figured it out her daughter wanted fresh flowers, to be remembered on special days. Once she started doing that the dreams stopped. She would say, those dreams was her daughter Cheryl way of saying, mom you know my birthday is coming up, or mother's day is coming up. Remember me, bring me flowers. So she did on those days You see spirits know, they want to be remembered.they want us to know we not only miss them, we still love them.we remember.everybody should be remembered. I hate to see old dead flowers left on people final resting place. Even if it's wild flowers. If I do arrangements and they are still in good shape, I will place them on someone else grave. Or if they are in bad shape. I remember to bring fresh flowers. I grow flowers, have several rose bushes. Thanks Ron, that was a first for me seeing that.. interesting too. My husband and oldest 2 son's said did you see that😳? It was not the wind or the other one would of fell off too. That let me know they do pay attention and watch till the end.🙂 Take care, be safe on the road. Love, respect and positivity always.👍✌️🌻🌹🖖🙂👋. Vee, Andrew and family.🙂.
