I haven't been hurt like this by a Death Battle in a long time. But at least Arthas got more respect then in the last 5 years of his own franchise. And that line in the middle about his heart was fucking amazing!

Also, you can interpret Sauron directly fighting him to be like a sign of somewhat seeing him as an worthy opponent and starts fighting with honor. :)

Always worth remembering that Sauron winning doesn’t necessarily mean anything aside from that Sauron is stronger. Doesn’t diminish anything from either side regardless of who wins or loses :) For example, I love MHA - never watched Black Clover nor have much desire to, but from the bare little I know, I’m almost certain that Deku gets stomped next week lol, but none of that has any basis on which one is more important to me, and it’s the same for this. (Also remember - Sauron is the OG evil lord from one of the most beloved writers in fiction - nevermind the fantasy genre as a whole, the fact that they considered the Lich King comparable as a character with enough recognition to compare an episode is a MASSIVE compliment, and this was no spite match like the SpongeBob one either lol)

Even though I don’t know much about either character this has been one of my favorite episodes this Season. The visuals were some of the best in the show, it had a great analysis, and an amazing track. Great reaction Taurock!

So basically when Sauron came out to face his enemies during the War of the Last Alliance right at the end of the Second Age, he fought with the Elven High King Gil-Galad and the High King of Arnor and Gondor Elendil. They both died but were able to kill Sauron (his body at least) or weaken/knock him out in the process. Isildur then cut the ring from Sauron’s finger and took it as weregild (payment) for his father Elendil’s death

I have seen a few reactions to this because people some times share lil nuggets of wisdom about the two franchises and that is a way easier way of learning those details than just reading five billion pages on a wiki, anyhow I wanted to say that you are the first person I have watched who predicted that Sauron might be able to shatter the sword. Asmongold for example was convinced the sword could not be shattered, but he forgot that Isildur's sword was no ordinary sword, but rather a blade so powerful it was still sharp after being shattered to pieces and laying around for hundreds of years and was able to hurt Sauron's physical body, which given his might is no easy feat.

50:49 if you notice Sauron had no weakness making him the only character in DB history to have such a feat. Even characters such as Omni-man and SpongeBob had things against them despite them clearly being superior to their respective opponents.

It contained the greater part of Sauron's power, because the spirit of an Ainu is indestructible, and indivisible. Even to the Creator, Eru, who smote Sauron personally on Numenor. If an _omnipotent being_ can't divide or destroy it, a cursed sword definitely won't.

@@taurock96 No worries, I have another one for you that I was too tired to type out last night lol The person that you had debated was correct about Sauron's top speed, but the Maiar and Valar can't do it when they are interacting with the world. I wouldn't call it billions of times the speed of light though, it's more like infinite speed... which is 100% broken lol But you were right in that it doesn't factor into the match because taking a form of any kind makes it a non-factor. The interesting thing about Tolkein's Legendarium is that he didn't battleboard his characters who are beyond mortals/immortal elves (the Ainur), but you _can_ scale them. It's just trickier than something like WoW. The Vividen did some pretty accurate scaling videos a few years ago, if you had any interest. Cheers!

Honestly I still think Arthas should have won. I know Sauron is very powerful, no denying that. But they really downplayed Arthas' Durability. In the book a handful of troops and the King killed Sauron but fell in the process. I get Narsil is a enchanted blade forged by elves...but Warcraft weapons are of a league of their own. Narsil has NOTHING on the Ashbringer. I'm sorry but LotR weapons are just vastly weaker compared to weapons like Frostmourne, Ashbringer, Archenite Reaper, Thunderfury: Blessed Blade of the Windseeker!

1. You mean after Sauron already tanked a blow from GOD. By your logic, we should use the Lich King that came after Arthas to determine his durability. 2. That blade cut through Morgoth's crown, releasing from its tip a light that became the final star to dot the night sky. So that lone blade would actually be stronger than anything mentioned in the video, and Sauron broke it.
