I have their 5.1 system now for about a year and a half. I love the system but you make some great points. With the most recent update according to my dated comment here the update locked my system up. I had to reload the components as though it was a brand new system. Sonos shouldn't have had this problem as they really are only looking at their hardware and no one elses

This brings up an interesting discussion. I have two different Samsung soundbars, one being much newer than the other. Just the other day I learnt that I can give them a firmware update via USB (dunno why I didn't think of it before - probably coz they are literally just static black slabs for sound lol). However, it seems the update packages on the website don't even tell you exactly what the update is going to do! After this video, I think I'll skip on those updates for now.

Wouldn’t in-ceiling speakers interfere with the Arc’s upward firing drivers when playing the height channels with Dolby Atmos content? And Apple Music in the S2 app doesn’t need a search function because there is already a search function in the S2 app that includes Apple Music in the search results.

Sonos has been taking heat for it’s limited surround sound options for years. The lack of a true front left and right channel option is a major complaint. I mean it’s bad enough we are limited to Dolby 5.1 with dual subs. It isn’t even true 5.1. The laziness as far as releasing an Atmos capable soundbar without releasing an upfiring rear surround option at the same time was a major over site. And your comments about the limitations of the AMP are bang on. The Amp should at the very least give you a true 5.1 option that includes a centre channel and rears. Especially for 800 bucks!

it was weird timing for me because around the same day or a Day after the update patch 14.12 came out I had to buy a new modem router because my dog 🐕 piss on the one i had and the wifi wasn't working anymore. I didn't even realize there was a new update until I install the new modem and set up a new network for the sonos arc system there was and update available I shouldn't have done the update. so I thought that maybe the new network or sometimes when I'm playing Xbox series x sonos arc does a loud pop noise and loses audio i thought it was either of those 2 things the new network 😆 or the loud pop noise it does and audio goes out when playing Xbox series x. I was trying to figure what had just happened I'm like wow this sounds terrible what happened to my system I thought it was only me.

After seeing the dramas of the firmware update I’ll be looking elsewhere. The Sn11rg was plagued with bad firmware updates and I don’t want to experience that again. Thankfully the community got together with the Sn11rg and managed to get the best firmware file and allowed us to downgrade the firmware. Considering the arc has no USB port and no offical remote other then the app there’s probably no way to do a firmware downgrade which is a real shame

I had a Beam Gen 1 with Symfonisk rears and it sounded pretty good. I later added the Gen 3 Sub and WOW! The Beam really came alive and mids/highs/dialogue came in much cleaner and crisper with very deep bass filling my office space (14 foot X 20 foot X 10 foot ceilings). I upgraded my main TV's Nakamichi 7.2.4 to the Arc, dual Gen 3 subs, and Fives as rear surrounds for a 20 foot X 42 foot X 10 foot ceiling great room. This setup is more than enough to fill the room with space and the Arc does an excellent job of providing clean, clear, and crisp mids/highs/dialogue for my LG OLED 77C1 with Cable TV or streaming services with Atmos or 5.1 content. The daul Gen 3 subs fills the space evenly and the rear Fives sound fantastic on speaker stands 9-12 feet back.

They should have stuck with a good thing. The design of the playbar was perfect to achieve an incredible sounding unit. They should have stuck with that design and simply added E-Arc to it. The ARC is limited by its design, and it gives it a tinny, treble heavy sound. There’s simply no mid range punch there like you get from the playbar. The playbar also doesn’t suffer from the major dialogue problems that the ARC has!

You nailed it. The Beam and Arc sound great to a certain extent but are lacking in Mid bass. This is particularly noticeable on Music playback. Honestly, I got the Sonos Roam and it’s a piece of pure garbage, it has too many connection issues even having an excellent Wifi signal, Apple Music and even Airplay works very unreliable, music keeps cutting out, stopping, skipping ETC, and it always disconnects from the Sonos app, incredibly frustrating. Now I’ve got it replaced twice, 2 defective units and no repare option is provided, the worse? Sonos blames our network setups and Wireless interference for everything instead of fixing their products that just stop working without any apparent reason, and forget about using it with Alexa and Google, it almost never works. Listening to music should be relaxing, enjoyable and cool, but with this thing is more stressful than ever, incredible how an expensive speaker can be that bad. Forget about buying this inexplicably expensive paperweight and consider the UE Wonderboom2 Bluetooth speaker, I’m just going a say that is super great in any way and enjoyable is the perfect word to describe it

I didn’t like my Sonos Roam, Yeah! It sounds amazing, it has Alexa, Airplay, Bluetooth, it’s very portable, has a premium design and waterproof rating, but it has too many connection issues. Music keeps cutting out and stopping, especially using airplay and Apple Music and it seems a firmware bug or a fault with the unit itself. Also, it’s difficult to use it with Alexa or Google assistant, always getting stuck or answering with any error, the app is slow and the speaker often disconnects. I just want to know, why is Sonos always blaming our network setups when there might be too many other causes for all these issues? Network can be part of these issues, but they blame our local Wifi or wireless interference as it were the main source of all these issues, even if our internet is fine and all other devices in the network are working without issue, I don’t really get it! Now I’ve replaced my Roam twice because they were presenting Wifi connection errors, and for the price of the speaker, it is beyond obnoxious, it should be entirely errors free. I don’t think I’ll buy Sonos products anymore, the Amazon Echo speakers are fantastic but wait… Do you want a portable and waterproof Bluetooth speaker? Buy the UE Wonderboom2, I have it and it’s great, sounds super cool, 360 sound, the battery lasts weeks, it’s waterproof indeed, mine is red, it has a fancy cylindrical design and its bluetooth connection is fast and works very stable, enjoyable is the perfect word to describe it

Not a clickbait... if you're using new Arc , beam , ray then this affects everyone with those... and it kills the sub output and kills low bass frequencies. if you're using old equipment like playbar that use s1 app then it won't affect you as you can't even update it to new firmware... seriously stupid comment.... because ppl like you Sonos aint rushing with the fix...

@@enjoyeverymomentvideos2687 What? The PlayBar runs on S2…I know this cause I just bought it used for $200 and it works great on S2 and sounds easily better than the Beam and even the Arc for music playback. The Arc is better for movies though.

Sonos' contempt for Android users is inexcusable.

Apple I.O.S. is a closed software and Sonos can quickly test, update, and upgrade their app quickly because there very limited versions. Android software is open source meaning anyone or any company can modify the operating systems with countless versions for millions of devices. It would be impossible for Sonos to keep up with this. It is just Trueplay using the smartphone mic you are missing out on with Android. You still have a second Trueplay that is built into certain speakers that have internal mics.

The ARC have poor dialogue. No solution. Not possible to watch movies. U understand nothing. U have always to regulate the sound. Funny
