The smart move would be for her to team up with Lori Harvey and other girls of their ilk and do a reality show where they just travel the world being pretty, preferred, and selling product which they like to accumulate. Can't hate a fish for thriving in water. If the K-Dash Clan can dupe people for years, these girls should get their coin staying in their lane too.

The only thing is reality television is associated with the Kardashians and if you're not them, then it means it's the last leg of their career or bottom tier. Instead of a reality show, how about a Netflix, Hulu, etc travel lifestyle show. That way it's not reliant on a storyline or any drama producers will try to create. Travel the US and the rest of the world and do pretty bitch things but also talk business, find other women like them or other professional women and interview them. Do some once in a lifetime ish. I wouldn't want it to be on the level of a love and hip hop or housewives thing, ya know.

What I don’t understand is that people say this but, she has a lot of supporters also that like her music. She has songs that have gone platinum and a Grammy nimination. People are listening to her music…so if the majority of people don’t like it that’s fine but people will still support her. People need to understand that not everyone had to be great. The general audience just likes to pick people apart because it’s trendy. It’s done to Lizzo and her weight, it’s done to chloe Bailey all the time. There are people who are talented and people aren’t pushing them at all but they aren’t doing enough to get the deals. Saweetie knows she isn’t the best but she hustles to get her face out there. Talent can get you so far but if talent is not matched with hard work….then you have people who work hard and are “mediocre” that take the opportunities

@Alysia Williams Complaining about saweetie and not having this same energy towards other mediocre artists is not going to change the problem. At the end of the day, there are countless mediocre artists and not supporting them as a collective is what takes away from their sales. Normani is talented, dances and sings, but the girl doesn’t seem like she wants to market her own music. I think saweetie works hard despite all the negative comments about her. Her music might not be the greatest but she wasn’t as in the limelight until she broke up with quavo and has been hustling. No one can take that from her.

Saweetie can definitely be a "droplet singles" artist, and then compile her singles into a ep. But for a full fledged album, I feel as though she wouldn't have enough topics to speak about. Because she so good at marketing, she wouldn't have a moment where the public can connect to her on a vulnerable level. I think that's what she really needs as well, vulnerability. Something about her artistry is just not natural, and she makes too obvious she doesn't care an ounce about the music. she barely promotes her own music, but she promotes the hell outta her image!

If she didn’t care an ounce about music though, she wouldn’t have been tryna get into the rap game and even rap in front of j Cole in a damn parking lot lol I think she definitely cares abt her music but has realized that the marketing side of business earns her a lot of money and so naturally she caters to that side as well since it’s apart of who she is as a public figure. And I disagree on the supposed public’s incapacity to connect w her on a vulnerable level. Cardi B is 20x crazier/eccentric than Saweetie w damn assault charges and we manage to connect w her vulnerability on some of her tracks like Be Careful. Saweetie hasn’t been vulnerable yet and so I don’t think it’s realistic to assume about the public’s capacity to connect w her or that she may not even have enough topics to speak about bc we don’t know what she goes thru on a day to day basis. She hasn’t yet stepped out of the usual subject matter she raps about so we’d have to see 🤷🏾‍♀️

What's funny is I think her being such a good influencer/IG model is what hurts her. She has been fast tracked into super stardom because of her popularity but her musical ability is not at superstar level yet - if it ever will be. Her SNL performance was hard to watch lol she'd be so much better off standing still and letting the dancers move behind her. She's not a bad rapper but the tiktok style music she makes doesn't suit her and again is not superstar worthy. Nicki, Megan, Cardi and Doja all had to really grind and put out at least a mixtape or two before people took them seriously. And they were able to find their sound in the process. I think she keeps trying because she really wanted to be a rapper but she comes off more like a caricature of a rap girl lol. The marketing part is easy when you look like Saweetie and have her connects, she should have been putting more energy into her craft and then ate the girls up when she was actually ready.

I've been following saweetie for a while now and I really think she has a great aesthetic. I've watched her profimaces closely and from my pov is that you can tell on stage she cares what ppl think. She is the 'pretty' girl remember?..she needs to get ugly. And not in the literal sense. But in the sense she needs to tear up that face on stage and LET GO. She is too stiff. You can tell in her body language she wants to look pretty all the time. While I understand that is her brand the stage is a different animal. There is reason why those photos of Beyoncé at the super bowl came out looking so 'ugly' because she was committing to the performance. She channeled spirit if you will (for all you illuminati peeps) but in lame man's terms Beyoncé and many other great stage performers use their eyes when performing. Saweetie to me personally knows her privilege and when it comes to the music portion of her career gives the bare minimum because she knows she can due to her looks. However, the blame does also go on those who over look extremely talented people simply because of looks.

Bree Runway’s Gucci needs to have a video with a bigger budget and re-released in the US market, that’s the one to go! As for saweetie, I would like her to stick to sampling the hits or songs like back to the streets (a whole beat from timberland), she can do it if she stays in this lane. The icy brand needs an overhaul, love her personality though. For her ‘now what’ - she can go into acting/skits/a tv show. She’s funny and she will do well in some roles or better yet the big screen.

I think she just has to keep working, because she is getting better, or simplify her performances. A lot of male rappers just stand and have their background dancers do all the work and it’s fine, but of course women are held to a higher standard. I also think she was just nervous. I don’t know if Zac or others know that there is a superstition surrounding SNL’s stage for music performances. And wasn’t this her first big live performance? There are female artist (Dua Lipa is one that comes to mind) who have had to work on their craft more and are now a lot better. And a lot of the great performers had to practice for years and had exposure to multiple stages before they got where they are. It’s not just practice but the amount of times you have preformed matters too. But I hate admitting this, we all know that because of her desirability and skin tone she is able to get as many chances. While someone like a Bree Runway can’t even break through the US market. I just hope she keeps using it to her advantage and continues to uplift other less privileged artists like she did on her EP. And “Best Friend” was good for both her and Doja Cat. I wish more people would remember that.

I’ve spoken on this before, but the issue with Saweetie is that she’s too perfect. There’s not really anything for her audience to relate to. She’s toxic positivity at its finest. I also think we do hold Female Rappers to an incredibly high standard. In the days of Foxy, Kim, and Eve you really only had to be a good MC, model, eat on a feature, and look good. Then Nicki came in and now female rappers have to be theatrical with their performances, they have to have a little choreo, they should sing a little, have amazing visuals, and they should be able to make pop hits and top the charts. This is on top of all of the other stuff from before. Cardi came in and upped visuals even more, made it so that rappers could be a bit more personable and not so tight laced. She also kinda opened the way for more hype type music. Saweetie came up in a time where she could’ve done all of that just fine. The issue is that then Doja and Meg blew up. Doja and Meg - in a very short span of time - upped the standard. Now female rappers have to be triple threats. You have to sing, rap, and not only do choreography but do choreography well. Whether that’s twerking, something more technical, or a combination of both. You’re expected to give amazing live performances, unique live arrangements, and you’re expected to sing reasonably well. And it’s important to note that a big issue here is that Doja and Meg had to wait so long to get in the game. The girls were basically training for the moment they popped off. They didn’t really need to adjust to too much. I feel like Saweetie’s kinda floundering rn because she’s been thrown into this new environment, and she doesn’t have time to really sit down and catch up. Not in this economy. She had to constantly be churning out songs, videos, and performances to stay relevant. She knows that people aren’t terribly interested in her music as much as they are her image. And if she stops for even a second they might not tune in again. I also think a big issue is her team. I think people keep telling her she’s not as good musically compared to her peers, instead of trying to help her carve her own path and grow as a musician. So they have her trying to do what the other girls are doing and that’s not gonna work for her. They’re running with this quantity over quality model, and relying heavily on big name features and movie soundtracks. I don’t feel like her own team even believes in her. Which frustrates me cuz Saweetie has her own lil bag of tricks. She just needs to access it. Twerking clearly isn’t her ministry but we know she did majorette, they should incorporate that. She needs a better choreographer. Her breath control could use some work - she needs a vocal coach. Her performances are a little messy, she needs to find someone to help with that. Also her music; Saweetie can rap, she just needs to push herself. She needs to drop the fake positivity hype rap, and actually get vulnerable. I thought we were getting somewhere with Back To The Streets but then she slid backwards. She’s a smart girl so she needs to start challenging herself with her lyrics, and she needs to be brave and dig deep. And if she doesn’t wanna rap about something too personal, she can just choose a generic topic and go in depth on that. Also male rappers do not compare to female rappers. There are very few YOUNG male rappers who are actually good. None of them are performers and tbh none of them are expected to be. Even the older rappers. And they don’t even care cuz they want to be hood famous not actually successful. It’s not just them either. R&B has taken a nose dive in general but especially Male R&B. Giveon, Brent, The Weeknd, etc, are not giving Usher, Ginuwine, Jodeci, etc. We use to require that male R&B artist be sex symbols, do choreo, and be great performers.

I feel like when Saweetie came out with Icy Girl she was a NEW artist. Doja and Meg had been waiting for their moment since like 2012. They had been training; picking up odd skills, honing their craft, etc. They came in the game ready and took over. It was just bad luck that all 3 girls blew up in the same year. This is the time that we should be seeing Saweetie grow as an artist, but she can’t do that cuz she has to keep up with these fully trained performers. She’s had to really focus on the pretty girl/marketing genius image cuz that’s the only thing she can really beat the other 2 at.
