I think it's also important to not accept the apologies from these influencers out partying. They're not sorry, they just didn't expect the backlash. If they really cared they wouldn't be out partying or throwing crazy parties. Or excusing their behavior by saying "they can't just put their life on hold/that's what they do to entertain" when they're already privileged enough to be able to make money by staying at home/have the money to stay at home in their mansions. A lot of people postponed their plans and birthday parties and if they can do it, so can they.

I've decided I have no time for anyone who doesn't care about their fellow humans. So people that selfishly walk down the narrow city sidewalk where I live without a mask and who expect others to step aside and do the distancing... and also anyone, when talking about policy or politics, takes the side of "well they should just get a job" or "they shouldn't have tried to make a better life in the US" or whatever. If you don't even have a shred of empathy for others, you're not worth my time.

There was a person who stormed into their lobby (which is still closed mind you) he wasn't wearing a mask and pushed a visibly pregnant woman (also a teller) out of the way because he was a male Karen/pissed off because he had to follow protocol. Ok I get that “influencers” need to make money bc their job isn’t essential, but they’re millionaires. Poor people are getting by being frugal. Why can’t they? And also, they can do brand deals from home.

plus, a lot of poorer people have jobs that have been deemed "essential" and they don't have the option to stay home, making them highly vulnerable, and they're less likely to have access to healthcare if they do get sick. it's horrendous that these (let's be honest, mostly ungrateful and undeserving) rich influencers are behaving so recklessly putting the rest of their communities at risk.

Depression makes the pandemic extremely isolating! Make sure to take care of yourself too. Self love and care is important. Find a small group 2-5 people who can all agree that you’ll be each other’s bubble. Only be close with each other. Keep the interaction while also being safe!! I do this and it’s worked wonders on making me feel less isolated because I can be close and hug these people while being safe. Stay strong!!

"Regularly disappointed by people I expected better from" hit too hard. I have a minuscule following but health and safety and science are something I have been fighting to spread awareness of. I also have the privilege of being able to argue with the people who I believe are the problem for the sake of their own following being able to see the other side.

This pandemic has been a huge internal struggle for me...Right now in my country (Bulgaria), there are massive protests against the corruption in our government and the way it has handled this pandemic. Roads are being blocked, government buildings are being egged. I want to be there, I so desperately want to be there! But I'm isolating with my parents who are both 65 and have cardiovascular illnesses and most of the protesters don't wear masks or try to distance (not that you can really social distance while police are trying to flank you, but still). I can't risk getting them sick, but at the same time I watch the livestreams and I'm like "I should have been there". I've tried to join in at night when there aren't a lot of people at the blockades just to stand watch, but the rest of the day I'm just watching from a screen and feeling completely useless. And then I see some guy on his fb story posting from some club - drunk af, no mask, 5 people on the same floor tile and I'm like "what am I even doing"...

I have asthma myself and there are times when it is hard to wear a mask... but I suck it up because I want to protect my loved ones, their loved ones, etc. I would gladly sacrifice my comfort if it meant saving more lives. You can trace back the specific strain, people have received prison sentences for not quarantining and infecting more people because the specific strain they had was determined to come from a different country they visited. No matter what excuse these influencers put out for why they partied: THEY LITERALLY HAVE NO EXCUSE! Everyone has been trying to remain distant and quarantined. They know how the virus spreads and how to take precautions. But because they refuse to follow the same actions they are adding to the problem. Like it’s already out that when that massive influencer party at Jake Paul’s ended people were reporting a few of the party goers had contracted the Virus. I really hope these influencers begin to change however I highly doubt they’ll listen to anyone at this rate.
