He is the best audition ever. That was my fav song as a kid and the way he turned it into a new song was incredible. The fact that he’s a sweetheart and easy on the eyes is plus.

Still watching this at 2020, and Dannii is right - best audition ever. X Factor Australia 2014 became The Dean Ray Show....

I think the one thing that stands out to me (other than I just fall in love with him every time I watch this) is how humble he is. After he rips up the stage and almost seems to go into a different state while performing he looks up as if he just came back to the planet. His smile is infectious and that look is like a bright eyed kid at Christmas that just got a new puppy.

100% artist, and bloody good too

The best part is how in shock he was, didn’t even realise how good he was.

Dean was already well refined before X Factor at age 22 which is mind boggling. The judges couldn't teach him anything more. He was just there to sky rocket his career.

Dean to win xfactor. Absolutely amazing.

I feel he was never appreciated in the way like this before. It's 2019, and I can't seem to digest why he didn't win. Huge respect!

Jane Horrocks one of the few people to ever come on that is better than playing an instrument than he is at singing. Not that he has a bad voice but it’s not the strongest ever. But he is a better musician than most

To everyone who is saying he seems "cocky" or he doesnt seem like a nice person, I'm gonna put out there that I have been to many live shows and have actually met Dean twice. I'm not gonna get into the whole experience but he is one of the most genuine and grateful guys out there. Don't judge based on what you think you know. Live and Love x

I know Dean and lived with him 9 years ago in a student hostel in Chinchilla. He went out with my sister for a while. He's definitely not arrogant, he's a hard working humble and friendly guy. I'm glad you went against the negativity and posted those genuine and kind words about him. We need more people like you! :)

B BG Nah, he's neither arrogant or over confident. You can see in this video that he is amazed at the audience reaction. He's actually a really good guy-he's just not 'the norm' which is very refreshing. He's currently in the top 6, and doing well. Hopefully he wins the show. :)

B BG In reality, the "general impression" is that Dean is VERY well liked. His FB page has over 15, 000 likes, he's got 5 songs selling well in iTunes, he's a favorite to be in the final. He's exceptionally creative-that's the hallmark of genius. The next time you want to refer to someone as a 'brain dead drooler', perhaps you ought to take a good long look in the mirror.

DEAN is seasoned... he can play that guitar as few can... and he can put on a complete show... he should have won... but you 'll have to read my other posts to see why he did not.

I don't know why some people comment, but this guy is the real deal, he'll be making rock albums and touring soon enough

He had no idea how good he was. Amazing. He turned an old American song that few people know into something totally modern and totally electrifying. He rocked the stage. And then what he does to Coldplay's "Yellow" in Bootcamp is even more incredible. He transformed that song into something spectacular.

Anyone who thinks Dean is "arrogant" - the kid's expression of startlement and pleased surprise at 4:26 should disabuse you of the notion.

Carolyn there are 2 types of people in this world...those who create and those who destroy. Believe me I am in my 60's and even back when I was young it still happened. So I chose the high road and left the destroyers in my dust. Oh yeah I shake them off my sandals before I go in the house...lol

Interesting and charismatic guy...rather like a combination of Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison. At first I thought he was full of himself, but he seemed genuinely surprised to get the positive reactions from the crowd, and very appreciative of the judges' comments. That did it for me. He's a cutie who definitely can play and has great stage presence. I'm anxious to REALLY hear his voice!

I didn't understand people who were "hardcore Elvis fans" and seen him live, and even stalked him at the casino. But this guy really has that charisma and genuine devotion to music and being a singer. He bleeds and breathes the lifestyle of a musician thats devoted himself to his craft.

To be honest, I'm not an Elvis fan, but some of Dean's moves are most definitely Elvis! But there's not doubt, Deans FAR more talented! I adore him!

Dean's definitely got the X-Factor!! He's original, authentic and charismatic! Combine all of that with excellent guitar skills and musicianship and good strong vocals, and you have someone with a promising chance of success in this show and in the music/entertainment industry!!

these judges really knows how to appreciate talent... they return the feeling to the contestants...it makes you feel good when you see them stand on the table like that...
