Roger, Lainie's voice isn't anything like Streisand. Barbra's voice is very nasal and sometimes "pushed." I think Lainie was given better vocal training. I've always loved Barbra for the things she has done, especially "Funny Girl" but there's a clean, clear, nearly operatic sound in Lainie's upper range.

Was there ever any guest Dean sang with where there wasn’t great chemistry? I can’t think of any. What an entertainer! We won’t see his like again.

I have no words to describe Dean Martin... He was handsome, he was so fun and cute he was everything for any woman even for those more choosy and selective I don'know why... but I was always in love with this Italian man... You can guess...

We all know that Dean is a talented singer. I always wish we could have more Lainie. Always.

Lainie Kazan is soooo young here, I've only seen footage of her from the 80s onward.

Do you have a good idea how HARD it is to sing in sync?? He does is LIVE with all his guests and it blows my mind! Good melodies, great matching voices.

Lanie Kazan is brilliant in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Her character says to her about-to-be-married daughter: "Remember. The man is the head of the house. But the woman is the neck. And she can turn his head any direction she wants." Also, don't miss My Favorite Year. Lanie plays a hilarious Jewish mother to the absolute hilt.

Gorgeous ! Sings so well! And so sweet ! Reminds me of Lillian Roth. Hit " Roth Why Am I so Romantic" on a KZread search if you don't know what I mean. And to think 15 years later this beautiful young lady was the classic crazy Jewish mother in My Favorite Year ( free and a nice print, ok.ru), one of My Favorite Movies !

Love to see shows like Dean's he had a great. There aren't shows these day like Dean's. They were fun.

These were people who honed their craft on live stage; sadly that is no longer true of most entertainers who create their music in sound studios, not on stage. So we may never again have these kinds of shows: Dean Martin, Ed Sullivan, Hollywood Palace, etc.

Just Love Dean never will there be another with his talent. Frank who.......

You could always tell when Dean had a sexual energy with a female singer he was performing with. Lainie was one of them and it was most evident with Petula Clark.

OK! OK! OK!!! I'm old enough to have seen this before with Lainie and Dean BUT haven't. She is a total BABE! I saw her later in life when she ballooned way up! Didn't realize how beautiful she was and talented! May Not be PC but I don't like heavy women! I'm not why should they?

The public decides who has bigger careers. Lainie's career was as big as the public wanted. And it was a long and successful career. It wasn't Barbra's, but whose is?

She is fabulous. And he was a great singer but is he pretending to be drunk or was he??

As I watched this particular clip I can't help but notice that she is doing her best to "affect" a Streisand tone not only in her singing but most of all in her dialogue with Dean Martin. I think this really kind of hurt Lanie because she didn't just try to be herself. There can be no doubt that she was uber talented but you have to be original to make a real lasting effect and career on the world. Nobody likes in imitation diamond or imitation leather or imitation anything.
