Dean was also quite nice to Marilyn as her co-star in her last unfinished movie, Something's Got To Give. In 1962, when the the snakes at Fox fired her, Dean basically said "No Marilyn, no Martin" and promptly walked off the picture in a show of unity. Always liked Dino for that one.

TheTonyfromconey He also stood by Sammy Davis Jnr when Sammy was ‘uninvited’ to JFK’s Inaugural Ball because of his relationship with Mai Britt (despite all the campaigning Sammy had done to help secure the black vote during the election). When Dean heard about that, he also flatly refused to attend. That’s the kind of man he was and, like you, I also have great admiration for him because of it.

wow they were so fast at ad-lib they were just cracking each other up the whole time dean and jerry were just really awesome...legends!!

It is so endearing to see Marilyn stand here like anybody and smile, laugh so naturally, not showing off like she could rightfully do as the super movie star she already was.

Anyway, a quick story. A friend of mine was having lunch at a Italian eatery in BH (whose name escapes me). The place was virtually empty as it was mid-day on a Sunday. Anyway, he hears a guy coughing up a storm in the back of the restaurant. It was Dino (shortly before he passed). My friend told him he was a fan and Dino was very quiet (but gracious). He bought my friend a drink and they continued watching a horse racing event on TV.

1:18 is my favorite part, too, along with Dean's response of "we'll go home together." Although they didn't do any films or TV specials together during those 20 years, they did get together on several occasions during those years. The rumors of their complete separation were greatly exaggerated. :-)

yeah I love Dean's response too. Oh I see that's good! But, i still wish it had been more amicable of a split. =(

That my understanding too. If you just think about it they share the same friends. Frank and Sammy just to name 2 plus Sharing in the same kind of work bought them close to each other at times. They would have a real hard time not ever seeing each other. Plus Jerry made the comment after 1976 telethon that one reason Frank though it was time to bring them together once and for all was both Dean and Jerry kept asking him about how the other was doing. So it seems that they was in each others thoughts if they was not spending time with other.

Dean: "Do we all get one of these? Jerry: "No. We go to everyone's house and look at it." Pretty funny.

She handpicked him as her co-star. From what I read, they got along very well together. If you look at out- takes and scenes from the movie (You Tube has them), they look very comfortable acting together and he paid her the ultimate compliment when she was fired from Fox and they attempted to replace her with Lee Remick in SGTG: No Marilyn No Martin in this picture.

1:15 is obviously the cutest thing but Dean calling Jerry jerm at 1:44 is a close second

I like Marilyn's expression when Dean hold his pinkie ring up. It totally catches her off guard.

Dino is one of the very few stars about whom I've yet to read anything unkind from anyone who knew or worked with him. All say he was a class act and the impression I have of him is someone with real integrity and decency.

Dean was an amazing man and a very introverted guy, but he was very good at hiding his stuff! He cheated on Betty, his first wife, who then became an alcoholic and left her for Jeannie. He also cheated on Jeannie several times! He was human just as Jerry was! Jerry was just upfront!

Wow - this is rare. Haven't seen this before.

Oh what a great story! Can't remember the name of that restaurant- it was one of Dean's regular spots- Nick Tosches mentions it in his book "Dino" at the very end- as Dean is sitting there, thinking about June Allyson... :)

Well my name is Singapore, and I'm offended that anything as amorphous as a 'nation' dares to claim it has more right to that name than a truly living & breathing individual - and, that Jerry, clearly was being offensive and insensitive to myself in this video despite my not being born yet. This is especially an issue in his case since my last name is "Heylady", and - of course - my parents rather twisted sense of humor.

@soapbxprod Actually, I read that somewhere a few days ago, wish I could recall where right this moment but I am a prolific reader so the source escapes me. His first wife says she always knew he played around with his co-stars. She also says she could tell which one(s) once she saw the movie.

LaoSoftware Somehow I doubt that. As sexy as she was, I don’t think the quiet, reserved side of Dean would have wanted to deal with all the psychological baggage she would have come with. Besides, at the time he knew her, he was still happily married to Jeannie, and as I understand it, Marilyn was just as much a friend of the whole family, had been a guest at their house, and even took his sons to a baseball game she was appearing at.

Lewis was amazing! Great man, ahead of his time! Geniuses are often misunderstood. He was a great comedian! Dean was great too, pretty funny as well! Amazing singer for sure!
