Just a tip Max, if you get another flat tyre on the rear and the jack is not working, just put a rock / log under the other tyre and drive up onto it, it will lift the other tyre off the road so you can change it.

Okay this is wayyyy too simple an answer and how the hell didn’t I think to do this 😅😅😅 But at the same time the wheel nuts were over tightened (by the mechanic) so I think I actually needed that heavy duty socket wrench to move them. I tried for hours (off camera ha) and they wouldn’t budge!
@geckopete
2 жыл бұрын
@@MaxandOccy a 2-3foot long piece of pipe that can fit over your tyre leaver would help with the over tightened nuts.. I had a 4wd and often had the wheel nuts get tight making them a pain to get off.. having a breaker bar to call on ended up being a very useful tool.. mine would also fit over the jack handle so again having that long handle made jacking it up faster and meant i didn't have to get in under the thing to jack it up.

@@MaxandOccy BAD ADVICE!!! Don't ever do that especially with a heavy weight vehicle and especially on sand/ mud. You're risking your life. Infact mechanics here in Florida refused to lift my van with a jack unless meant for heavyweight because can EASILY slip.
@jamesmazurstudios

@@shac9131 There is a very big difference between city and bush fixes. Rolling the rear inside wheel up onto a sloped rock, maybe 6cm, giving the tire enough clearance to be changed (keeping in mind that there is another tire there on the inside as well) is 100% safe and a great option to change a duel outside tire. The van won't flip and no one will die BUT...and here is the good part, you will be able to change your tire. Experience is everything when driving in remote locations. And yes, always carry a 3ft metal pipe tucked away somewhere in the van to use as a leverage tool.

I love how Occy just lives his life - "Flat tire? Meh, i'm going to play with my plushy". It warmes my heart to see such happy doggo. Especially, after i lost my buddy, who traveled with my also. Thank you for your movies, they are very soothing.
Good on you max and occy for raising money for suicide prevention I’ve struggled the last couple years with bad mental health and been down the road of attempted suicide and since I’ve found your channel you’ve helped me a lot and inspired me to buy a van in the coming months to get out there and do what your doing, since December 2021 I’ve basically been homeless I’m lucky enough to have a amazing girlfriend and her family has welcomed me into their house with an open mind and open arms and kept me off the streets and put me in a safe place where I can work on my mental health and get my life together again, thanks again max and occy
Max, thank you for the major amount of ❤️Occy cam❤️. Y’know, this is how most Americans picture Australia. Well that, and surfing. And Chris Hemsworth. Plus a bonkers number of killer bugs, animals and reptiles everywhere that Australians don’t seem to mind. Filming sponsor ads without your shirt is one way to get a large segment of your audience to watch a sponsor advert, although I can’t guarantee we weren’t a bit distracted during it.😜

Max I'm glad you appreciated my comment on your last posted video. Well deserved, truly. I've followed your posts since the beginning and your travels have blessed you in multiple ways: you've become a master story teller/filmmaker; you've found and faced your demons; Lots of us make the mistake of seeing 'problems' as obstacles to security. When in fact, these challenges are a key part of this exhilarating, lovely, heartbreaking and amazing adventure. I like to think that before we were born, as soul tourists in this galaxy, we each chose our life, our adventure journey. And so, we are marvelous works in progress, as our adventures here, call out our best and bravest selves.

I can remember first watching you and Lee climb the Andes and dive in oceans. I know your heart is broken and I so applaud and appreciate what you do to advocate for mental health. My situation was a bit different in that you and Lee and Occy got me through cancer and a very debilitating accident. Hey Max. A good lesson. When you take your van to a mechanic most will use a rattle gun that is far too strong for the wheel nuts. Before leaving the shop have them back off each nut then tighten each by hand. Simple yet functional.

@@patrickw3144 Do not shave Occy. Because the heat he is troubled by comes from his feet and mouth, a dog does not sweat, all he needs is a (slow) cool down in a river, the sea or whatever cool water place. It is the responsibility of the owner to keep your dog NOT OVERHEATED. If you shave your dog, he can get sunburned also. I think Max does know what is best for Occy, his soulmate.

Not uncommon for mechanics to use Geman spec torque setting when mounting wheels; gutentight. I quickly learned solo treking up north QLD that swapping the tire iron for a breaker bar (with water pipe extension) and socket was a must if I wanted to preserve my pleasant disposition. John P. is absolutely spot on with the alternate jacking method on a dually. Surprised you only have 1 spare up there. Those roads are brutal on tyres. As I am sure you are seeing, all the hard travels are totally worth it for the serenity and beauty of our fine land.
You are such a positive and uplifting force Max. (Occy too). I always end up with a smile from your videos!

Hey Max, Great video mate! Views were amazing! Shame about that tyre you was lucky someone came along. For future you should either carry a small ramp (or find something you can drive the inner other wheel up onto) just enough to get the flat one off the ground then you can change it even if you don't have a working jack! It wouldn't even need to be anything high just an inch or two extra so something lying around could do it rock or log, under the one next to the flat, just enough to clear the ground and get it off and get the new one on there. Not sure the torque settings but usually something like 120nm to 150nm I think off top of my head for lug nuts and bolts it'll be in the manual or online. Torque em up mate and carry a breaker bar! (You never know when you'll need it..) Good going on the push up challenge great cause and glad you're still raising awareness! Look forward to the next video! Occy's looking like he is enjoying himself! And you're looking well mate! Cheers from London 👍😎🏴
