@@WBSoCal, my comment is based on the fact people a year to year and a half ago, when that truck would have been purchased, were paying over MSRP. A year old ICE wouldn’t get great trade in valve let alone a year old EV when Ford has new ones on the lots. As for the Silverado EV I’m sure there first few will sell but like Dave said (if I recall) he has Blazer EV’s available. My thoughts are those who wanted EV’s have bought and now others are on the fence.

@@dougbriggs4176yea I believe the Hummer EV is really the only one to retain any measurable sort of value as time has gone on to at least get out even, but hopefully Dave just leased the new Silverado EV and didn’t buy it, because it isn’t far fetched to see the same thing happen as most other electric cars right now and be down half the value in 2 years.

Hi Dave. . .I do enjoy your videos very much! Full discloser, I'm a life long Ford man (with 7 vehicles in over 40 years), like my parents before me (I learned to drive in a '64 Falcon!). I have a '22 ICE Lariat (my interior is a bit more plush then the Lightening you drove. When I was at the dealer for routine service, my sales consultant let me test drive a Lightening. We found a fairly step incline and I was pushed WAY back in the seat when I pushed the accelerator (think WARP speed). I agree, the interior is classic Ford (per trim level) with a Warp "engine" under he hood.

Exactly what I was thinking. Recently my dealership took in a 2008 Lexus ES. Amazing condition, only 30k miles, one owner (who no longer drove so family just sold the car to us via KBB) It was marketed for barely 10K. The first few people who looked at it were like 'nah it's a boring lexus', but the minute the 'actually understands the value here' buyer showed up, they snatched it up without even a test drive.

Great, honest review of the Lightning. Cool to see in real time how driving this is getting you amped up for your Silverado EV. It may be a plain Jane F-150 in many ways, but that electric driving experience is fantastic regardless. I think GM made the right choice by building a ground up EV rather than retrofitting their existing truck as Ford did, but glad Ford put this out there so people have options. Congrats to your Blazer EV customer who traded this in. That's the leading candidate to eventually replace my Volt!

I sold new Chevrolets from 2001-2008. I've owned nothing but GM products my whole life until August when I bought my Lightning. Hands down the best truck I've ever owned. It's stupid fast, costs 1/3 what the Silverado it replaced cost to operate and has a ton of technology. I have a Lariat with the extended battery. The reviews of the Silverado EV came out shortly after I bought my truck and I'm still happy that I bought the Ford. The Silverado EV WT is about $80k and looks uber cheap (like the Pro model you're driving). At least the cheap Ford is only $50k new...

My current lease is a 23 grand Cherokee L. And it still has almost all the plastic still in it. I just love the feeling of a brand new car. And I don’t know when or if I will ever take the plastic out of it. I may end up trading it in with the plastic in it. My point, I believe the customer should take the plastic out of their new car when they are ready to do so.

I think that they can be cheaper or break even with ICE vehicles, I think what people need to remember and where people are disillusioned is that EV’s will still need repairs, batteries don’t last forever so when 120k-150k miles are on the battery and you have to replace it out of warranty when at current prices you have to shell out $20k for a new battery pack on average you almost Negate all savings over an ICE vehicle at that time, now I do think battery replacement prices will come down in the next 3-5 years but people need to keep that in mind if they plan to keep it long term to plan for that inevitability. I love the convenience and driving characteristics of EV and I have owned and will own them but at the same time I am not naive to the fact there are major costs down the line related to the components of an EV
