i am JAMMING on the harp to this brother. Love it. Thank you
The progression on this is fantastic
What a gem to stumble across!! One of my bandmates got me listening to Europe 72 last last year and I’ve been absolutely hooked on the dead ever since!! Incredible quality on this track and I love how you included the mixo scale for soloing. I’m sure I’ll be jamming with this video many many times in the future. Thanks man :)))

Hey no prob Nicky! Europe 72 is what got me hooked on The Dead too!
Jeff this is so wonderful, the quality of the track, displaying the Mixolydian Scale with the tonic while having the extended jam. Thank you!!

Don't get stuck playing ONLY the mixo scale, though. Jerry was a chord based soloist, meaning he followed the changes. During live versions you can hear him playing quick changes with the dim parts. He was essentially a sophisticated jazz player.
Ending mixo jam is so fun!
Me and the drummer I play with used to always joke about this being the Bulimia anthem. Don't you let that "meal" go down...I'll see myself out

I love jamming Rhodes to this
Hi Jeff! Love your videos and the quality of your backing tracks. I use them all the time. I think it might be an A/E after the F#m. I hear the bass go down on most versions.
Thank you so much for this. You don't know how much it help us intermediate players

Just listening to a Jerry/Merl version of Georgia Stays on My Mind and realized Deal is pretty much the same progression.
Jeff, everything you post: it's funny, because it's all SOOOOOO good. Thanks man.

Since it costs a lot to win, and even more to lose, You and me bound to spend some time wondrin what to choose. Goes to show, you dont ever know, Watch each card you play and play it slow, Wait until that deal come round, Dont you let that deal go down, no, no. I been gamblin hereabouts for ten good solid years, If i told you all that went down it would burn off both of your ears. Goes to show you dont ever know Watch each card you play and play it slow, Wait until that deal come round, Dont you let that deal go down, no, no. Since you poured the wine for me and tightened up my shoes, I hate to leave you sittin there, composin lonesome blues. Thanks Jake! Yeah, I really stretched that jam! After hearing a great version of Dead & Co that was about as long, I decided to go for it.

Great stuff! Question: can you maybe try recording these and leaving out the signature Jerry parts? I ask because when I jam to this song, for instance, its a little distracting to have the Jerry part playing, basically doubling what I'm supposed to be playing.
@JeffWilliamsGuitar

Sorry about the Jerry part. I put that in just a few tracks just for the intro as a reference to help people learn. Didn't want it to be a distraction. I'll make sure not to add them to future tracks.

@@JeffWilliamsGuitar you should put in all the parts, the others need to get a looper and record their own tracks as they learn,

thanks for the work and money and time with sacrifice for putting together the real-time Grateful Dead songs/jams/Majic these help, when ripping leads for hours at a time as the anguish and stress of my life drain and recess, sex for the soul I guess at least for me ...thanks for the hardons

Which Dead version is this based off of?
@JeffWilliamsGuitar
4 жыл бұрын
I was listening to a Dead and Co version to figure out the song out but for the jam was just doin' my own thing. It's the only time I used a Dead and Co for a reference, but I loved the dynamics of that one version.
