MCU's not going to truly be back until they string several good movies together, and have a new cast of characters that people actually give a damn about wanting to see.

This really is the most encouraging thing to hear as a fan, because it sounds like this isn’t just gonna be another funny Deadpool movie that *happens* to be in the MCU, it sounds like a big part of what this movie is gonna be talking about is the less than stellar quality of the MCU post Endgame, which is actually really great because as a fourth wall breaking franchise when we hear them openly address the decline in quality or the solutions to fix it it’s essentially like hearing Kevin Feige and the people at Marvel say to us “We hear you, we realize that our post Endgame era hasn’t been nearly as good as what the MCU used to be and we wanna fix it” After this there’ll be no more of that speculation about how “Marvel is never gonna listen to fan criticism” After this we’ll officially know that they are listening, and so I love hearing this because it makes me believe that this is gonna be far more than a funny Deadpool movie, it’s gonna be a legitimate acknowledgment and correction for the MCU’s quality

Here is the problem. Ryan Reynolds is a uniquely gifted storyteller, especially when it comes to Deadpool. I also think that Hugh Jackman has a 24 year internal notebook on what fans have come up and said to him regarding what they want to see out of Wolverine. This is a magical collaboration with Shawn Levy, where three friends get together and make a movie, two of which are iconic 'could never be played by someone else' characters. I don't think you can replicate this moving forward, unless Ryan and Hugh are made larger parts of the MCU as a whole.

This movie is going to succeed is because it is Deadpool and Wolverine...in spite of it being an MCU movie not because it is an MCU movie. And any good will it builds towards the MCU is going to be lost by the Agatha show and the new Capt America movie

I didn't say they'd be terrible. But 'Falcon & the Winter Soldier's will be 4 years old by the time Cap4 comes out, and it wasn't a big hit at the time. So, I think it's going to be like the Marvels where banking on a Disney+ show to translate to an existong movie franchise isn't going to work out. I think Agatha is going to have a similar problem being a spinoff to a 3yr old series that was tied to a disappointing Dr. Strange Movie. And overall, MCU quality (writing/effects) has just been mediocre since End Game. So I think those projects are more likely to be mediocre than great. If they happen to knock it out of the park tho and give marvel 3 "hits" in a row, that'd be awesome. I just wouldn't bank on it.

I’m just reiterating what others have said. Deadpool and Wolverine is a different beast, a movie that’s connected to the MCU yet primarily focuses on legacy characters from a different Marvel universe. Will that create genuine interest in Cap 4 which is true MCU? That’s highly questionable, especially considering the behind the scenes issues with that movie.

I’m sure this movie will be great and exciting but it’s riding off what fox did with their movies now being in the MCU. The MCU’s biggest movie since Endgame had to have Tobey and Andrew in it. This movie will be awesome but it’s what the MCU decides to do after this.

The general audience doesn't care about the MCU state. Deadpool and the XMen were never MCU characters. So, maybe the comic book nerds will see this movie as a saviour of the MCU. But the general audience will see it as a funny comedy action movie

You're right, but those specific comic book nerds are very loud... I am a comic book nerd myself but I'm nowhere near as vocal as I think that level of fever online can be somewhat childish when not constructive criticism. If this is successful in what IGN states, then it'll hopefully quieten those people who won't stop bitchin about the MCU. I've not found the past few phases to be nowhere near as bad as the "internet" has stated (except for Quantumania and Secret Invasion being pretty awful). Its hard to be online when you're positive or just neutral about things.... Feels like you have to scream negatives all the time but that's just not emotionally sustainable. I'm excited for D and W regardless of its larger MCU impact, but it would also be nice if it does bring things together.

I dont see Hugh Jackman continuing and likely the last movie for DP also. It will not revive MCU unless DP shows up in every MCU movie like Ironman did. Disney will bait and switch all the cast. I'm not sure continuous laughter and applaud is what Im looking for. Each Deadpool movie has had quiet moments and emotional moments void of the comedy. I don't want wall to wall comedy as that would potentially mean the story lacks substance. Sean Levy's movies have always been heartfelt. I expect no difference here, but people stating it this way I wouldn't think is a good thing if it were not for knowing Levy. The IGN comments are promising but I tend to take their reviews with a pinch of salt as I've often not agreed with their view on subjects. I'm really excited to go to the cinema at the end of the month. I think taking a break from MCU stuff so far has been a welcome break, even though I personally have liked most of the phases up to this point (minus Quantumania and Secret Invasion).

There’s been a couple things floating around about Deadpool and Wolverine fixing the MCU, and I’m cool with that, but somebody had mentioned that it will be a stepping off point for the X-Men coming into the MCU, but I feel the heavily R rating the film has cut out 65% of an audience. I have a 13-year-old, and I told him that he’s not allowed to watch the Deadpool movies and he’s older, and now people saying it’s gonna tie both marvel and the X-Men together as a springboard film into the future, I feel it’s a mistake. I’m not saying the movie will be bad, I just don’t think a hard R rated film is the best one to go with, unless they create a PG-13 rated cut like they did with Deadpool too. I know the Deadpool movies are supposed to be full of bad language and tons of violence and gore, and I love that about the movies, I just think that releasing Deadpool and wolverine to kickoff hopefully a new and great MCU in a way a way that excludes a big chunk of the fan base.

Its important kids can enjoy the MCU, but lets be fair... Its 15 years old at this point. I think the people complaining about the MCU being a mess are not small children. Its the people that have grown 15 years during those movies that need that lift. X-Men 97 for example was a big MCU boost for most people I know, but they're all in their 30s. That's not to rule out the importance of bringing kids in, but I think this movie, for boosting opinion of the MCU, is really aimed at a different demographic on purpose.

So the whole superhero fatigue thing has never made sense to me. I absolutely love comic book movies, tv shows.. I'm a comic book reader. Some issues I love, some I don't. No different in live action. But like John has always said, it isn't "superhero" fatigue, it's mediocre movie fatigue. Look at all the hype around this movie. If we just didn't care anymore and were truly fatigued, would there be this much hype?? Also, the X-Men... I personally have always felt the X-Men were the absolutely best comic book team. Better than the Avengers, better than the Justice League. Look Superman might be better than the X-Men. Batman may be better than the X-Men. I'll give you that. They may be better. But as a team, the X-Men are just THE team. If done right, I think the X-Men could easily take over as top place in live action. Wolverine being one of Marvel's most popular characters and prominent X-Men member, this makes perfect sense to have this be the starting point for the X-Men in the MCU. There have been hints with Ms. Marvel and some cameo stuff with Dr. Strange MoM, but this, with its TVA connection, really make the best starting point. I'm stoked. Less than 2 weeks!! LFG!!!!

I think it could help, if we then get some of these strands they've been working on (way too slowly) coming together. The Thunderbolts movie will help bring back some of the characters people love. Spider-Man is clearly incoming again at some point. The X-Men being more prominent will be a big draw. And approaching both Junior Avengers and the actual Avenger movies could do it too. Really they need to bring back some of the staples they were leaning on in the last phase, namely Shang Chi and Wong. I thought they were going places with those guys but they just disappeared.
