Not really... You know when people play pre-recorded sets, they still use the same dj equipment as deadmau5 is using here. They just select the mp3 file of the prerecorded set and play it. If a failure like this happens, then the mp3 file would still stop playing.

This is what happens when you have enough bass to dislodge a firewire cable from your gear. Nothing actually crashed otherwise, simply unplugged and had to be restarted.

No, it was the firewire 800 cable to his Presonus mixer. He's said so several times himself now on twitter. Presonus hooked him up with a Dante networking card to solve the issue.

PS, I was there in person also, I know what he told the crowd =P

I was there, it was because of his fw800 shaking loose due to the bass. I was stage left dead in front and it was next to impossible to breathe unless you did so in between bass hits for how strong it was. How he handled that situation was beyond professional and really shows what a showman he actually is.

I was there as well. Mid pavilion, you could still feel the bass nice, but everything was so crisp and balanced... it was potentially the best show I've seen all around, and I've been to tons... deadmau5 is the ultimate REAL ass mofo

Chef Mike Macs are no better than PC at anything. Its all up to the artist and what they prefer to use. In the past mac pushed ahead in terms of catering to artists but pc has caught up.

I love that he makes his own music, and also his own equipment. I don't know much music making but I'm sure there are some musicians who barely make their own music, don't use their own equipment. Then there's Joel, he makes his own music, understands his own equipment, and repairs it himself with no help of stage attendants or anything. How incredible

I looked him up and I honestly think his style is amazing. His music doesn't take away for my appreciation of Joel's work. I love both of their music! So thanks to this section, I now have another artist who I can appreciate

So by now he probably tapes every cable to the machine he plugs it into.

They are a great brand. This issue was caused by a Firewire 800 cable coming out because the bass was so severe. Presonus jumped straight on this and sorted out Deadmau5 with Dante modules which replaces the FW800 cables with Ethernet cables, which have a retention lug as standard.

@@JordanLoweElevaToursCanada It all comes with time, experience and exposure. Believe it or not, they didn't realise what had happened here until after the show. They just reseated everything that could have been the cause and it started working. But they had multiple issues on the night - figured it out after it was caused by bass rattle causing the FW800 connectors to work loose (hence why the fault occured when the 'thud' of the drop happened), and within 2 days Presonus got them hooked up with a Dante module for the StudioLive mixer they were using as part of this setup.

Starting from 0:19, there was a reason why he had to embarrass himself. At 0:19, there is a HUGE bass, the front crowd's ears were hurting so much and it will be nearly impossible to breathe. So he had to *purposely* put an embarrassing picture on the stage so that the bass will stop. This is showing how a true showman he is.

Probably some compatibility issue between windows 7 and windows 10.

The fact that he works on his own stuff, gets it back running again, that just makes him cooler.

I remeber this. I was right up in the middle of the GA Floor and stopped recording thinking the song was over.

big feel. the indoor percussion group I marched with had the same issue with one of the new presonus boards. Cut out in the middle of the tennor/ vocal feature and it was just drums every other measure and silence.
