I doubt there’s much maintenance. China doesn’t have laws and regulations the way other countries like America and England do. Their workers are also paid equally for everything do to communism … so a burger flipper and doctor make the same wages. Of course maintenance workers there slack on the job and don’t do proper protocols to keep paying tourists safe. If you’re doing a hike like this in a country like this, that’s on you. But I personally wouldn’t.
