RIP Judy 😭 I cried so hard and I felt Jen's pain! I'd like to think that Judy was a part of Jen's life to help her grieve and was a stepping stone into her new life (Ben, the baby, etc.). She was a literal angel

I have never been more sad about a shows ending. I loved Judy so much! She deserves way more than what she got. On the other hand, I'm so happy that Jen had a baby with Ben! Yeah, he's flawed but seems so sweet and loving at his core. Hard to believe that James Marsden plays both characters because I despise Steve and love Ben lol. Shows what a great actor James Marsden is! He's also so fine like what.

Me too. I was devastated. So I rewrote the ending in my head lol Judy got into the trial and survived healthy. She re-united with Nick and they adopt 2 children. Jen and Ben get married. Ana and Michelle reunite as well. Everyone loves happily ever after.

I love that ending! I made up a theory that Judy's not actually dead, just out on the boat because of the way Jen just looks out into the ocean. Also, we didn't see the note that she wrote. Maybe Jen is crying because Judy stayed behind for good? I don't know i'm probably wrong but it's a nice thought lol

YES! I cried through the whole season. The acting was amazing.

This show is absolutely perfect. The amethyst that Michelle gave Judy, the origami dragons, all foreshadowing Judy’s death and symbolising the cancer and her bravery and honesty. Some of the best show writing I’ve seen.

I remember when I started the show I was questioning if I was going to be annoyed with Judy cause she seemed like a loose cannon nutcase. I love her arc and her character development. She proved just how deep and loyal of a friend she was through the toughest of times. Her heart was always pure. I always liked how she had something kind to say to everyone she met.. like literally everyone , even the strangers.

I'm absolutely destroyed by this, destroyed. I can't believe a genuine angel got taken away..I'm beyond devastated 😢 💔

She was a real person. The lady who wrote this story incorporated her into it.

This scene broke me. Judy was an angel sent to Jen. The story writing and the symbolism is so beautiful. Such a bittersweet ending ❤

First I thought „Oh thank God, she lives“ and for a second I did get some hope… Then realised she indeed did pass. Months after finnishing the sieries this scene haunts me. I will never get over it. I have lost a beloved friend of mine and seeing Jen losing Judy really broke my heart once again. I know it is just a show… Best show ever.

The final moments with Jen and Judy in Mexico gave me Beaches vibes. Vacation at the beach, two friends enjoying themselves, a friend dying, crying out the emotions.

I lost my husband to cancer in 2003. Twenty year ago already. How can I thank Christina Applegate for her understanding of grief and loss? She is honest and brave in her expression, sensitivity, and understanding

Something I think no one is noticing, the pain pill bottle she had was not there in the morning as they were when Judy & Jen were in bed. She used them to peacefully kill herself on the boat. Why this show gotta do this to us man?!

I just finished and wow, i never cried that much about a shows ending this is so sad.

This show was so brilliant. Christina and Linda are just so great together on screen. I’ll miss it.

I felt like when Judy said “I’ve enjoyed our time together” it was also because she enjoyed her time making the show , they both did. And it was ending, so sad I cried a lot alot😢❤❤❤

Saddest scene on TV, we cried afterwards & told my gal that Linda's motivation for the scene was feeling what Christina is really going through in real life. Both are superb.

@@jilll4690 yeah that’s pretty much what we can infer what happened. It’s basically left up to us to ponder on what happened to her. In a way, it’s really peaceful. Who knows, she could have died on the boat sailing out into the ocean or drowned herself. We just never know, but sometimes it’s better not to yk? Plus it’s a really good strategy to keep a show living on even after it’s discontinued. Hope that helps!

Enjoyed this final season but was totally thrown off by this part of the story. Didn't at all expect them to go this route. Way too sad for me. It was tough fighting back tears. You could really see how much they loved each other. This was heartbreaking

I think it’s interesting that they still left it open ended. We see this on shows all the time, if there is no dead body found, there’s still an opportunity to revisit the story.

But there was a story with Christina Applegate having a conditioning to where she can't walk without a cane now it's a bone condition I think but we know entertainment media lies.... I fell in love with show, times of laughing and crying with them both. What gives hope for another season is when Jen told Ben she had to something to tell him....like WOW OH MY GOSH, keeping fingers crossed for another season 😃😃

I don't know if it was intentional but the babies name "Joey" is the same as Joey Feek, a musician who actually passed of cervical cancer in real life. I'm reaching, I'm sure. But I immediately thought of Joey Feeks story when Jen said the babies name.

On one hand, they nailed the bittersweet ending and I can't be mad because this is very well done. On the other hand, the fuck were they thinking?? I'm so sad for her and Jen. Judy's life was so hard, it gets worse then better when her and Jen's friendship is firmly set and she's a part of the fam...then she dies at like what? 41? 42? I feel like...she deserved more than a year of love spliced with death and violence

Ig in a way it wasn’t really necessary yk? Bc throughout the show, we’ve seen their friendship, especially shown the night before she sailed away, so there really wasn’t anything else for Judy to put into words into a note yk? Also I think the reason they didn’t show it was bc that’s not what was meant to be captivated. I think what was, was the peacefulness of Judy leaving and Jen coming to terms with that. Also one more possible explanation was just that sense of fascination that makes a show really live on with the viewers yk. These r probably all wrong, but it probably also doesn’t matter if it is. It’s really just left up to interpretation at the end of the day.

Actually I didnt understand the final. Did she wait for the death on the boat in the ocean? Or did she just die at the hospital and what Jen was seeing is a dream or smt?

I liked the ending, it sucked that Judy died. But sadly it's part of a lot of people's realities. I really didn't like the song the kids were singing at the end.

I don’t think Judy died. 1. The cat scratching on the door of the guest house where Judy used to live tells me that Judy is inside. I think she opted to do the experimental treatment. 2. She didn’t name the baby after Judy. 3. I know there’s a season 4 because at the end of season 3 Jen told Ben that she had something to tell him. No season 4 will ever succeed without Judy and Jen.

Earlier in the episode, Judy recalled a man who we assume was her father, who used to take her out on his boat, but then one day, her father sailed away on his boat & never returned. She still liked to imagine that he was still out on the ocean somewhere, free as a bird. Judy wanted Jen to be able to picture her the same way, so she took the boat out onto the ocean & presumably died at sea so that Jen wouldn't have to watch her succumb to her illness

@@doingme8384 I don't think it's quite like that exactly. Note the conversation she had with Jen the night previous. Judy was in a lot of pain & probably knew that she'd be dying very soon. She didn't want her death to be Jen's lasting memory of her, so she left before Jen woke up & decided to take the boat out to sea, where she felt the most peaceful & free. Her intention was to die out there, but I don't think I'd label it as a suicide. It's more like she made peace with her fate & accepted it

@@itskate2991 idk if this is what he means bcus i also didn’t like the ending but remember when judy was talking about her father figure that left and she imagines him still sailing free as a bird, well she didnt want jen to see her in pain bcus of her mother and wanted jen to imagine her peacefully sailing but i def agree we shouldve seen the note and gotten more closure then being left on a cliffhanger
