Rule no.5 of survival horror: never assume it's dead. I love the ambient sounds in this game. You never feel absolutely safe because you keep hearing the creaking and moaning of the ship. Then the roars and screams of survivors and necromorphs alike.

Finally playing through this badass game. It's literally the only game where I've thrown my controllers as a primitive reaction to being deathly afraid. What an artistic masterpiece right here.

I play this for my group when we’re playing the Deathwatch RPG. Really adds to the atmosphere of a Space Hulk. Tyranids or daemons around any corner.

Necromorphs and the brethren moons are like a combination of tyranids and chaos but watered down slightly

Back when this came out, I was in highschool, did a bunch of shrooms one night and played Dead Space, NOT!! An award winning combo.....I tell ya.

Its stuff like this that (to me at least) makes DS 1 far more scarier than DS 2. You know that aside from a few living people (that are either far away or mad) you are completely alone on a corpse of a ship that is full of thousands of things shuffling around and inevitably at any second one of those things is going to try to rip you to pieces. That dread is what makes the player paranoid as hell

This is what kept on edge throughout the whole game. Always chills down my spine despite how many times I’ve completed the game.

The Ishimura ship is definitively in the top 5 or 10 of the scariest and most dangerous settings in video game history. Better have a ship-wide covid infection in it than a horrifying Necromorph one, believe you me!

Top 3 easily, the creativity in making a massive futuristic planet cracking ship with thousands of people who were on board into what we see in game is enough to earn it a spot that high.

That Detail where Issac is paranoid looking around constantly aiming his plasma cutter is so cool to look at especially the creepy and unsettling sounds in the background where he is on board!

I'm not even a horror fan and this is easily a favorite of mine. I get so scared I can't progress!

And oscar goes to the man who stands in a creepy spaceship corridor for 3 hours!!!

This will always be one of the greatest sci-fi horror games imo. Loved everything about it from the disturbing and harrowing enemies(with incredible and terrifying detail..) and atmosphere to the feeling of utter isolation and dread being alone and vulnerable in the vast emptiness of space.

Am I the only one that absolutely loved this level 1 suit over all the other ones?

The coolest part about the level 1 suit in my opinion is the fact that Isaac has his badge on it with his face imprinted on it...I really liked that personal touch to it and I wish that they could have kept that with the other suits you get later in the game.

@@duplapsgip369 Yep I agree. At least is seemed likely what a future engineer might wear. All the later ones just seem like something people on the mining team would wear. But I guess there was still some logic to it like the more hazardous the environment the more armor an engineer would bring? But I still felt like an engineer should be this smart high-tech person who doesn't have to venture into hazardous environments, besides the vacuum ones

Even with weapons and armor to defend ourselves with, and the medical items to heal us I still never felt safe in this game, truly a job well done for a horror game

The saddest thing about this trilogy is that they forgot that the 1st game already had the best tone and feel of all. Yes, the 2nd game had better graphics, and a cool way to show off cinematics, but it didn't build upon the horror setting the first one had started.

Ironically enough, hearing the ambient music of the cursed ship and imagining the nightmares being held on its stage is a lot scarier for me than playing the game itself.

This was the best game I ever played until 2008 in my whole gaming experience since 1995 Pentium 1 PC

One thing I love about the Dead Space Games is the environmental story telling. Nowadays when I replay 1, 2, and 3 I take my time and look at my surroundings. I notice the stories when I do. A lone mangled human body surrounded by Necromorphs is one such story.

Some of the ambience is just Isaac breathing...

I've played this game over and over and even in my best suit with my best loadout, I still get nervous playing this

I have tried standing still for a long time in this game, and sometimes necromorph do spawn. But before that i can hear it in the vents, crawling. And sometimes i run away from necromorphs, then they go back to vents and follow me there until there is another opening for them to jump me (this doesn't of course work everywhere).

When it's Visceral, you know the game is going to be good. Case in point, Dante's Inferno, and of course Dead Space.

When you step out of the shuttle and onto the loading deck, you feel something isn't quite right, the crew deck is empty when it should be staffed then you hear the rumbling, the far off screams and the noises coming from the vents.

I'm a little disappointed the recorder didn't take the opportunity to walk forward and spawn the necromorph, just to fuck with anyone who sleeps to this

Falling asleep to this is actual pretty nice

Here after the announcement of the Dead Space Remake. I really hope that the game does well and potentially revives the series as a whole.

Imagine a necromorph on his way to kill Isacc, but then realizes he's recording and goes away to not disturb us

ain't never shot no dead bodies in games till I played this in '08. every dead space game after, and even outside of dead space games, I double tap bodies now xD

Knowing the effects of the marker on a victim's sanity, i wonder how many of those ambient noises isaac hears are real or just part of his dementia

I still cannot believe i finished this game on hard when i was 12 years old. And i wasnt allowed to play with my 360 outside of weekends, so i sneakily finished it only when i was home alone. Proud of myself.

I love how this game has Replayability, Dead Space is a horror masterpiece! While the sequels are okay nothing can beat the original it's easily the best one Plus a Remake of the first game is coming out for Next Gen Consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X the game will be made by Motive Studios the people behind Star Wars Squadrons!

few minutes after silent, a "bang" shock scream appearing in your video picture!!

I cant complete this game because of all those creepy sounds, my heart is crazy after each play session

Finally I can sleep happy.

The only game to give me PTSD. The tight, claustrophobic corridors and rooms of a ship that's floating in space, suspended in orbit over an uninhabited planet, with the only other life forms onboard being Necromorphs, made for one of the most harrowing experiences I've ever been through in a video game.

I need to re play this game...

Great for taking asleep

You know what always bugged me about Dead Space? Why there weren't any androids like those we see in Alien franchise? Think about it - these can't go insane due to the Marker and they are not organic so no necromorphing too. The crew that is 99% robots (except for Captain obviously) comes to Aegis 7, gets the Marker and leaves happily for Earth. Sure there would've been outbreak on Earth but by the end of Dead Space 3 that was an inevitability.

Issac be like "Don't mind me, I just stand here to listen to the sound"

This discourages humanity to become a space faring species Like you're on a space ship with those things you got no where to run .. Just disturbs me
