I worked at the Zayre DC. In Mansfield Massachusetts. Was w/Zayre for two years, when Ames Bought Zayre in 1988. When they went chap 7 or liquidation, us as associates at the DC heard they were closing on the RADIO ON OUR WAY TO WORK. Then Rocky Hill Connecticut the home office embezzled the Severace money they failed because we were unionized under the then Unite union the head of the union filed an injunction with the company . I received my last severance check in 2012 10 years after the company closed. And now they want to return . Yeah to screw over employees yet again . I speak the truth. BEWARE.

Dang, that sucks. Thanks for sharing your history with the company. I seriously doubt the company is coming back. They didn’t own patents or processes, so it’s just a name on the outside of a box that resells items that other companies produced… it makes no sense for a brand to come back when many people have forgotten or have passed away by now that went there years ago.

I remember Ames I think I was a teenager when they went out of business would be nice if they would come back

Agreed. The bigger thing that sticks out is the news stations I have watched that have actually reported on this… they offered no sources… at least any that I watched. This obviously is not a big issue compared to anything else in our world, but just curious to hear what others have to say. Thanks for watching!

I'd have to say, since it's been over 20 years since Ames was in business, I doubt if there's a serious effort to bring them back today. Up north, we used to have Pathmark supermarkets, before A&P bought them and subsequently went belly up. Allegiance Retail Services (owners of the Foodtown banner) bought the name, logo and other intellectual property in 2016, one year after the A&P bankruptcy, and opened a new Pathmark store in 2019. We didn't have to wait 20 plus years for Pathmark to relaunch. The longer a brand goes dormant, the less likely a relaunch will occur, or that it will be a success. In the words of Forest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."

You nailed it. Yes there have been examples of brands relaunching. I could maaaaybe see someone doing a chat vr Ames similar to the Kmart version and they are trying to build hype to gain participants. Also, the news stations reporting on this don’t seem to mention actual sources for the info they are broadcasting. Is someone just giggling at all of us or is there a real plan to make it happen???

It's possible, however, that it's all just part of an ARG. They could be creating fictional stories and characters to make it seem like the store is coming back, which is designed to create excitement and anticipation among people, but there's actually no real comeback happening.

Ames won’t come back at all There isn’t any proof or legitimate document or news report stating Ames aren’t coming back yet.

Online only if anything, but I doubt it. It would be insane to do it now in a recession. Toys r us won't be back brick and mortar either.

Agreed. They keep trying these TRU pop ups, but its not working. I think the store in American Dream is the only one holding on for the "new" version of TRU.

Toys R Us has been TRYING to come back for a while. As for BB&B, it’s online only yet i have seen a old abandoned BB&B store yesterday in the city but they had signs still inside.
