I’ve been going to this mall ever since I was a kid. I worked in the housekeeping department there for a few years and saw so many changes and renovations and ideas to keep the mall going. It’s still a thriving spot with great stores and great pop up events. So awesome to have you visit this still gem of a mall!! San Antonio TX 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I appreciate you elaborating on how it's a "dead mall" but still a mall that is surviving but in a different aspect. As a san antonio local, I always get asked my newcomers or visitors on why the mall still survives and that it's not a traditional mainstream mall we picture but it's a more community based mall. Like when I was in private school, the mall was used for dance performances when I did recitals and also been used for many other numerous events. The mall has a quirky and unique charm which makes wonderland mall so intriguing. Thank you for for the video!

I came to express these same sentiments. It's a dying mall forsure and recent developments(local city talks of Balcones Heights) have it even more in danger of completely folding. It's very much on life support though. I wish the this was filmed on like a weekday, cause oh boy despite the new and nice space of ARs arcade/area it's a ghost town and really drives home that dead/dying mall aesthetic.

YES!! This is my favorite mall. My mom frequents the Hobby Lobby there. I like the retro gaming and TTRPG stores they have in there. I just wish they'd bring the movie theater back and add a record store or a Hot Topic in there.

@@robthomas3664 The mall was originally built back in 1960 called Wonderland mall but in 1987 it was remodeled and they renamed it ''Crossroads Mall''. The mall is located where interstate 10 and loop 410 meet so that was obviously where they got the name from. In the later years around the 2010's someone decided to call it Wonderland of the Americas probably to boost more interest in the place. I always thought it was a nice mall and it was nice to shop at.

Central Florida has five malls on life support (and not much corporate support at that): the Seminole Towne Center in Sanford, West Orange Mall in western Orlando, Oviedo Mall (it became "dead" the day it opened), Fashion Square Mall in Orlando, and the Volusia Mall in Daytona Beach. Not exactly Central Florida, but there are a couple malls around Lakeland/Haines City that are dying or almost dead. The Mall @ Millenia and Florida Malls are going great.

Glad to see they are working to keep it open. Here in Cincinnati they are building a luxury apartment complex on the site of a former shopping center. Skytop Pavilion which after Bigg's close sank like a rock. Also now plans in the works for demolition of Forest Fair Mall. Another place that began sinking when Bigg's died. People are upset about it but not running to change it. One man has started a Go Fund Me to save it. But so far has one anonymous donation of $20. So they are at least giving it their all in Texas. Love your videos and enjoy the music 🎶 alot.

I'm old enough to remember when it was called Wonderland Mall and the main anchor stores were Frost Brothers and Montgomery Wards. Then it became The Crossroads and then it became the Wonderland of Americas. Whatever they called it, I always called it Wonderland. The only time I ever go there is for federal elections and (in the past) The Bijou theater where you could catch a lot of "arthouse" films.

A nice mall! I'm glad it is still doing well to this day. The arcade and skating rink place in one of the old andhors, looked nice. I only wish Golf Mill couldve tried this equally hard, to fill in all their vacant spaces. They did years ago, but more filled in(and relied too much on this IMO) vacant spaces with big box stores(i.e. they removed a side vacant hallway and filled it in with a Ross store). Sadly now this place seems on the verge of being demalled.

Wow, I live on the NE side of SA and it’s been about 8 years since I’ve been at this mall, I do HO Scale model railroading as one of my hobbies and they had a good size railroad layout in one of the vacant stores there for years. The area with the small shops made up with the metal screen panels or cages have some great niche market items that can be incredible. I met a master modeler there who did a little practical effects modeling for a couple production studios and his work is amazing. Glad to see the roller rink being made, great idea for a family outing. Back home as a teenager I met some nice ladies during couples skate.

I was in charge of retail operations for a small chain from 2010-2014 located in Simon properties. Original leases were around $100/sf- meaning most very small spaces paid $10,000 a month in rent. It was unsustainable. Landlord greed is the main reason brick and mortar locations are struggling across the US & UK.

Now it caters to everyone in the city, has more medical facilities and yea it’s where I got my Covid vaccine too lol. It had a very old school theater. Definitely a very old school vibe and people love it and just walk around the mall.

Last con was hotel and child’s play themed they had the original Andy there, his adoptive sister from part 2, the guy who was killed by that doll eye implanter machine in part 2 and they were supposed to have the guy who voiced the doll(not serial killer) who i know best as Young Al Bundy from married with children but he had to cancel his appearance last second
