DEAD MALL - Boulevard Mall - Amherst New York - Revisited | ERA_Productions

Hello everyone, and Welcome back to the Boulevard Mall in Amherst New York! Opening in 1962 as the first mall in the Buffalo region, Boulevard Mall would lead a retail corridor for the town of Amherst. It would live a successful life even with competition up until the 2010s. It still stands today as Buffalo's oldest mall, however, it does appear to be on borrowed time. With redevelopment of this property circling around, let's take a walk through the Boulevard Mall in case we never see it again!
Thank you ‪@Retail_Adventures_With_Alex‬ for walking me through here!

What are your thoughts on Boulevard Mall, and what do you think it’s future holds?

The way they handled entries to anchors from the interior is kinda interesting to me. Don't usually see too many that are almost flat/in-line with the other smaller stores.... Almost gives off a feeling of being bigger inside than out, especially with the Macy's entry.

Thanks for posting this. So many many memories and was such a large part of my youth, wish I could go back to those days. They just announced its closure today, feeling very sad and old.

So many memories here. We'd visit Santa at this mall. We'd throw pennies in the fountain to make a wish. We'd eat at the McDonalds before there was ever a food court. The arcade was at the very end where the food court expansion would eventually go. Of course we'd go to Kay Bee Toys. I remember getting a Night Rider car here. I remember seeing WGRZ's Lori Lisowski here. I remember running into the Sabres' Michael Grosek here. I could go on and on.

I have always enjoyed seeing videos on boulevard as you said, it is a nice charming 90s mall but this video I find particularly heart breaking. The mall is down to its last tenants and you can just tell that the mall doesn’t have much time left. Nice video Andrew!

Great video! It's sad to hear that the place may be getting demolished. I hope they can find a way to make it last.

I hope so too! It’s sad to see another mall bite the dust.

Oof. I used to go here quite a bit in college.... 10 or so years ago. It was pretty decent, but was diminished in my eyes when they replaced the entire food court with the Dick's. I'm a big fan of Tom Wahl's and loved going to the mall to get a burger.... so the redevelopment was a bummer. Wild to see the region go from 4 malls to one so quickly.

A map or overview of the area to see what the neighborhood looks like would have been nice.

I hear the Buffalo part of New York is a little better than NYC. Just in general.

Buffalo is a nice place, but I’ve never been to NYC so I can’t answer that. 😭
