I adore Dead Can Dance! I find them spiritual too and hypnotic. Pls do more of them. I particularly love "Opium", "Bird", "Host of Seraphim", "Return of the She-King", ... actually too many to name! "Now We are Free" was used in Gladiator, the film. Another artist, Loreena McKennitt, does a song called "Dante's Prayer" that you may like.

No matter how many times I hear this song, experience this song, it brings tears to my eyes. I don't know if they are tears of joy or pain, most likely both. It is always wonderful to see someone else discover and be touched by DCD and Lisa's voice.

Lisa is the greatest female singer in the world. David Hykes is also remarkable, and both have otherworldly chops. This is one of my top 5 songs of all, but I think I may prefer the version on "Toward the Within", which is essential DCD merch. She talks about breaking free from the prison of language, just before launching into a tender and touching rendition of Sanvean. The rest of the concert is there too, and outstanding all. Like Renaissance, they do no bad songs, and mostly great songs. They chose the name because they felt that music could animate the bones, make the dead dance.

You definitely know her. Lisa Gerrard perform the theme song of the Film Gladiator. Another great song "The Human Game". The male part of this Duo (Brendan Perry) sings also extrem good songs like " In The Kingdom Of The Blind The One Eyed Are Kings".

Dead can Dance was for years one of my favourite bands. Now, where I'm stumbling by accident across them here again, I ask myself, why lost track of them. I will definitely listen to them again now. They produced years ago countless albums. Partly with male singers, too. All of their old albums are pure genius. I definitely have to check KZread now for the stuff they produced in the time, when I stopped listening to them. Three similar bands, you definitely should react to: "Helium Vola", "Qntal" and "Deine Lakaien". Check out those three bands, please. You don't know, what you are missing, believe me! Greetings Mega

I didn't think I liked Lisa's voice the first time I heard her but explored her more. Definitely "mood" music. I love her voice now. I often lie back in my recliner and listen to "Sacrifice" with my headphones, the sound of her voice reaches into my soul and the world goes away..

Dead Can Dance will transport to you another time and place like no other band, and may have already done so if you've seen the film, Gladiator. When Hans Zimmer signed on to write the score, he instantly thought of Lisa Gerrard as a writing partner to capture that medieval sound DCD do so well. Toward the Within from aournd '94 is one of my favourite live albums, and I'd highly recommend Desert Song, Rakim and The Wind that Shakes the Barley to catch a glimpse into their musical talent, middle eastern and celtic influences, Brendan Perry's vocals, and more of Lisa Gerrard's amazing vocals on that last song.

I have to say I wish you'd listened to an earlier version of the song (e.g the one in the Towards The WIthin concert film). This one just shows how her voice has really deteriorated - in the '80s and '90s she was a force of nature, overwhelming. Lisa recommendations - Circum Radiant Dawn, Celon, Persephone, As The Bell Rings...; Brendan recommendations - Xavier, Ulysses, A Passage In Time, In Power We Entrust

If you like this, you would be terrified of this artist. One of the most terrifying songs I have ever witnessed live. I saw her perform this song in New York City in a church. I don’t know if you guys could handle reviewing this song….. Diamanda Galás- This is the law of the plague

Welcome in the realm of DCD and Lisa Gerrard, the most incredible voice on this planet, imvho. I would suggest you to listen to Elizabeth Fraser with Cocteau Twins, another fantastic singer. - Road River and Rail - Fifty Fifty Clown ( BBC sessions ) Finally, if you want to be mesmerized, taste the voice of Siouxsie Sioux with Siouxsie and the Banshees: -Sin in my Heart ( Live at the Royal Albert Hall ) - Take Me Back Happy listening

Unfortunately, as good as the performance was, the reverb in the hall caused overlapping notes making her sound sharp and flat at times. Ironically, her older recordings on VHS really show her incredible talent better, in my opinion.
