They were supposed to come to Vancouver in 2020, but Covid kicked in and the tour was canceled. I’ve been a fan since the early 1980’s. I saw their record “Within the Realm of a Dying Sun” at the library. The cover was just a sculpture and being a creative person I liked it so I thought I’d rent it out. I had NO IDEA what kind of music it was and was so shocked and amazed and happy to discover it and have been a fan ever since

The interviewer is obviously inexperienced, however, Brendan's reactions are just hilarious. I just love you guys, and your music. :)

No one makes music like- DCD. It's TRUE.

Brendan looks like he's hating every minute. But the first time seeing them NOT on the stage for me. GREAT to see! HOW can you possibly give DCD a genre. As Brendan said, "It's insulting!" There is music and there is Dead Can Dance! When I was first introduced to them in the late 1990s, it was a real WOW moment, and they are like nothing else on earth!

I think Brendan was referring to the term "world music" as being insulting to non-Western cultures and traditions - not anything relating to DCD.

Lisa looks like she’s in her 20s or 30s and Brendan is absolutely hilarious and it’s so surprising hearing how different his voice is talking from when he’s singing

This interview can come off as problematic but I think its great. I come back to it every so often. Brendan says some great things here. I dont care how the questions come off, because both Brendan and Lisa have great answers. What Brendan says about heavy metal fans being fashion based is true, so are the things he says about music labels and fascism. I think he was annoyed from the start of the interview because of the heat. When he gets up you can hear him complaining about the room being too hot.

He was ironic when he said that he likes metal. You can tell that Lisa laughs when she understands the irony, since the music they make has nothing to do with metal and, as they were giving an interview to a website about metal, Brendan was annoyed by the interview.

That whole interview is an insult to both of them, from asking them to pass the mic around, to those inane questions!

DCD don’t get mainstream exposure. They are frankly too good and too high brow. I suspect they find themselves doing interviews with the odd MetalTrails magazine from time to time, outlets that don’t know them but need the content. Brendan can clearly barely tolerate it. Lisa is all about the heart but also knows their viability depends on the odd MetalTrails magazine and the new fan or two it might drum up.

That interviewer was a bell end! How on the ball was Brendon with his prediction? Telling us all about right wing racism and dangerous times ahead. Well... just look at what's happened in the world since he said it and the state it's in now in 2023. Lisa looks stunning. How old is she here, 51? She's stunning. Brendon is clearly thinking... "For the love of god get me out of here" haha

In ONE SIDE, unpreparedness for an interview should be a career's ending event. On the OTHER SIDE, the one being interviewed should stop the interview or not give it altogether if he noriced the lack of respect of the interviewer's unpreparedness so to avoid looking like an ass.

I never would have thought that Brendan can be such a diva😅.... Just think, that there are and always were absolute Superstars who stayed humble the whole life, like e.g. Johnny Cash, who introduced himself at every gig he played ("Hi, I'm Johnny Cash..."), even after the peak of his career, and so did many others, even the Beatles... Don't get me wrong, i like the music of DCD, but this interview shows the person behind it...

I wish more people could understand that they're both just clearly uncomfortable here because the interviewer doesn't talk about their music, he just talks about music in general, and Lisa even points that out in the end.That can be irritating for all artists, no matter how popular they are, it's not the diva attitude, it's an honest disappointment. I was disappointed and puzzled just as much because there's so much to talk about to an artist but the bad haircut boy chose the genre talk

Brendan was offended from the start, before the interview even really got going. That's because (as hundreds of interviewers have done before with a variety of musicians) the interviewer asked Brendan and Lisa to introduce themselves to the audience. No question had been asked then; the "bad haircut boy" as you stupidly call him (because how do you know what his haircut looks like, the interviewer wore a hat throughout the interview that completely covered his hair, so that's just an assumption on your part, but far from a fact: you could also comment on Brendan's "hairstyle" if looks are so important to you) going correctly assuming that there may also be people who have only recently discovered Dead Can Dance and about the crowd want to know without knowing their names. If that's any reason for Brendan to start "f...you", I think that's a bit immature, sorry. If I behaved the same way towards customers who ask me disappointing questions, I would be fired long ago, that's for sure!

What an insult, introduce yourself? These are highly accomplished musicians. You’re lucky to have them. Who is this dude anyway? Lisa’s accepting this? They should of taught them a little about preparation, and get up and left. You’re making Brendan explain their work?

It doesn't matter how accomplished your work is, you're still nothing but a human soul. I think it's the complete opposite here, THEY should be thankful that they're actually getting an interview. There are hundreds of thousands of talented musicians who just simply fade to obscurity, they should be grateful for accomplishing anything at all, and not boasting around with such ridiculous entitlement.

Oh, and they're actually not so lucky to get this particular interview, cause the host sucks. It's you who is lucky they had enough patience and grace to continue their work. He ended up just walking out of there. I think there isn't much point interviewing them anyway, their music is enough. Also they have explained enough in past interviews and documentaries. Personally I have a few questions I would like to ask them but not necessarily about the music they make.

She was 52 at the time here and she's lived a very comfortable life despite her best known work being an underground/alternative act that people still care about after 40 years. Frankly, if she put on 100 more pounds I would not give a shit and neither should anyone else.
