"I was putting lots of queer and trans characters in because my friends were queer and trans and they weren't in comics so I was gonna put them in comics." Hearing that just warmed my heart so much. One thing I really appreciate in general about the Sandman and Dead Boy Detectives, e.g., is the fact that several queer characters exist in all shapes and forms, so to say, and it being completely normal. Because as George said, usually queer characters in media are quickly sexualized. Or they're stereotyped, have no distinct personality, ... So, watching The Sandman and Dead Boy Detectives felt really refreshing and freeing, and I can't thank you enough for it.

@@luiiiandmovieee Ty :)♡ I also wanna add to my original comment, forgot to mention it before, that I also appreciate how they said that there's nothing tragic about anybody's sexuality [in the show]. To hear this also felt healing to me personally, partly due to past experiences, and partly also because I feel like usually, when a movie/show doesn't sexualize/stereotype queer characters, they add a big tragedy regarding the characters's queerness (like big arguments when coming out / the time period not allowing them to be themselves / etc.) Or they do both. And while I know that it's important to represent that as well and that there are many shows etc out there that do it well, it was still an amazing feeling to just see queer characters be themselves without any big consequences to it. Don't get me wrong, I know there's still lots of angst in this show and I really like the way they did all of it, but it's just different from what I've usually seen in other shows/... I hope what I said is understandable 😅

@@cupcaketv5673 dw I know 100% what you mean and I feel the same. Like you said, of course it's good and important to show the struggles that come with being queer so that ppl feel seen. But here it's so great just to see queer characters who are not "tragically queer". It kinda feels like we can exist without worry and we don't need to apologize for it or explain ourselves and that's normal and okay and good

I almost cried when Neil was talking about the queer representations in his stories. Because as a queer person myself it's so wonderful that now stories like dead boy detectives and sandman can exist. Where being queer is normal and not a weird stereotypical thing or their only personality trait. Stories like these feel like we're actually seen and I just love to live in a time where it's possible

as a young queer kid in the 90's, it meant so much to me that there were character I could relate to in Neil Gaimans work. The Death series was my absolute fave and I bought so many copies as I kept giving it to all my friends to read.

Loved this show!!! I am ready for season two for sure. I think the character development is exceptional and everyone will connect to different things. I connected with Jayden’s ducky 80’s character, the supernatural/horror aspect, and the anime connection especially. Seeing Ruth from Supernatural was a bonus as well.

I think it was just a mistake. I used to say the same thing as I would make a habit of combining the two mediums together despite some animes not having manga and some manga not having anime.

The panels lineup is okay. I really like the author and the show. Which has me jumping up&screaming at times.
