As far as live performances go, this one is absolutely terrific. Lorraine's vocals stand out especially.

Their best ever. Absolutely brilliant. I saw them in Glasgow in 1989 when at Uni. Raintown is on of the best Scottish albums ever.

I remember having the privilege to be working at one of their sound checks in Liverpool Summer Pops about 18 years ago. I got to talk to Ricky and Lorraine and they were such a nice couple, and didn't act like stars at all. Ricky asked me to sit down, and then asked what I thought they sounded like - I'll never forget that, Deacon Blue asking me what I though they sounded like! Just to confirm, they sounded amazing - always have. Raintown is one of the best albums ever.

I think this is one of Lorraine's best vocal performances.

@@neutralfashionI assume you know the concert this is from is on DVD. It was fil med over two nights at the end of 1989. It is astonishingly good and so moving even all these years later. I saw them for the first time at de Montfort Hall, Leicester in the summer of 1989, the first and only time I was on the guest list for anything! They had just knocked Madonna off the top of the album charts with When The World Knows Your Name. Lucky enough to see them a few more times since.

OMG .... I simply dont have the words to give this song and version of it, the justice it deserves ................. and its 2022, only a mere 35 years AFTER it was written and it sounds better with age, absolutely SUPERB.

Life’s a bit crap at the moment. I’m sitting here watching this, bawling my eyes out. What an amazing bunch of very talented musicians. Stirrrrrrring!

2:45 "Tell 'em about it, Jim". I love his playing, excellent. Of course they're all great musicians, it's s a shame Ewan left, and Graeme sadly no longer with us. I've watched this concert so many times and couldn't pick a favourite song...so I'll say all of them! Yep, Lorraine has a great voice, especially on this song and her dance moves are great. She obviously loves being up on stage performing.

best band i ever saw live, Loraine is so full of love and emotion and so is Ricky in their performance it adds to the energy of seeing them live

I used to play their records over and over and over again and sing at the top of my voice till the neighbours decided to go out in their car, and even then I carried on. Pumping up the volume till I felt like I was at their concert. & I played my imaginary piano. Thank you Deacon Blue for making the music that I cling on to.

Just love it . My wifes family come from a mining village , her father and one of her brothers were miners . They told me that sometimes you had to crawl through a tiny space for maybe nearly a mile just to get to the coal face - and that was unpaid . The lyrics about mining move me deeply . The chances are that most miners died or will die ,young . You've been docked , docked again boys, you've been loaded 3 for 1 What have you to show for working now your mining days are done . Worn out shoes, worn out miners ,blackened lungs and faces pale..... They really deserved more

What joy I feel when I hear this...I was in my early 20s...no commitments, nothing...I was travelling to Los Angeles to see my old school mate...I was going to Hawaii, New York, Vegas...Tenerife in the winter...raves, town on a Saturday night, donor kebabs, Pepe jeans, Lacoste polo tops, Jazz aftershave, a flick haircut, a few girlfriends, an outstanding pool player, raced mountain bikes. Now...I'm 53, shaved head, divorced, two grown up kids...take Lansoprazole for acid reflux, have IBS wear Gant or Hugo Boss, Tom Ford aftershave, European trips away, have a watch collection including Rolex and Omega, released the girl I only really loved for her one true love...alcohol and lastly I fly drones and cycle.

Loaded ... always has been and always will be my favourite Deacon Blue song, it brings back countless memories from my teens.

Awesome band. To know they are from Scotland - it makes me proud.

I saw them in 1988 in Dundee. Ricky loved playing to Dundee. They took a break and just chatted to the crowd, and Lorraine is so so good. I have seen them a few times since but that was the best!

I'm in love with Lorraines voice and she is stunning too my favourite DB song seen these live so many times and will see them again

My wife is French and has learned to love their music. This is so heartfelt and the SECC performance is the best live set I have seen and I wish I had been there. The late eighties is so long ago now and it really is sliding into history. They sang songs that critiqued the disaster of Thatcherism, the ill winds that blew through the economy and whole of society. The consequences are still felt today. It breaks my heart to think that many of the audience will have experienced wholly unnecessary travails due to a system that is rigged against the working person from start to finish. Keep your hand upon your wages and your eyes on the scale indeed. That was when the unions were inclined to fight but not anymore.

Absolutely brilliant.deacon blue has came along way.Hope they many more great concerts great songs. Ricky and Lorraine are so good together.❤️❤️.

Haha, me too. I played it every day for ages. I think my family got a bit bored of hearing it! I didn't though. I still watch it now. Although Loaded didn't even make the TOP 40 charts, I still love it. I'm not sure why it didn't , as Raintown did quite well in the album charts.

Watched them sing this live in Leeds, incredibly emotional.

I was there, on the first night. I remember they had some audio issues that night so most of the video is probably from the second night. Probably the best concert I've ever been to.
