I agree , it really sounds perfect !!!!

Easily my fave band at the moment. Sassy, rocking and extremely likeable with real talent as musicians, songwriters and performers.

Dea Matrona is my new favorite drug. I ran across them randomly a couple of days ago, and now if I'm needing a boost at any point during the day or night I can just flip to one of their videos, new or "old' & be immediately uplifted. I've been a musician/singer for nearly 50 years & have played in bands, recorded/produced other bands, etc. There's something about the *earnestness* of these young people that just transcends any cynicism a crusty old rocker like myself might harbor (not to mention that they're just ridiculously good at both singing & playing multiple instruments, which alone is remarkable). I can't fully explain it but just watching them play makes me...verklempt, for lack of a better term. It's just so darned heart-warming, I get choked up at some point in every song. The energy, thought & care they put into every performance, whether in a studio, a nightclub, a bedroom, a street corner...they're always "on" in a way that's downright incredible. They can get away with what would appear to be a silly contrivance coming from anyone else, simply because it's impossible to doubt that they believe 100% in what they're doing, every moment. Honestly, I'm in awe. Mollie said in an interview that her Dad was in a fairly well-known Belfast Rock band years back, which makes me think about how the whole independent Rock scene seemed like it was dying out for a number of years. To me it looked like the "Indie Guitar band" paradigm was headed for the graveyard, maybe 20 years ago. But now it's reviving in a major way and the thing that jumps out at me is how it used to be pretty much a dudes-only game but now it seems to be a higher percentage of young women & other genders. Like the "old Dads" who used to be indie Rockers couldn't get their cis-male offspring interested so the others took up the mantle instead. Maybe that's too much projection but whatever is causing the upsurge of non-males playing Guitar Rock in the modern era I support it with every ounce of my being. Rock on, Dea Matrona. Wish I could find better words to express how much I enjoy what you all do.

Nice write up. I agree, the women are killing it on guitar today. Everything you said about Orlaith and Mollie is true. I’ve been following them since 2020 I couldn’t agree with you more.

Mollie has four sisters and at least two of them are also musicians, Mamie the former Dea Matrona drummer and the sister in between them in age is Rosie who is the singer an band called the Banshee Band and I think she plays guitar too but in the band she just sings.

Me too - went to watch Belfast buskers and fell in love with them !

The band got already a strong stage identity and a unmistakable sound signature. I am so glad to listen to their new songs as well to their earlier creations. The new song 'Red Button' is definitely a new hit for me. Cheers !

@@raymondchollet3199 no that's not what I mean. Dea Matrona have done loads of brilliant covers. I mean that every band I hear nowadays sounds like they are trying to re-live the 70s. They might write an "original" song but you can tell they are just writing a song that they think sounds like the 70s, instead of genuinely writing an original song, by themsleves in the style of music they want to write in.

This song sticks in my head for a long time after listening to it!!!!! And I have been listening to this and many other favorites from this phenomenally talented young musicians ❤️🔥❤️

This is a killer song, pun not intended. I love how there are so many recognizable retro themes and yet it sounds fresh and original.

Your songwriting is getting better and more catchy. You've always had the voices and performing talent. Keep it up! This was a good one. Everybody wants something new. Two words that are not normally seen together. i.e. Radar Love, Yellow Submarine, etc. No one is going to re-invent music theory, but lyrically you can still be unique.
