I’ve met Shane. He’s just like his dad. Super chill but ensures the product you get is the best.

RIP Hodad now Hodad Jr is running it, good for him, keep the legends alive and pass it on to his son.

One of the most enjoyable episodes of DDD. My go to episode when I'm hungry and about to eat. Never disappointing!

Rest easy Mike, your legend will never die. The boss man Jr. Will keep it alive.

That boiled, then grilled bacon move is genius.

We ate here in 2019 when visiting family in SD from Scotland..., and back this year to visit again, and will certainly be back to eat the best burgers on the planet...:)

these Burgers are still just as good as when The Boss Man was still alive.

I love what the burger guy said when he said, " when I die if we get to come back I want to come back as me", ... those are the words of a man who is very very happy with his life and who he is and is very confident in himself.... Cudos brother

Unfortunately he died in 2015.

I'm sitting here watching Triple D & I had no idea this dude passed away 6 years ago. I'm kind of blown away.

My brother in law used to work here! I love the blue jay burger and frings (fries and onion rings basket). R.I.P Mike Hardin

Shame he passed away. He was a genuine character who loved food😂

Went to the downtown San Diego location a couple months back while on vacation, had the double bacon cheeseburger and it was better than I could have imagined. I was so happy while eating I was laughing. Had a chocolate shake with my meal as well. Wasn't hungry for the almost the next 24 hours. Awesome punk/skater vibe at the DT location that reminded me of the punk clubs I used to hang out at back in the day but still clean and super friendly staff that it didn't scare or intimidate my kids. Loved every second of my visit there!

Love hodads form massachusetts but every time I'm in San Diego I visit and make sure I tip well

Just went to hodads this weekend it was the best I ever had. Loved it.

I met the Boss Man once when I was 8 years old. Very nice cool dude. I know he’s proud looking at his legacy he left here. RIP Boss Man

Stood in line 30 to 45 minutes Every time I go to SD and wouldn't ever complain about it the burger is worth the wait you get to berger spelunk you take a bite and you see darkness and you come back up with a smile on your face rip hodad and good luck Jr keep your poppa proud

This was one of the best I’ve seen as far as quality food and nice people

It's a shame I never get the honor to meet this awesome guy, let alone visit San Diego yet. If love to go to Hodads one day soon

He was a legit great person tried to greet everyone he could and made sure you were having a good experience. If you ever do make it down try sitting in the vw bus seat for the best overall experience but the burgers themselves will do the talking

He said in his next life he is coming back as himself...hits different since he's passed.

I like Hodad's burger build so much, that I build a lot of my homemade burgers the same way. I occasionally make the Beyond Burger, plant based patties are good for the environment. I built the Beyond Burger (which the patty size is about the same as two patties from Hodad's) in the same manner as Boss Man teaches in videos posted here on You Tube, I use the Sriracha brand of ketchup but other than that, everything else is the same. The best Beyond Meat burger that I've had to date is one built Hodad's style!.

Grew up going down to OB all the time, I still remember shortly after this episode dropped everyone was talking about the DDD episode the lines were down the street for a while.

How he pass

It’s not good anymore. Maybe the pandemic and supply chains made it too expensive to make the same way, but basically the meat is extremely dry, probably frozen and put together with eggs probably. The bacon patty… i ordered a bacon cheeseburger and it barely any bacon on it at all. The. blue cheeseburger was basically just blue cheese taste because the meat was so bland. This is the original location in Ocean Beach. The one i had in downtown 10 years ago was insanely good… it changed

Worst burger I’ve ever ate! Tossed it in the trash right there on the beach. Show dropped the ball on this one.
