    @7 Angels 7 Plagues SCV is much cleaner, but generally plays a lot more in your face. Blue knights are quite the opposite and play everything with huge dynamic contrast. I’m not saying SCV isn’t capable of playing like that, but they generally just don’t

    Ah man those drums sing! They're not just drumming, it seems they're literally singing a song all together like a perfect (in the human sense) song. And their quad technique from the percussion ensemble angle looks sooo nice. Would you do another one of these next year? And mayybe also put small little snippets of the quad and bass basics exercises (like all the 16th roll basic exercises like the snares)? Its cool to see the highest level group working on the most basic stuff, it seems like that's why they're so good

    Surprised to see so many variations in feet there. And I don't think I've ever seen someone mark time by lifting the front of their foot and keeping their heels on the ground. I don't even think I could physically do that.

    @ethans-d6105

    Marking time is something that is purely a functional thing now to help move the feet in time while playing. It realistically doesn't have to look great as long as the purpose is being fulfilled. As long as they look good on the move (which they do), it doesn't matter.

    Reece Carroll .. Ive got every right to judge any line I want... these are drummers who perform in public. I never said I could keep up or play at that level. I can sure judge it though. And don’t tell me the Bluecoats’ “show design” has anything to do with the way they act in warmups.

    You cannot judge someone unless you have walked in their shoes and understand the technicalities and nuance of what someone is presenting. If you have nothing nice to say about a corps don't say it all, especially if you don't march.

  • @benjaminkenobi21

    @benjaminkenobi21

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@OLAScape_ I simply don't subscribe to your rules about judging or expressing opinions, as I don't agree with those rules, and because you don't make the rules about what other people can judge, only yourself. I wasn't even talking about understanding technicalities in the first place. I was talking about how the attitude of the SCV line comes across in videos versus the Bluecoats line, and my perception of that. To say in 2020 that somebody can't understand technicalities and nuances of playing just because they haven't marched in a corps is horse shit. This whole experiential-based assessment of whether somebody has or doesn't have a right or a platform from which to judge is just nonsense. There are probably kids younger than you that aspire to march a DCI line that can assess technicalities far better than you ever could. Their judgements and my judgements are just as valid as anyone's... who the f*ck are you to say it isn't? And why should any of us care if you don't agree with that?
