I have been a lifelong baseball fan and was exposed to cricket during a 9 week stay in Australia. There definitely is potential for cricket to find some level of popularity in the USA, because of exposure by TV and internet and immigration from cricket playing countries to North America. I do not think it will ever overtake baseball here, but I do think it will find a niche as rugby is starting to do. It is a really good game and it has a future in North America.

There's a logic behind IPL franchises owning teams all round the world. They want to protect their interest in India. They want India and IPL to remain as the biggest market in Cricket. So they own all the teams and make it a controlled growth and always beneath the India level.

USA 🇺🇸 is starting their own Major League cricket (MLC) this july - July 2023 and all the teams except one are owned by the different IPL (Indian Premier League) team owners and thus will have a similar sounding name and jerseys. It would be played in a 20-overs each side (T-20) format and the game will last usually around 3-4 hours. Believe it or not, USA 🇺🇸 is going to be the next biggest thing in world cricket 🏏 and per forecasts, USA could be one of the most challenging and competitive team in the next 15-20 years. So, WATCH OUT FOR MLC in the USA 🇺🇸 and attend those matches to get yourself familiar and be one of the early adopters of the game as a fan in the USA.

Why wouldn't this MLC put a team or multiple teams in Florida. It makes no sense. Most cricket fans live in Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando. MLC is all over the place. Wish the league luck but if it's not successful they can point to not having teams in Florida.

It will be very difficult to make it happen. American Football, Baseball and Basketball attract all the talents in school. Even Soccer is struggling to get a grip there. For cricket to get that young American talent is a long shot.

To be fair, if you want to promote a sport, then you need a good standard of players, to show the best the sport can be. Not something substandard. I am from the UK and the IPL is the best league in the world. Very few British players, but watching top class cricket is what it is all about. Yes it's a shame that only 7 American born players are involved. But you will see that improve if it proves popular and more take it up.

I love Yanks. They sacrificed so many to save my country. I'll never let them forget that. But could they find the time to truly appreciate a 5 day, cricket test match?

The first Indian sikhs came to this part of the world in world war 1 the Sikh regiment and settled here. Some of them are 5th generation means their mom daddi grand daddi and her mom are born here. There’s nothing Indian about them besides the culture languages and food and ofcourse the desi looks
