Who knew one day I'd see Nepal Cricket in talkSport but here we are. Amazing content. Paras Khadka now is the current Secretary of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). He is doing an amazing job and is exactly the catalyst required in cricket administration to stir up the growth of cricket in the nation. Paras is known as a visionary captain on field and he took us through the fifth division all the way up to the first thus giving us an ODI status. He is now bringing in revolution inside CAN and I believe as you said, we too expect for the game to grow so much so that we might have a test status by next ten years.

Tbh i love how much jarrod knows about nepal cricket. We do need a couple of 90mph bowler preferably a left arm pacer also need some of these guys to grow up and take responsibility in the big stage. The players and young and if they get enough franchise exposure we can go a long way.

@@nooneknows19bro we've finally got an ABSOLUTE ELITE fast bowler after ages who bowls 90mph consistently, used variations beautifully, uber consistent with line and length and is absolutely CLUTCH in every game at any moment u need him to be + he's almost feared by batters and they'd rather play him out than attempt to play him. India has never had all this TOGETHER in a fast bowler, cherish this greatness I say

  • @lokeshdhakal315

One thing to note about Nepal is despite being young cricketing nation, cricket has been there for very long time. Back in the days when Nepalese national cricket team wasn't known to global audience, we used to have audience to sit in home and watch entire 5 days test series, be it ashes or India vs Pakistan. Among Nepalese, we used to have hard core fans divided between Australia, India, Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka and W Indies. And these fans never missed a single game which were brodcasted over TV. I myself have bunked school couple of tim3s so that I could watch India Vs England test series or India Vs SAF test series. I doubt you will find any single audience from associate nation who has watched 5 days of test cricket live in TV unless the person has root to common wealth countries. But in Nepal, you will find them in hundreds of thousands. For these hardcore cricket lovers, it has been cherry on the top to see their own national side grow in global stage. It is very unfortunate that despite all these craze over the years and yet we failed to develop solid domestic level cricket to prepare better team, specially pool of talented batsman.

The most cricket mad, fans? Yeah one of the obviously. Keeping aside the political scene, infrastructure, and financial support for the players, I agree that we need one or two fast bowlers that can go around 90 mph. We have a decent crop of spinners. Batsman have talent, but they need to be consistent, and not commit the same mistakes again and again. I also think, we need few high quality foreign coaches or consultants. Our head coach's doing great, but I think we need few more experienced deputies for him like batting coach, maybe a fast bowling coach specifically. I won't go on to say bring Brett Lee as our coach but someone with enough experience to mentor these fast bowlers is needed. Regarding, the number of matches against high quality teams, I mean ICC has to do something here. CAN is trying their best but they can't to anything alone. We fight fiercely with associate nations for say 2 years, quaIify for the mega events, and the sheer gap there with test nation topples up, although the gap have been reducing. I liked the Simon Doull's idea when he presented the idea of including associate nations in tri-series with two test nations. Another idea is to persuade nations when they are visiting neighboring countries. If South Africa is visiting India for a series then persuade them to play 3 match t20i series with Nepal as well. Even their A team will do. About the super star mentioned, Paras Khadka remains on top I guess, Sandeep definitely is one, despite his future still not fully clear. Dipendra Singh Airee is on the way to become one but as stated, one of our player, must get into the big leagues IPL or Big Bash, on a regular basis. Also, having only one or two superstars won’t help much. We need exposure for most of the squad members. Afghanistan skyrocketed not because Rashid or Nabi was a superstar but, because almost their entire squad were playing in Pakistani leagues especially PSL regularly. I mean in terms of pure cricket talent, especially fast bowlers, PSL is not very behind with other leagues and playing against them regularly benefitted the Afghans. Even now, see the Afghanistan Squad of t20WC and almost everyone plays in the IPL. There have been rumours about our players being able to play in Indian domestic circuit and all. That’s good if it happens but I don’t think it will. So, our own domestic structure needs reformation. Regardless of everything, we have the youngest squad in terms of average age. I won’t be surprised if from say 7 8 years after, we might still have the same main squad, that is good if we think about all the experience that they’ll get and the better player they’ll become. Obviously, things like mindset, or say professionalism comes into play, but our boys are getting there slowly. Test status is still a dream. It will take 10 to 15 years I guess. But we will be there!!! Jay Nepal !!!

Players like Paras Khadka were earning like 10 pounds a month before the wcup in 2014. Paras Khadka being in the board of CAN as secretary is improving Nepals cricket massively and its only gonna improve from here.

BCCI won't support Nepal Cricket unless Nepali Players are selected based on merits not by political recommendations in Nepali team.

All great but Nepal just being slightly more stable country than Afghanistan is quiet laughable. One should walk in the streets of Kathmandu and Pokhara and dare to do the same in my be Kabul. You should see the different in seconds :)

One of the main reasons is there is not good salary for player, those who are good in cricket partners don't support cricket and have to go abroad for work and sufficient money.
