    I used to work a lot places as a sound guy, [since the 70's] and I've seen all the styles evolve over the years, and still love watching you guys/gals. OK, I'm old, but that doesn't make me any less appreciative of the talents of everyone regardless of the different styles. You're all BRILLIANT. When whoever is really good at whatever their style is, then that doesn't make 'em any less talented when doing either Melbourne shuffle, hard, jumpstyle, cutting shapes or whatever. If you're good, you're good. I can watch you guys for hours. Love you's all....

    As someone that used to break-dance, I think that this style of dancing is awesome - so energetic. Synchronised dancing is something that I've always enjoyed watching and doing. It's so uplifting and requires a lot of skill.

    Each style shown has their own level of complexity and energy behind them. Cutting Shapes has very intricate footwork and requires the dance to be very nimble on their toes. The Melbourne Shuffle is meant to look fluid and as if the dancer is gliding effortlessly across the floor. Jumpstyle is a very explosive style with the dynamic moves it provides. In my opinion, Cutting Shapes and Hardstyle use the most energy out of the three given styles because of their intricate footwork, whereas you don't need as much force to move with the Melbourne shuffle. All three use the full body for extra flare with their moves, each in a different way. As for being able to coordinate a routine, Hardstyle is one of the easier styles because of the move sets that are around. There is no true winner to the whole video, because each style has their own personality and difficulty.

    In the late 80s / early 90s Running Man morphed into the Melbourne Shuffle and spread to Sydney fast. Because its a freestyle thing I've seen all sorts of different takes on it. My brother and I had been breakdancers and lockers, and these influences fell together naturally - not from making decisions, but from copying people at the club/rave. There was a lot of open playfulness on the floor where we danced, even among strangers. People were friendly. What I love about the Shuffle is that you can flow for so long, letting momentum do a lot of the work while you bliss out on dance.

    Not enough energy or heart in cutting shapes just a plain hop/skip and jump to plain sounding music for a plain average anybody to be able to do.... shuffle and jumpstyle alot more dedication to achieve good skill set, for a individual with a refined taste in music for a much more energetic sound and displaying alot more passion and joy in the way they dance.... @@filthiestcurriedsausageini2625 I disagree. I think, even if Melbourne shuffle may be harder to perfect, there's still less variety in it, and it just looks like the dance equivalent of headbanging. There isn't any style or "soul" to it. Cutting shapes, on the other hand, really gives its music new life, and can be used as a tool to not only convey exactly how the dancer hears it, but to amplify that interpretation. That's not something you get with Melbourne, which always has that same hyper-energetic feel to it. As to "a refined taste in music", don't you think that's a bit narcissistic? Just because you like a particular genre of music doesn't make it any more or less refined. The way it looks like from my perspective, the type of music people Melbourne-shuffle to is a bare-bones beat coupled with boosted bass, with very little else to it. Not that different from something like hardbass, actually. So, idk man, not sure I agree with your comment. To each their own, I guess.

    None is better than other, just different. All great on those who know to dance. Cutting shapes is visually smother and groovy. Melbourne Shuffle is more energetic in its step movements, like comparing hardcore music to house. Both are based on slid over the ground, while Jumpstyle is more physically expansive with wide movements on the air (kicks).

Cutting shapes don't have the FreeStep base, only the variations and combinations

    In 2005 I started doing Jumpstyle. In 2006 I started shuffling, which is still do occasionally. I have seen how cutting shapes started and at first, I thought it was total shit, but then when it matured a bit, I started to like it. It has its own feel to it. In fact, I started learning that as well, still love it. I don't think any style wins here. They're all quite different and have their own uniqueness. Although there is one style I adore the most, that's Melbourne Shuffle of the era 1997-2003 (before it was taken over by hardstyle), which shares a couple of similarities with cutting shapes. Keep it up and keep it alive!

    of course it does. PsyProgg, you don't dance one of both either huh? I dance cutting shapes but really look forward to learn melbourne shuffle - both include the running man. Difference is that hardstyle needs way better technique and higher velocity of the running man. Cutting shapes has more moves and other parts in it.

  • @psyprogg7310

    Yea u are right, I was shuffling since i was 17 and stopped it with 24, im 28 now, same with jumpstyle but danced it not as much as Shuffle. Cutting Shapes is a complete "new" dancestyle, that includes maybe one half element from Shuffling, but its nothing what we can call "a completed version" of Shuffle. So i can tell u, Cutting Shapes has nothing to do with Shuffle. Shuffle means u are sliding over the floor, making sidesteps, kicks, spins and u are dancing it to a faster music. That u write "both include the running man" tells me that u are the one who dont know anything about my dance. Its like u would say, Spaghetti Bolognese is like Spaghetti Carbonara, because both includes Spaghetti. Just learn it, i wish u fun.

    @mkmbstudio6950

    I know what you're trying to say - melbourne is very different - but still, the running man is in fact a big part of both (in cutting shapes it's way less important due to the mass of other moves you can do). Depends on the expression; I'm not saying cutting shapes is like melbourne shuffle! Obviously not. And I do know a bit about melbourne shuffle, I tried doing the basics to hardstyle music but just a bit, just a few times, just for fun.

  • @PartyMain
    @PartyMain4 жыл бұрын

    WTF, I didn't even know cutting shapes was a thing! wtf, i wanna learn that shit right now. Also jumping is pretty nice but it comes mainly down to basic jumping + hardstyle/hardjump with power shots/moves which makes it look very impressive. Mellbourne Shuffle seems decent to learn if you already can shuffle sideways and front/backwards, if not; oh boy, you got a lot to learn
