I found a good strategy for bases. No walls just tents in the very isolated parts of the map(s). I bury the best loot in other spots while having tents of basic gear with camo nets within the forested areas. I've learned over the years that walls are made to be blown up, so if you don't have gates and walls to blow up, and the tents are hidden well, nobody messes with it. Even if someone finds it, they're not getting my best stuff, and I'm not out several hours/days of building or looking for tools to build. Being an older guy with a life outside DayZ I just don't have time for that anymore. Priorities and such. Regardless, this is a nice base, just not too sure about that 100% safe bit. Best base is one that is hidden, and not found easily. I've had multiple bases go months without detection this way on both Chenarus and Livonia. I've had a few right next to Tisy and it's gone completely unnoticed, even on official servers. GG survivors. Stay safe and undetected out there.

Amazing, did the same, hackers can see buried loot. Lost most of it, my advice is hide it in plain site, leave weapons empty, have loads, people rarely can take EVERYTHING!, have a semi secure base with 4-5 walls/gates, that you can use while logged in, even if you die, doubtful they will get in, in time. Log out with all the ammo/guns/nods that you want to keep. AKMs are good enough guns, hoard them, they can't take 20 AKs and 100 empty mags.

I do the same. I often put tents in certain locations with bait gear just to see if it was taken. If not then I move in for a while.

Add the fact its not 100% safe if you have the ammo just have to shoot out the gate at range from the flats why someone watchs your ladder would take time then it's just build up till your there and raided so not 100% safe

You remove it before you go down then place it when your in your base. Probably be good to have an alt to remove the fence kit then climb. Basically it's a safety measure to keep people out of your base once you're in. Only thing don't get killed cuz then no one will be able to enter that base not even you.

It didn't work for us. We couldn't get in but we were still able to be raided. We were online at the time so not sure if they were using some kind of chest or what? He mentioned being able to glitch in. There were two of them. We killed them a bunch of times. But eventually they won. Any thoughts is there a way to glitch in or are they using cheats?

Does this only work for this building, i tried it on the apartments and it fails

The base is good, but they can shoot you if you climb up the ladder. So it's a little risky. But for sniping, it's a luxurious place. Someone said in the comments that if they attack you, you don't stand a chance. But again, it depends on what server you're playing on. I play on a GCA server where there is a maximum of 30 people in the evening and during the day about 15 + there is more loot. I've had a base in my shack for a month now (I hope I don't jinx myself with this comment :D ) and no one has picked it yet. But we'll see. But on the one hand, again when there are 30 people on the server so the action is almost none it's the stupid thing about it. But for me it's great at least I have peace of mind xD

Dont like the exposed bases but good work and good trick the fence kit. I doesnt know this. For me the best base is in the next down floor inside room on the same building. More than a month with my base and you can do a separate room for save the more valuable things inside the room and the more consuming things out.

We playin Livonia at CMC which has same architecture. But the fence kit doesn’t prevent dismount from ladder. I built wall similar to yours, facing inward. Feel like I’m missing something.

With my fear of heights I would die irl while trying to build the first wall. Nope. Never :D I feel anxious just watching it.

The bigger question for me is , where u getting the Logs and with nothing on you and decent b.pack u talking 3 logs carry max each trip, then we talking 18 planks per wall each trip, that's 4 saws , 36 nails a sharpen block and axe, pickaxe and sharpener. Wire, fence kit...If u solo that's a lot of kit to build in a shit spot in middle of large populated area ?? The ladder great idea but lot of work for a long slog back n forth to build and long slog coming home and leaving every time...

Precisely why I got my base in the boonies lol, no road or path leads to it and it's somewhere where nothing spawns so no reason for anybody to be out there. Only ways to find it are by complete accident which is unlikely, knowing its location beforehand, following me which I'm extremely cautious and never take the same route or knowing what landmarks to use as reference so you know you're going the right way. Base is over a month old and nobody has found it.

Place the fence kit on the floor behind your wall don't put it down or the system will absorb it on reset. If you put it outside the wall someone will steal it because people alot of the times are to lazy to make their own stuff lol

Yeah, you need alt accounts, and leave one in the base at all times only to open the door for your other players.

How much hours did that base last you

What about doing the same trick but in any of those buildings with a small ladder inside? Can you do it? Buildings like hospitals for example

@@andersonandrew112 its the fence kit. and shelter kits and flagpole kits. if the inside of the kit is facing you, it will inhibit movement upwards but not downwards. i learned about this with fence kits used on watchtowers. watchtowers have a front, left, and right side but no backing...unless you place a fence kit on it to 'cap' the back. so if you cap the back side of the second level, you cannot move from the first level to the second level until you dig the two logs in. i never thought about using it as an exploit tho, super cool until they fix it. and they eventually will im sure.

Stupid idea. This doesn’t work 100% of the time and even if it’s perfected it’s 100% visible and dupers can m79the crap out of the walls and destroy everything to despawn it. Not to mention they can gas the crap out of it, so defending it is almost impossible. Low key stash spots and bases are the closest thing, but everything eventually gets found and raided.

With thumpers, not safe anymore. Even a ladder trap here can be shot out or a walk on head player can shoot out the frame. Only one place is 100% and it's not here.

@@1apathetic ya sure, no one can get up if you place the fence kit and log out...but here are two REAL problems. one, every time you leave your base you have to take the fence kit down and go loot or whatever, leaving your base totally vulnerable with just one wall that can be shot from the ground with less than 250 high cal rounds. two, if you somehow get killed while up top, then even YOU cant get back into your own base after you make your way back from the coast. itll stay untouched until it all despawns.

I build in like those tall towers in cherno, people tried to raid me 2 times and both times they blew themself up in the elevator shaft, since it´s really tricky to blow somethink up there and climb down the later fast enough. Of course it works when u boost the first steps and not blow it up in the elevetor shaft or use crafted expos but they never did XD ( this makes it more difficult for normal players). And if they do so i have like 4 walls in between. Also its really hidden since no one really loots those buildings and there is a lot. And the best part u can snipe Bolota Airfield safely from your roof, wich i never did. This is the only base location i had so far wich felt kinda safe, but surely nothing is safe in DayZ.

Interesting, i wonder if patched already?

Patched what? That location still works and there's better ways to build it. As long as you get through the building phase with no protection and don't mind the climb it's an awesome location. Ideal for a squad or faction

why is that 100% safe?

Im getting sick of dayz as I'm base.builder but with no security for bases , it takes a good week to get a base set up with all bells and whistles , if Ur solo forget any metal on it...and someone sees it that's it..next day it's gone..someone alone can dismantle the whole base in less than a hour...a week work dedicated to it for a hour to lose...how is that productive play..if the Devs ain't bothered to sort this which they not I been playing over year and seen no updated progress on base build mechanic. Having someone able to break in so easily just makes a laugh of it all...no trap defences , nothing . It's terrible aspect and the only one interest me in the game..
