Got to have a 4955. I drove one for a few years .it was a good work horse.

4955 without adoubt, drove both 47 and 49's when I worked for a JD dealer, the best I drove was one of the last 4955's with the moved exhaust, great tractors

Check the voltage on the coil on the solenoid. Some big machines run on 24 volt. Archimedes.

The sillhouett is a potato harvester. I recon Andrew bought the 4955, The best way to clean a stained saucepan is to cook rhubarb in it, probably acid so will clean ur bowser. The JCB with marker boards is on its way to the docks and going for export. Marker boards are manditory in some European countries on agricultural vehicles.

49 I have a feeling I've seen it for sale on tff. The little JCB seamed a handy tool. Hope wasn't to big a hit for him

For the fuel bowser you can use exhaust gas to purge it and clean it, doing a purge will remove fuel stuck to the sides if you get it empty, then if you fill it up with something to wash the inside you’ll get a really nice clean job.

@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer you put some pipe on a vehicles exhaust pipe and run it into the bowser, then turn vehicle on and give her some revs for a bit, for say half an hour, and it will essentially dry the inside of the tank and will remove any fuel vapour left inside, then you can give it a really good clean without having any fuel contamination with what your trying to wash it wish, which makes it harder to clean. What would be best to clean it with I’m not sure tbh. It’s a common method used for cleaning and welding fuel tanks so it doesn’t catch fire while doing so

The solenoid problem sounds like what its driving is under alot of strain, could be a bearing gone on the conveyor or something binding up, only way to check is to take off the belt and try turning the rollers by hand to see if you can find whats binding

The rhubarb derived (by boiling up rhubarb leaves) chemical is oxalic acid. It will dissolve iron oxide (rust). Once cleaned out you'll need some form of waterproof coating to stop further corrosion. Cheers, Gavin

I sometimes drove a 4955 on farm I worked on as a student. Remember carting rape with it and never used to drop rpm at all when going uphill fully loaded. Think it was only 30k though! Wouldn't want to be going from forward to reverse too often. A bit annoying coming all the way back down through gears to get reverse.

There was only one 4955 get her bought Sam 🙏👌💪💪👍

Is the solenoid AC or DC? AC coils get hot / burn out if the slug doesn't pull right in properly because of mechanical problems in the valve.

Could you clean the inside of the diesel and then put like a paint or coating in and turn the bowser over and around to coat the inside.

I hope he bought the 4955. Looked tidier and why not go for top of the range! Looks like a Grimme GT170

Proper Tractors will still doo a days work when the electronic gizmo ridden tractors of today have all gone to that great short circuit in the sky

I have seen it Advertised not far from where I live .4955. £28.500.

Those 55’s used to have a jump when coming down the gear box, think was about 12th. Could leave skid marks if shifting down too soon.

Nearly put myself through the windscreen of one of these when shifting down to fast one day, lesson learned.

You should buy the other Deere keep as a superb pair to work together .

Sure he will have the 4955. Are you sure the coils you have swooped are actually the same ( not just look the same) the bed drive will be variable speed so a proportional control, the others will probably be on off control. They often have a different coil type. Red or green light is just what led is in the plug top. ( though makes you wonder if it different if that had been on from new) Does the speed vary correctly or is it running flat out? If so try turning the speed down and see if it is still getting hot

It engages clutch for belts for the Hydrolics to turn on so prob is open all the time
