Just did Madrid-Sevilla-Córdoba-Granada last fall! Southern Spain is phenomenal. I remember reading my guidebook and being overwhelmed (in a good way) with all the choices for places to see around Sevilla. Did Córdoba as a day trip from Sevilla.

This video reminds me of my teachers from Spain. What I like most about this video is the Spanish architecture and watching people go by.

We weren't big fans of Seville, but loved every day trip. I think we are just too in love with the North half of Spain. Leon is our favorite followed closely by Segovia, Bilboa and Gijon. (We don't like large cities😅😅)

Just be mindful that it will be very hot in June (e.g. above 100F, near 40C). I went in March/April last year (2023) and both Seville and Cordoba broke 100F. It was a dry heat so the shade really helped. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids. I will be in Spain next week so it should be a bit cooler this time.

Thanks for the tips! I’ve heard of the brutally hot summers but as it gets closer it becomes more real. I’m hoping AC is somewhat commonplace. I’d have to assume so as these places are not stuck in the past.

Love the video, I visited Sevilla about a year ago and it was a pleasant surprise. I loved the architecture. I enjoyed Cadiz as well. The seafood market is worth visiting in Cadiz. I loved the Uni (sea urchin) served there.

We spent 5 days in Malaga over Easter and it was wonderful to experience. Plenty to see and experience especially the Easter activities as well as the beautiful beaches and of course it has many Art galleries (home of Picasso). Agree Rhonda is definitely worth a visit. Cordoba is very beautiful and also amazing during Easter. Spain is a great country to visit during Easter. We spent a month in Spain (we were on a motorcycle) it is a very easy country to get around in by care etc. Roads are great.

Somewhere not too far from Sevilla is the town of Arcos de la Frontera. If you've got a car, worth stopping off for.

You should consider Huelva, it has wonderful beaches in El Portil & El Rompido... Only 1hr drive from Sevilla, it always gets overlooked! Hidden gem..

Mezquita means mosque in Spanish. I agree Ronda and Cordoba are great day trips from Seville, but Cadiz is a truly fantastic city.

Great advice yet again sir. I have been to Spain only once because of a long layover. I left the airport and found a hotel in the middle of Madrid and I loved it and vowed to return. I am looking forward to exploring Seville and the day trips from there sometime in the future. Thanks, Mark.

If you end up in Granada or Malaga for a bit I recommend a day trip out to Nerja, a small coastal town. You can take a bus up to Frigiliana as well

I visited Cordoba for the day, got there super early in the morning and my first stop was the mosque-cathedral so it wasn’t crowded, and as a bonus, it was free! If possible, I definitely recommend 2 days in Granada, there is so much to see, and the Alhambra and Generalife is an entire afternoon, in my opinion. And yes, must book in advance! Malaga is the best for both beach and city! Great video!!!!

Great advice, but Granada would be a really tough daytrip. Granada would require at least two days on its own. The Alhambra would take several hours to appreciate and the rest of the city (the Cathedral, the clubs with authentic flamenco dancing, etc.) would also be worth at least a full day. While Cordoba is a short distance via AVE train, along with the Mesquita in the daytime, the city comes alive at nighttime, especially with musicians playing on the Roman bridge. I can't conceive of a way to make Gibraltar a daytrip., There is not train that goes nearby. I took the bus from Sevilla to la Linea de la Concepcion (the town across the border from Gibraltar (most Spaniards don't like being reminded that Gibraltar isn't Spanish so it's best to say that your destination is "la Linea" and they will understand)). The bus trip was three hours long with no stops to go to the bathroom. Fortunately, I held off from drinking any fluids and that prevented an accident. Anyway, between the bus trip, crossing the border, visiting the Rock and sightseeing the town, it's best to give Gibraltar a full day. It's easier to do daytrips in Gibraltar from southern towns like Marbella, Algeciras or Tarifa or even from Tangier, Morocco. As for Sevilla, along with Madrid, Barcelona and Granada, it is one of the must visit cities of Spain. The most fun is to come during the Feria de Abril (April Fair) two weeks after Easter. Everyone is dressed up in traditional clothing and there is a festive atmosphere. I did go to see the bullfights during the fair. It was an elegant, highly stylized and traditional event. Nonetheless, ultimately I saw it simply as animal torture. So, it was a first person learning experience but I will not do that again.

Thank you Mark, always appreciate your practical travel advice. Ronda is a beautiful city - fantastic views and Malaga is such a worthwhile city to visit, so much to absorb. In Jerez I took the opportunity to see how sherry is produced and it is a visit I'd recommend, if time allows. Beware of the apes in Gibraltar, they are clever thieves ---

You should have mentioned Italica and Medina Azahara in this video. Maybe also Camanito del Rey. Other big cities like Malaga, Grenada and Cordoba really deserve more than a day trip.
