Day Trip To Carlisle Castle And Museum Of Military Life

We take a trip to Carlisle Castle. English Heritage have opened Carlisle Castle for visitors who book a timed ticket.
"For 500 years, until the English and Scottish crowns were united in 1603, Carlisle Castle was the principal fortress of England’s north-western border with Scotland. A mighty stronghold in the frequent conflict between the two countries, and the base of the lord wardens attempting to control an unruly frontier, the castle has endured more sieges than any other place in the British Isles. Unlike most medieval castles, it has been continuously occupied since its foundation by William II in 1092. From the 18th century to the 1960s it was the headquarters of the Border Regiment, one of the oldest in the British army."

Wow! This was really interesting, and even better somewhere to put on a list of places that accept dogs. 👏🏻🐾🐾😍 We find so many places that do not allow dogs in, and we wont go anywhere that we cant take our two girls with us. Just spent a few days on a campsite, where there was one family with childen, on the whole site and they just ran riot! Yet almost every pitch had at least one dog, and you never would have known that they were there. We have grown up daughters and two grandaughters , so its not that we don’t like children, .. just wish that places would be more dog friendly.

well you two are happy to be camping and out and about again, but so are we who are viewing life through your lenses :) BTW Bob, we do enjoy seeing the road trip also, as it reminds us of the travels we took back back when, and love to see the signs, round-a-bouts, motorways, narrow roads and stone walls along your routes. You two are doing our travelling for us now and we enjoy every inch of it! This castle war museum was extraordinary. So many keepsakes from various wars. A very interesting video-thank you so much for taking your time to show us the details.

Probably The most exchanged castle in the UK. Held by England, then Scotland, then England, then Scotland, and so on and so forth for many centuries. We last held it on the way back from Derby during the 1745 Jacobite rebellion.
