    Thanks so much for watching this video! I seem to have spark a fire. My intentions always on this channel is to show my experience good, bad or ugly and nursing is not a bed of roses, trust me! I have a lot of stories I could tell, I was actually gonna take this out of my video bc a similar situation happened to me before and I recorded it and edited it out of the vlog, but I wanted to share this. Giving someone a hard time for doing their job is NEVER ok! rude comments, the staring up and down and that perplex look on some faces. I always think to myself that person is just so shocked that I am a NP! Welp continue to be shocked! 😏 One 💚

    GIRL, the rudeness of some nurses is just so unreal! I have an NP at my hospital that is always so rude and snarky to me specifically for no reason at all, but so nice to everyone else. I've just come to realize (which I'm sure you have too) is that if people want to be rude and nasty all the time, they are the issue! You just keep your head held high and continue to do your job, because you're awesome at it! I'd kill for a great NP like you at my hospital.

Currently working on my Prereqs for nursing with the hopes of getting into the nursing program fall of 2021 here in Maryland. Plan to follow up with my BSN and the hopes of becoming a Pediatric Primary Care NP. April 12th 2020 I lost my 2 year old little boy to a tragic accident so now I use that tragedy as fuel to push through school, to learn all that I’ll need to know when it comes to caring for my patients, and to wear a WHITE COAT proudly such as yourself! Please don’t stop uploading videos!!! I have A LOT of years to go and I’ll need ya! God bless you & I am grateful that he placed your channel in my sight tonight! 😘🙏🏽💛 from a Future NP to a current AMAZING NP!

People have bad days and good days. I am an ICU nurse (ICU nurses are extremely critical and analytical, which is why they work in the ICU). Sometimes I'm rude and sometimes not. I never once felt like I was being mistreated for my color. That is so small minded in my opinion. She is a NP and she is making it. No one tried holding her back or succeeded at it so why the fuss? To be quite honest, I believe some nurses are just envious/jealous that you are in that role. The fact that you are black only adds fuel to the fire. Before I left my last job, I emailed all the nurses telling them how I was leaving to pursue my FNP degree. One of my co workers flat out told me, “the grass isn’t greener on the other side” then processed to walk out the door without any words of congratulations to me. During one of my clinical rotations, a patient asked if I was training to be an LPN. Ummm...why would you ASSume that when you clearly see that I am here with the FNP? If I got a penny for every time I was mistaken for a CNA or the like (no shade), I’d be a millionaire 🙄. *end rant*

  • @bluefamily3937

    @bluefamily3937

    I understand your frustrated when patients assume you're a CNA or an LPN...but I urge you to reframe it. The patients who say that can only see your gentle humility. (Perhaps they're throwing shade, but since you are intelligent and know how hard you work, you can't assume that..so think it's only the best comments!) You don't put on airs of superiority and did what's what effort you've put in towards your degree! Hear it as a compliment instead.

  • @LovelyGlow01

    @LovelyGlow01

    3 жыл бұрын

    We should never reframe a thought or belief that someone being rude is a compliment, because it is not. It is poor behavior that reflects what is going on inside the rude perso. We should never think that allowing someone to be rude to us is providing therapy to them because it is the opposite. It actually has the potential to promote more rude and uncalled for behavior. Staying professional was the best move in that situation. Going to HR or management with repeated offenses would frame better as therapy for a person like her. It could give her a look at her actions and possibly guide her toward managing her reactions better or it could actually lead her to therapy to get the help she needs. We can't encourage such behavior. And nurses have to stop eating their young as well as their peers. It is enough.

  • @bluefamily3937

    @bluefamily3937

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@LovelyGlow01 you are correct. We cannot change the behaviors of others. We can only change our reaction to it. ...Thus my opinion is to grant compassion to the offensive person. PERHAPS, that person will consider their own behavior in the future because of how I reacted... Either way, Lisa handled the situation beautifully.

  • @RashetaCannon

    @@bluefamily3937 Hello! Just to clarify, the issue is deeper than just someone thinking I am a CNA or an LPN. I had an interview recently & when I got to the job, the secretary said, “you must be interviewing for the LPN position.” I told her that I was here for the RN position. She repeated,”Oh, the LPN position.” My issue has been that people automatically assume, because of my race, that I must be a CNA or an LPN. This happens to me so frequently as well to my sister who is a nurse as well.

  • @LovelyGlow01

    I am a Surgical Tech, have been for a year now. When I just started i got some push back when I would jump in and help the nurses more patients, comfort patients while they fell asleep under anesthesia, help clean the rooms with the hospital attendants, pretty much just be helpful, and do my job. I had a fellow Surg Tech tell me that what I'm doing is not my job, or I've had people ask me why I'm doing those things, and I've had nurses give me dirty looks because I'm cleaning the rooms and mopping the floors. First off the faster we get the OR clean the faster we get the next case in, second move an go whe! Nuh come tell me what I should and shouldn't be doing, why don't you just come help. I hate how nurses and other staff treat people. It's sickening. and it's some of the same duty rude people that keep asking me to join their team. I just ignore dem and cuss dem in my mind lol. Keep up the hard work you are an inspiration. We may never know the answers as to why you catch attitude for no reason, but keep inspiring!!

    Tell dem move go weh!! 😩😩 But that is the problem with nursing/patient care all of it, bc a lot of those ppl working in this field now is the me or I type of ppl, that is your job not mine etc. I am all for saying that is your job if someone is just lazy and don't want to work, but with team work all of that makes it go by so fast. They asking you to join their team bc you have proven to be a great worker. Thanks for watching! One 💚

    As a nurse wanting to be an NP one day is see this from both sides. I get condescending looks from NP’s and docs. They brush me off as a nurse when I ask stuff, and I’m nurse it’s the other way around too. I know some nurses think they know more than an NP and don’t respect them. It’s really childish. Proud of you for sticking through it and making videos for others to learn!

    Lol, the thing is I was a ICU nurse for 10yrs. I do know about those type A personalities, however the attitude I get from most of them is plain nasty. I asked one nurse once about a pt levophed drip and she looked at me like "why do you want to know that" I get it that I am not the provider that makes any decision on ICU patients, but we are required to round on these patients.

    So I’ve been looking for a NP to do Day in the Life, who looks like me and does hospital. I found you and I’m so glad. So as a “retired” ICU nurse I never understood the I only listen to the Dr, when we have tons of NPs on our services especially at night. But most likely it’s the second reason why she acted like a donkey rear-end. But usually when I get that I flip on them and start acting really concerned and scared FOR her “are you ok? Are you ill? You look flushed. I was only asking who the nurse was and if you can at least overhead call him to the desk please. But feel better.” Also, Caribbean dreame peppermint tea is my favorite! ❤️ ❤❤

  • @fromcnatonp

    APRN is an advance practice nurse so as a FNP you fall under that umbrella term just like a CRNA would also be considered a APRN bc they also have a masters degree. Charting is a lot but just have to get the hang of it. Good luck on your journey
