@[TuNE] Frankie’s a boy :)
I think you are doing everything right. The crate is a common denominator between the two places... as long as Frankie feels safe in the crate, you are on the right path. You might try and cover it with something too, even partially, to make it feel at least a little more like a "den". My Penny (I was inspired to get an Aussie by watching your videos!) is almost 10 months old now. She goes to work with me every day so we spend very little time apart and separation anxiety is a real thing. The saving grace is that I started her crate training when I first got her, at 8 weeks old. She'll often put herself in the crate to take a nap or go to bed (on a rare night that I'm up late). She also doesn't feel secure at night unless the crate door is closed and locked and will wake me up at night if I neglect to do it! Like you, I have her crate in my bedroom. Starting off with some closed gate crate time while you are there, and then some short "away" (just a minute or two) and gradually making it longer will reinforce the ideas that the crate is the safe space and that you will ALWAYS come back. Don't make a big deal about leaving or coming back, which may just reinforce anxiety. I also leave the radio or tv on if I'm leaving for awhile during the day, so she can't as easily react to every little sound in the distance (listening for me). Seems to help.
Randomly found a video from ur channel the other day i couldnt sleep .... That night i didnt get sleep at all! I couldnt stop watching them xD Love the little things u do. Like what Frankie says/thinking. When Indie is in the video (omg she is soooo cute ♥ ) So ye... ty for sharing the videos with us ^^
You guys are the reason why I got a cute little Australian shepherd he is the best !! THANKS 😊
I love what you said about COVID and how it has caused some separation anxiety in dogs! For me it helped to kennel my dog 2-3 hours a day just so he is reminded that being away from people is still very normal

Frozen Kong toys or licking mats in the crate, stuffed with some biscuits soaked in water, wet dog food, Yoghurt or peanut butter. Keeps the pup eating/licking and that motion keeps them calm!
My mini mostly Australian Shepherd is great too! She's a rescue and 2 yrs old. Not a runner or a big talker, just barks at someone who comes to the house. She stops barking a couple of times 😂. She's only 18# and not as fluffy as Frankie. Love your channel!
enjoy your new home! Sometimes it helps to put a kong stuffed with peanut butter or other soft stuff, maybe even mixed with kibble, in a cage/crate with them, when you leave them - helps to keep them occupied if they are not too too anxious [my girl would usually wait till I got home before eating what was in her kong, but she was quite anxious] - good idea to get him accustomed to it, as it's a VERY useful device [a crate, I mean]
Hi Joey, Frankie, Angelica, and Indie!! I moved into my new place with my aussie about 6 months ago. Here are some things that helped: Blanket/Clothing on the pup's bed, helps a sense of of familiarity. Games while you are gone to keep the mind stimulated helps a ton. Making sure there is a designated area for them.
Best dog dad ever!
My boyfriend and I love your channel!!! We are looking into getting an Aussie this spring and your videos are helping a lot with the thought process of training. Also super surprised your channel doesn’t have millions of subscribers because content is so amazing :)

Joey, I love your KZread vlogs they have educated me in how to handle an Aussie. I am getting one, Red Merle male, late spring. In one of your vlogs you mentioned a some other vlogs we can also watch, can you tell me the links please. Thanks again.
All dogs have separation anxiety. I had a cocker spaniel who lived to be 20. Sadly in 2000 my dad had to put her down.It was a non purebread We got her in 1981. 6 month later Sandy's mother died.
I love Aussies! My boy is 4 weeks this week and i get to pick him up next month. I am so excited!! What was the best way you were actually able to teach him? I know they are amazing dogs to teach, but what did you do? Treats or toys
feel comfortable yourself - he picks up your vibes!

Mini Aussie are like that, they don't like being alone.
That place ye went was it spelt Limerick? If so it’s also the name of a county in Ireland. Glad Frankie is adjusting to the new place well before he knows it it’ll be as if he’s always been there

Hey, I am really thinking about getting a Aussie but I am not sure because of the shedding so I was just wondering if he sheds a lot and if you are always covered in hair.
What did you drizzle on top of Frankie's kibble? Keep the videos coming.

I’m kinda sad cuz I watch all his videos 😅 and know I want to watch more but there is no more 😢
Looking back, I think leaving then coming back with Frankie may help. Perhaps a walk around the block a couple times a day. We have moved several times over the years, with kids and pets. I thought about it, and I think the “coming home” to their stuff, their family, in a familiar way sped the processing of the move up. Hope this helps . New house looks great!

That could also get him to think “oh he heard me and came back”. so what I have been doing it leaving, coming back and not saying hello or goodbye and it’s been working

Hi, I just got a new border Aussie puppy (Australian Shepherd and border collie mix) and I was wondering what leash you use. It would be very helpful. Thanks

What kind of dog food do you feed your dog
We have the same issue with the car. All I can recommend is #1, give food and treats and toys in the car. Don't go anywhere, just sit in the car and have fun. Sometimes you will go somewhere, sometimes you won't. Also, you can get some calming spray that is a calming hormone that mother dogs release to calm their puppies, the company is called Adaptil. Also just a question, how do you correct the barking that you were talking about? Keep up the good work, love you guys :)!

Yeah he wasn't ever this bad so these are great tips to try! I will definitely look into the spray. To correct barking, I have always used a clap to get his attention. Once he stops, then I reward. It seems to work best for him and I make sure he understands he can look out the window... he just can't bark. I try to make him feel safe

I’m getting one in two days is it good to socialise when young or when older and trained please let me know
@FrankieToTheMoon

Young otherwise you have taught your dog not to socialize
I have 2 Aussies and when my female (Feather) gets nervous she holds her favorite stuffed toy in her mouth and that seems to make her feel better. She is turning 3 the 15th of this month. Maybe you could teach Frankie to hold his favorite toy in the car and to concentrate on that instead of his insecurities in the car. My family enjoys your channel!!
I hope you can get a cat someday Joey.😮
I was surprised that Frankie is a mini Aussie. He’s about the same size as my female standard Aussie.

Me and my family are thinking about getting a border Aussie mix and we’re wondering whether an invisible fence is good for them or if a physical fence is better. If anyone has any advice, anything helps!! PS Frankie is so cuteee!!!

Physical fence in my opinion because it’s also peace of mind for you. I know the shock collars don’t harm them, but I hate the idea

Getting a mini aussie, i am not sure if its already gonna be names, but if its not... any names?!
was wondering how Frankie does when strangers approach/come in the house unexpectedly? My aussie has no problems with new people unless they barge in wondered if you guys had the same issue or how you discourage this!
@FrankieToTheMoon

Sometimes he barks if they startle him, but often times he just goes to the door or the window to check it out
For teaching him boundaries and make a marker on the line (flags, sticks, etc) and teach him to stay there while you go beyond it.
@FrankieToTheMoon

Yeah that’s what I’m doing with the wall! He’s seeming to get it actually
I made cards for my wallet, cars and on the fridge of information: name, address, phone for me. For Sadie: name, birthdate, vet's name, phone and address. I also put two other contact numbers: names, address and phone. It's says" If you are reading this obviously I am in trouble and please take care of my pet at home. You can order them but I just looked at an example and typed one up.

Hi I might be getting an aussie and i was just wondering what you can tell me about the difference in the genders. Like, what have you seen in boys vs. Girls. I'm not sure but the other Aussie in the vid looks like a girl and I was just wondering which one IS most shy.
@FrankieToTheMoon

I haven’t owned a girl dog myself so I can’t really tell ya. From the differences between Frankie and indie, indie is just more timid. And in general female dogs tend to be smaller
