Day in the Life - HOMELESS MAN

I mean the solution isn't going to come from one individual. It's not even unrealistic to say we can get rid of homelessness in this country, it's just not how our system works.

Lived on streets of London in early nineties as a teen girl. Ran away from abuse and the amount of "respectable looking couples" that approached me to have a threesome was mind-blowing I was 14-15 and baby faced, now at 45 with children of my own I would never judge a book by it's cover. All the best to this man and his son.

I'm a teenager at 19 and have been facing difficulty at finding work but am so determined to always keep going and keep searching, and plan what a wonderful and productive future will hold. This man is selfless and inspirational, and I wish the system would actually give you a chance at work and allow you to get back up on/stay on your feet without being so judgmental of whether or not you're homeless or etc.

I was homeless almost 5 years ago in Iowa due to chronic serious heart diagnosis that prevented me from working. I was working and suddenly ended up in hospital and almost died. l I moved from rural area to a city of 60,000 by Omaha to get services since there are NONE in rural areas. DONT think there are no homeless in rural areas, be cause it happens every day. I lived in a tent with a guy through the summer but ended up in the hospital because of my living situation with my health issues. I was getting medical care every week. I eventually went to a wonderful shelter in Omaha that changed my life along with great services in the city I lived. I was never an addict, no mental health problems, I dont even smoke. I just had a chronic health issue that kept me from working. I still have not been able to get disability even after 5 years of trying. I help support myself with my art and crocheting that I sell. I have lived in my apartment for 4 years. I see homeless people everyday and help when I can and direct them to services if they want them.

I was homeless in southern California for about 3 months and learned a lot from the street folks. They made good $ panhandling and used the $ for drugs and alcohol while always going to eat at The Salvation Army and The Midnight Mission etc.....People ignorantly think that giving them $ is such a good thing and I would like to see their faces if they could actually see what was done with their $ given for various reasons the homeless would come up with to get it from them.

Although the dynamics are changing with inflation causing more homeless, the homeless problem is a drug problem and that must be dealt with first. Housing them will not solve the issue or the crime associated with it. It will only cost taxpayers as they expect everything to be provided for them

Drugs are like guns, they have no purpose until you use them. I was on the streets for 25 years and the problem remains the same now as it was then: not owning your bad decisions or those who made them for you!

But if you have everybody feeding you given you everything you need doing your laundry for you don't you become complacent and say oh this isn't that bad? Sometimes it's really weird to hear homeless people complain about the type of house they get for free it's not designed to keep you it's designed to help you get off your ass and go on I mean if they're doing your laundry feeding you they might as well give you the Taj Mahal right

Elderly people on the street is a lifestyle choice, no need to feel sorry for them, at any time they can go into assisted living facility and have everything provided for them, paid for by the federal government... Usually takes only a couple months if you're already on social security. So, meh, save your sympathy for someone else...

I both agree and disagree with you. S.S. is what got me off the streets at 65, but assisted living is the same as a death wish; and I don't have one of those either. but, I have something you'll never have, a heart.

Govt has failed you my dear...i am so sorry, you worked all your life. You didn't save money or build any home. And your own people wouldn't hire you because you are homeless. 7:18 Given how small is the place, i would suggest you and your son to better hangout in some park or a garden..and then just sleep in this SRO. Also when you are housing people make huge common areas and also have spacious dorms. And as many private rooms !

DO YOU KNOW WHY WE ARE LOSING THE WAR ON DRUGS IN AMERICA? There this strip club here in Las Vegas, Nevada that by the MIDDLE EASTERN. That place is not a strip club but more like a TRAP HOUSE! And what is a TRAP HOUSE it a place where you walked in there as a normal person but come out as a DRUG ADDICT! Let me tell you what happens at this strip club so you and your family don't fall for this TRAP. Most of the strip club close to the Las Vegas strip are good, there nothing wrong with those but there this one strip club just a bit outside the Las Vegas strip. THAT PLACE IS A TRAP HOUSE! Right when we got to the strip club, I felt something was a little bit of. They only have one other table that have customer. EVERY TIME THE STRIPPER WALKED BY OUR TABLE EVERYONE IS HIGH AS HELL! THE STRIPPER WAS WALKING BY OUR TABLE AND AT THE SAME TIME RELEASING SOME KIND ON DRUGS IN THE AIR!! THE DRUG IS AIRBORNE!! RIGHT WHEN I SAW THAT I TOOK OF MY JACKET AND COVER MY NOSE AND MOUTH RIGHT AWAY. WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT BREATHE IN THAT AIR!!! Sang Ho the person that came with us see me covering my nose and mouth with my jacket, all night would ask me if I want a lap dance from one of the stripper. I say "HELL NO" BECAUSE I KNOW STRIPPER WOULD GIVE ME A LAP DANCE AND RUB SOME KIND OF DRUG ON ME. Security see me covering my nose and mouth with my jacket and refusing all the lap dance from the stripper, started surrounding me. Evey five minutes I got to get up and change seats because I did not want security to grab me from behind. I know they can't do anything to me at that strip club because it was MY OWN COUSIN THAT LURE ME THERE! But that how it is in the Vietnamese Community, they go around PRETEND TO BE YOUR FRIEND, PRETEND TO BE YOUR COUSIN BUT THEN LURE YOU AND TRY TO GET YOU ADDICTED ON DRUGS. AND IT NOT JUST THE ASIAN COMMUNITY THAT LURE YOU AND GET YOU ADDICTED ON DRUGS BUT ALL RACE!! So don't let you and your family fall for this TRAP BECAUSE WHERE EVER THEY HAVE ONE STRIP CLUB LIKE THIS IN AMERICA, THEN THERE ARE MANY MORE OUT THERE!
