If I may make a suggestion about boat handling, when navigating through shallow water at low speeds it is safer to only use one motor for propulsion and trim the other all the way up. If you collide with a hard object only one motor is subject to damage and it’s easier to navigate a very narrow channel. In the middle of nowhere one perfectly functioning motor could be a life saver. Keep up the good work, love your camera expertise and identifying the different sea life.

If you want your potatoes to last 11 months, don’t get them from the store, buy them from a farmer fresh. Then let them air dry for a week. After that, keep them away from every light source, in a very dark place. They will last for your entire trip and more.

Very hard to nail down the actual location. Google Maps calls it Waua Islet with Dowar Islet right behind it. Another name for the island behind it is Daua Island. About 118 miles at a bearing of 45 degrees from the North tip of Australia where it stretches out to Papua , Not where I expected it to be ! The biggest island near by might be called Mer Island or Murray by others. You might be able to get supplies as long as it is still Australia ? By the way, it took all the tools I've got to find this, doubt I could do it again !

New Zealander here. I'm finding it funny how you have fish called Māori Wrasse and Māori Sea Perch since the Māori people are indigenous here. After thinking about it the Pacific peoples came out of the area you are in now and some language is common (kai=food here, in PNG kaikai = food ) And māori has a meaning apart from the name of the indigenous people here and means 'common' or 'ordinary'. Some species of animals are called the common xxxxxxx. I hope I explained that right, please correct me anyone if not.

Not wrong there, brother! In the Torres Strait Islands, where they both are, we speak broken English as well, which is similar to the PNG pigeon. Kaikai in Torres Strait means food/ eating. Torres Strait may be a part of Queensland, Australia, but we have a strong Melanesian heritage.
